Hosea 5

1 Hear this, you priests, listen, House of Israel, pay attention, royal House, for it is you who have justice inyour care, but you have been a snare at Mizpah and a net outspread on Tabor.	1 Ascoltate questo, sacerdoti, state attenti, casa di Israele e porgete orecchio, casa del re; perché a voi spetta il giudizio, poiché un laccio voi foste a Mizpa e una rete tesa sul Tabor.
2 They have dug the ditch deep at Shittim and so I am going to punish them al .	2 Profonda hanno essi scavata la fossa della trasgressione e non c’era nessuno che li riprendesse tutti,
3 Ephraim have I known, Israel is not hidden from me; and yet, Ephraim, you have played the whore,Israel is befouled.	3 Io conosco Efraim e Israele non mi è nascosto: poiché ora Efraim si è prostituito, Israele si è contaminato.
4 Their deeds do not al ow them to return to their God, since an urge to play the whore possesses themand they no longer know Yahweh.	4 Le loro opere non permettono loro di ritornare al loro Dio; perché uno spirito di prostituzione è in mezzo a loro e non conoscono Jahvè.
5 Israel's arrogance is his accuser, the guilt of Israel and Ephraim is their undoing, Judah too wil beundone with them.	5 L’orgoglio di Israele deporrà palesemente contro di lui, e Israele ed Efraim soccomberanno per la loro colpa; anche Giuda soccomberà con loro.
6 Though they go in search of Yahweh with their sheep and cattle, they wil not find him; he haswithdrawn from them.	6 Con il loro bestiame minuto e grosso andranno a cercare Jahvè ma non lo troveranno: si è sottratto a essi.
7 They have betrayed Yahweh because they have fathered bastards; now the new moon wil devourthem and their fields.	7 Hanno slealmente abbandonato Jahvè, poiché hanno generato figli bastardi; ora i loro campi saranno divorati dallo scirocco.
8 Sound the horn in Gibeah, the trumpet in Ramah, raise the war cry in Beth-Aven, 'We are behind you,Benjamin!'	8 Suonate il corno a Gabaa, la tromba a Rama, mettete in allarme Bet-Aven, riempite di terrore Beniamin.
9 When the day of punishment comes, Ephraim wil be a wasteland; on the tribes of Israel I havepronounced certain doom.	9 Efraim diventerà una rovina nel giorno della punizione. Fra le tribù di Israele io faccio sapere una cosa sicura:
10 The rulers of Judah act like men who move the boundary stone; I shall pour my wrath out on them likea flood.	10 i capi di Giuda sono divenuti come coloro che spostano il confine: su di loro spanderò come acqua il mio sdegno.
11 Ephraim is oppressed, crushed by the sentence, for having deliberately fol owed a Lie.	11 Efraim è un oppressore un calpestatore del diritto; perché si ostina a inseguire l’illusione.
12 Because of this, I shall be like ringworm for Ephraim and like gangrene for the House of Judah.	12 Così io sarò come una tignola per Efraim e come un tarlo per la casa di Giuda.
13 Once Ephraim realised that he was sick and Judah that he had an ulcer, Ephraim then went toAssyria, he sent messengers to the Great King; but he has no power to cure you or to heal you of your sore;	13 Allora Efraim vide la sua malattia e Giuda la sua piaga; Efraim andò in Assiria e Giuda inviò messaggeri al re di Jareb; ma egli non potrà risanarvi né potrà asportarvi la piaga.
14 for I shal be like a lion to Ephraim, like a young lion to the House of Judah; I myself shal rend them,then go my way, shal carry them off, beyond hope of rescue.	14 Perché io sarò come un leone per Efraim e come un leoncello per la casa di Giuda; io, io faccio preda e me ne vado, porto via e nessuno salva.
15 I shal go back to my place until they confess their guilt and seek me, seek me eagerly in their distress.	15 Me ne vado, torno al mio luogo, finché non la scontino. Cercheranno la mia faccia e quando saranno in angustia mi ricercheranno.
