Proverbs 2

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBBIA MARTINI
1 My child, if you take my words to heart, if you set store by my commandments,	1 Figliuol mio, se tu vorrai dar ricetto alle mio parole, e riporre gli insegnamenti miei nel tuo seno,
2 tuning your ear to wisdom, tuning your heart to understanding,	2 Affinchè le tue orecchie siano intente alle voci della sapienza, rivolgi il cuor tuo a conoscere la prudenza:
3 yes, if your plea is for clear perception, if you cry out for understanding,	3 Perocché se tu invocherai la sapienza, e il cuor tuo rivolgerai alla prudenza;
4 if you look for it as though for silver, search for it as though for buried treasure,	4 Se cercherai di lei, come si fa delle ricchezze, e la scaverai, come si fa dei tesori,
5 then you wil understand what the fear of Yahweh is, and discover the knowledge of God.	5 Allora tu apparerai il timor del Signore, e troverai la scienza di Dio:
6 For Yahweh himself is giver of wisdom, from his mouth issue knowledge and understanding.	6 Perocché il Signore è quegli, che da la sapienza, e dalla bocca di lui (viene) la prudenza, e la scienza.
7 He reserves his advice for the honest, a shield to those whose ways are sound;	7 Egli è il custode della salute de' giusti, e protettore di quelli, che camminano nella innocenza.
8 he stands guard over the paths of equity, he keeps watch over the way of those faithful to him.	8 E' regge i passi de' giusti, e governa le vie dei santi.
9 Then you wil understand uprightness, equity and fair dealing, the paths that lead to happiness.	9 Allora tu intenderai la giustizia, la rettitudine, e l'equità, e tutti i sentieri della onestà.
10 When wisdom comes into your heart and knowledge fil s your soul with delight,	10 Se entrerà in cuor tuo la sapienza, e se la scienza sarà tuo diletto,
11 then prudence wil be there to watch over you, and understanding wil be your guardian	11 Tuo custode sarà il buon consiglio, e la prudenza ti salverà,
12 to keep you from the way that is evil, from those whose speech is deceitful,	12 Lontano tenendoti dalla via del male, e dagli uomini di lingua perversa:
13 from those who leave the paths of honesty to walk the roads of darkness:	13 I quali abbandonan la via diritta, e battono vie tenebrose.
14 those who find their joy in doing wrong, and their delight in deceitfulness,	14 I quali si rallegrano del male, che han fatto, e delle loro malvagità fanno festa.
15 whose tracks are twisted, and the paths that they tread crooked.	15 Le vie de' quali son storte, e vituperesi i loro andamenti.
16 To keep you, too, from the woman who belongs to another, from the stranger, with her wheedlingwords;	16 Ella ti farà star lontano dalla donna altrui, e dalla donna straniera, che ha melate parole.
17 she has left the partner of her younger days, she has forgotten the covenant of her God;	17 E abbandona il rettore di sua giovinezza,
18 her house is tilting towards Death, down to the Shades go her paths.	18 Ed ha messo in dimenticanza il patto del Dio suo: la casa di lei declina verso la morte, e le sue vie verso l'inferno.
19 Of those who go to her not one returns, they never regain the paths of life.	19 Tutti quelli, che entrano in casa di lei non torneranno indietro, né ripiglieranno le vie della vita.
20 Thus you wil tread the way of good people, persisting in the paths of the upright.	20 Affinchè tu segua la buona strada e non esca dai sentieri de' giusti.
21 For the land will be for the honest to live in, the innocent will have it for their home;	21 Perocché gli uomini retti abiteranno la terra, e gli innocenti vi averan ferma stanza.
22 while the wicked wil be cut off from the land, and the faithless rooted out of it.	22 Ma gli empj saranno sterminati dalla terra, e quelli, che operano iniquamente, ne saranno rapiti.
