Proverbs 2

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 My child, if you take my words to heart, if you set store by my commandments,	1 Hijo mío, si das acogida a mis palabras, y guardas en tu memoria mis mandatos,
2 tuning your ear to wisdom, tuning your heart to understanding,	2 prestando tu oído a la sabiduría, inclinando tu corazón a la prudencia;
3 yes, if your plea is for clear perception, if you cry out for understanding,	3 si invocas a la inteligencia y llamas a voces a la prudencia;
4 if you look for it as though for silver, search for it as though for buried treasure,	4 si la buscas como la plata y como un tesoro la rebuscas,
5 then you wil understand what the fear of Yahweh is, and discover the knowledge of God.	5 entonces entenderás el temor de Yahveh y la ciencia de Dios encontrarás.
6 For Yahweh himself is giver of wisdom, from his mouth issue knowledge and understanding.	6 Porque Yahveh es el que da la sabiduría, de su boca nacen la ciencia y la prudencia.
7 He reserves his advice for the honest, a shield to those whose ways are sound;	7 Reserva el éxito para los rectos, es escudo para quienes proceden con entereza,
8 he stands guard over the paths of equity, he keeps watch over the way of those faithful to him.	8 vigila las sendas de la equidad y guarda el camino de sus amigos.
9 Then you wil understand uprightness, equity and fair dealing, the paths that lead to happiness.	9 Entonces entenderás la justicia, la equidad y la rectitud: todos los senderos del bien.
10 When wisdom comes into your heart and knowledge fil s your soul with delight,	10 Cuando entre la sabiduría en tu corazón y la ciencia sea dulce para tu alma,
11 then prudence wil be there to watch over you, and understanding wil be your guardian	11 velará sobre ti la reflexión y la prudencia te guardará,
12 to keep you from the way that is evil, from those whose speech is deceitful,	12 apartándote del mal camino, del hombre que propone planes perversos,
13 from those who leave the paths of honesty to walk the roads of darkness:	13 de los que abandonan el recto sendero para ir por caminos tenebrosos,
14 those who find their joy in doing wrong, and their delight in deceitfulness,	14 de los que se gozan en hacer el mal, se regocijan en la perversidad,
15 whose tracks are twisted, and the paths that they tread crooked.	15 cuyos senderos son tortuosos y sus sendas llenas de revueltas.
16 To keep you, too, from the woman who belongs to another, from the stranger, with her wheedlingwords;	16 Ella te apartará de la mujer ajena, de la extraña de melosas palabras,
17 she has left the partner of her younger days, she has forgotten the covenant of her God;	17 que ha dejado al amigo de su juventud y ha olvidado la alianza de su Dios;
18 her house is tilting towards Death, down to the Shades go her paths.	18 su casa está inclinada hacia la muerte, hacia las sombras sus tortuosos senderos.
19 Of those who go to her not one returns, they never regain the paths of life.	19 Nadie que entre por ella volverá, no alcanzará las sendas de la vida.
20 Thus you wil tread the way of good people, persisting in the paths of the upright.	20 Por eso has de ir por el camino de los buenos, seguirás las sendas de los justos.
21 For the land will be for the honest to live in, the innocent will have it for their home;	21 Porque los rectos habitarán la tierra y los íntegros se mantendrán en ella;
22 while the wicked wil be cut off from the land, and the faithless rooted out of it.	22 pero los malos serán cercenados de la tierra, se arrancará de ella a los desleales.
