1 Shout for joy, you upright; praise comes wel from the honest.	1 De Davi. Quando simulou alienação na presença de Abimelec e, despedido por ele, partiu.
2 Give thanks to Yahweh on the lyre, play for him on the ten-stringed lyre.	2 Bendirei continuamente o Senhor, seu louvor não deixará meus lábios.
3 Sing to him a new song, make sweet music for your cry of victory.	3 Glorie-se a minha alma no Senhor; ouçam-me os humildes, e se alegrem.
4 The word of Yahweh is straightforward, al he does springs from his constancy.	4 Glorificai comigo o Senhor, juntos exaltemos o seu nome.
5 He loves uprightness and justice; the faithful love of Yahweh fil s the earth.	5 Procurei o Senhor e ele me atendeu, livrou-me de todos os temores.
6 By the word of Yahweh the heavens were made, by the breath of his mouth all their array.	6 Olhai para ele a fim de vos alegrardes, e não se cobrir de vergonha o vosso rosto.
7 He collects the waters of the sea like a dam, he stores away the abyss in his treasure-house.	7 Vede, este miserável clamou e o Senhor o ouviu, de todas as angústias o livrou.
8 Let the whole earth fear Yahweh, let al who dwel in the world revere him;	8 O anjo do Senhor acampa em redor dos que o temem e os salva.
9 for, the moment he spoke, it was so, no sooner had he commanded, than there it stood!	9 Provai e vede como o Senhor é bom, feliz o homem que se refugia junto dele.
10 Yahweh thwarts the plans of nations, frustrates the counsels of peoples;	10 Reverenciai o Senhor, vós, seus fiéis, porque nada falta àqueles que o temem.
11 but Yahweh's own plan stands firm for ever, his heart's counsel from age to age.	11 Os poderosos empobrecem e passam fome, mas aos que buscam o Senhor nada lhes falta.
12 How blessed the nation whose God is Yahweh, the people he has chosen as his heritage.	12 Vinde, meus filhos, ouvi-me: eu vos ensinarei o temor do Senhor.
13 From heaven Yahweh looks down, he sees al the children of Adam,	13 Qual é o homem que ama a vida e deseja longos dias para gozar de felicidade?
14 from the place where he sits he watches al who dwel on the earth;	14 Guarda tua língua do mal, e teus lábios das palavras enganosas.
15 he alone moulds their hearts, he understands al they do.	15 Aparta-te do mal e faze o bem, busca a paz e vai ao seu encalço.
16 A large army wil not keep a king safe, nor his strength save a warrior's life;	16 Os olhos do Senhor estão voltados para os justos, e seus ouvidos atentos aos seus clamores.
17 it is delusion to rely on a horse for safety, for all its power it cannot save.	17 O Senhor volta a sua face irritada contra os que fazem o mal, para apagar da terra a lembrança deles.
18 But see how Yahweh watches over those who fear him, those who rely on his faithful love,	18 Apenas clamaram os justos, o Senhor os atendeu e os livrou de todas as suas angústias.
19 to rescue them from death and keep them alive in famine.	19 O Senhor está perto dos contritos de coração, e salva os que têm o espírito abatido.
20 We are waiting for Yahweh; he is our help and our shield,	20 São numerosas as tribulações do justo, mas de todas o livra o Senhor.
21 for in him our heart rejoices, in his holy name we trust.	21 Ele protege cada um de seus ossos: nem um só deles será quebrado.
22 Yahweh, let your faithful love rest on us, as our hope has rested in you.	22 A malícia do ímpio o leva à morte, e os que odeiam o justo serão castigados.
	23 O Senhor livra a alma de seus servos; não será punido quem a ele se acolhe.
