Psalms 16

1 A miktam of David. Keep me safe, O God; in you I take refuge	1 'Miktam. Di Davide.' Proteggimi, o Dio: in te mi rifugio.
2 I say to the Lord, you are my Lord, you are my only good.	2 Ho detto a Dio: "Sei tu il mio Signore, senza di te non ho alcun bene".
3 Worthless are all the false gods of the land. Accursed are all who delight in them.	3 Per i santi, che sono sulla terra, uomini nobili, è tutto il mio amore.
4 They multiply their sorrows who court other gods. Blood libations to them I will not pour out, nor will I take their names upon my lips.	4 Si affrettino altri a costruire idoli: io non spanderò le loro libazioni di sangue né pronunzierò con le mie labbra i loro nomi.
5 LORD, my allotted portion and my cup, you have made my destiny secure.	5 Il Signore è mia parte di eredità e mio calice: nelle tue mani è la mia vita.
6 Pleasant places were measured out for me; fair to me indeed is my inheritance.	6 Per me la sorte è caduta su luoghi deliziosi, è magnifica la mia eredità.
7 I bless the LORD who counsels me; even at night my heart exhorts me.	7 Benedico il Signore che mi ha dato consiglio; anche di notte il mio cuore mi istruisce.
8 I keep the LORD always before me; with the Lord at my right, I shall never be shaken.	8 Io pongo sempre innanzi a me il Signore, sta alla mia destra, non posso vacillare.
9 Therefore my heart is glad, my soul rejoices; my body also dwells secure,	9 Di questo gioisce il mio cuore, esulta la mia anima; anche il mio corpo riposa al sicuro,
10 For you will not abandon me to Sheol, nor let your faithful servant see the pit.	10 perché non abbandonerai la mia vita nel sepolcro, né lascerai che il tuo santo veda la corruzione.
11 You will show me the path to life, abounding joy in your presence, the delights at your right hand forever.	11 Mi indicherai il sentiero della vita, gioia piena nella tua presenza, dolcezza senza fine alla tua destra.
