1 The prayer of one afflicted and wasting away whose anguish is poured out before the LORD.	1 Preghiera di un meschino che languisce ed effonde il suo lamento davanti a Dio.
2 LORD, hear my prayer; let my cry come to you.	2 Jahvè, ascolta la mia preghiera, giunga a te il mio grido.
3 Do not hide your face from me now that I am in distress. Turn your ear to me; when I call, answer me quickly.	3 Non nascondere il tuo volto da me, nel giorno nell’angustia per me. Porgi a me il tuo orecchio; quando ti invoco, affrettati, rispondimi.
4 For my days vanish like smoke; my bones burn away as in a furnace.	4 Poiché svanirono in fumo i miei giorni e arsero le ossa come fiammata.
5 I am withered, dried up like grass, too wasted to eat my food.	5 Fu colpito come erba e inaridì il mio cuore; in modo che dimenticai di mangiare il mio pane.
6 From my loud groaning I become just skin and bones.	6 Dall’eco del mio gemito si è incollato l’osso alla pelle.
7 I am like a desert owl, like an owl among the ruins.	7 Somiglio al pellicano del deserto, sono come il gufo delle rovine.
8 I lie awake and moan, like a lone sparrow on the roof.	8 Fui insonne e gemetti come passero solitario sul tetto.
9 All day long my enemies taunt me; in their rage, they make my name a curse.	9 Tutto il giorno mi insultano i miei nemici, frenetici imprecano contro il mio nome.
10 I eat ashes like bread, mingle my drink with tears.	10 Poiché mangiavo cenere come pane le mie bevande mischiai a lacrime.
11 Because of your furious wrath, you lifted me up just to cast me down.	11 Portato dal tuo sdegno e dal tuo furore, sì, mi hai alzato e scagliato.
12 My days are like a lengthening shadow; I wither like the grass.	12 I miei giorni scomparvero come ombra al declino e inaridii come fieno.
13 But you, LORD, are enthroned forever; your renown is for all generations.	13 Ma tu, o Jahvè, siedi in eterno e la tua memoria di generazione in generazione.
14 You will again show mercy to Zion; now is the time for pity; the appointed time has come.	14 Tu sorgi e hai compassione di Sion; poiché è tempo di graziarla, è venuto il momento.
15 Its stones are dear to your servants; its dust moves them to pity.	15 Perché si compiacquero i tuoi servitori nelle sue pietre ed ebbero pietà delle sue rovine.
16 The nations shall revere your name, LORD, all the kings of the earth, your glory,	16 E temono le genti il nome di Jahvè e tutti i re della terra la tua gloria.
17 Once the LORD has rebuilt Zion and appeared in glory,	17 Perché Jahvè ha edificato Sion ed è apparso nella sua gloria.
18 Heeding the plea of the lowly, not scorning their prayer.	18 Si è volto alla preghiera del misero derelitto né disprezzò la loro preghiera.
19 Let this be written for the next generation, for a people not yet born, that they may praise the LORD:	19 Sia scritto tutto ciò per la generazione futura e il popolo che fu ricreato lodi Jahvè.
20 "The LORD looked down from the holy heights, viewed the earth from heaven,	20 Poiché mirò dall’alto il suo santuario, Jahvè dai cieli guardò sulla terra
21 To attend to the groaning of the prisoners, to release those doomed to die."	21 per udire il sospiro dell’uomo in catene, per sciogliere i votati alla morte.
22 Then the LORD'S name will be declared on Zion, the praise of God in Jerusalem,	22 Così che si narri in Sion il nome di Jahvè e il suo inno in Gerusalemme.
23 When all peoples and kingdoms gather to worship the LORD.	23 Quando si adunano insieme i popoli e i regni a servire Jahvè.
24 God has shattered my strength in mid-course, has cut short my days.	24 Ha infranto per via la mia forza, la brevità dei miei giorni mi annuncia.
25 I plead, O my God, do not take me in the midst of my days. Your years last through all generations.	25 Non togliermi a metà dei miei giorni; mentre di generazione in generazione vanno i tuoi anni.
26 Of old you laid the earth's foundations; the heavens are the work of your hands.	26 Da principio fondasti la terra e fattura delle tue mani sono i cieli.
27 They perish, but you remain; they all wear out like a garment; Like clothing you change them and they are changed,	27 Essi periranno ma tu resterai ed essi tutti si consumeranno come veste.
28 but you are the same, your years have no end.	28 Ma tu rimani sempre quello e i tuoi anni non avranno mai fine.
29 May the children of your servants live on; may their descendants live in your presence.	29 I figli dei tuoi servitori abiteranno e il loro seme starà al tuo cospetto.
