BIBBIA MARTINI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Salmo di intelligenza: di Asaph. E perchè, o Dio ci hai tu rigettati per sempre, si è infiammato il tuo sdegno contro le pecorelle della tua greggia?	1 [Psalm Of Asaph] Indeed God is good to Israel, the Lord to those who are pure of heart.
2 Ricordati della tua congregazione, che tua fu fin da principio. Tu comperasti il dominio di tua eredità: il monte di Sion fu il luogo di tua abitazione.	2 My feet were on the point of stumbling, a little more and I had slipped,
3 Alza per sempre il tuo braccio contro la loro superbia: quanti mali ha commesso il nemico nel santuario!	3 envying the arrogant as I did, and seeing the prosperity of the wicked.
4 E color che ti odiano se ne vantarono nel luogo stesso delle tue sommita.	4 For them no such thing as pain, untroubled, their comfortable portliness;
5 Hanno poste (e non v' han fatto riflessione) le loro insegne; le insegne sulla sommità del tempio, come ad un capo di strada.	5 exempt from the cares which are the human lot, they have no part in Adam's afflictions.
6 Hanno similmente spezzate con accette le sue porte, come si fa degli alberi nella foresta: colle scure, e colle accette lo hanno atterrato.	6 So pride is a necklace to them, violence the garment they wear.
7 Han dato fuoco al tuo santuario: han profanato il tabernacolo, che tu avevi sopra la terra.	7 From their fat oozes out malice, their hearts drip with cunning.
8 Ha detto in cuor suo tutta la loro nazione: Leviam di sopra la terra tutti i giorni consagrati al culto di Dio.	8 Cynical y they advocate evil, loftily they advocate force.
9 E noi non veggiam que' nostri prodigj, né v' ha pia alcun profeta, ed egli più non ci riconosce.	9 Their mouth claims heaven for themselves, and their tongue is never stil on earth.
10 E fino a quando, o Dio, insulterà l'inimico, e l'avversario bestemmierà continuamente il tuo nome?	10 That is why my people turn to them, and enjoy the waters of plenty,
11 E perché ritiri tu la tua mano? tira fuor dal tuo seno la tua destra una volta per sempre.	11 saying, 'How can God know? What knowledge can the Most High have?'
12 Ma Dio, il quale da' secoli è nostro Re ha operato salute nel mezzo della terra.	12 That is what the wicked are like, piling up wealth without any worries.
13 Tu desti col tuo potere saldezza al mare: tu le teste de' dragoni conculcasti nelle acque.	13 Was it useless, then, to have kept my own heart clean, to have washed my hands in innocence?
14 Tu spezzasti le teste del dragone; gli facesti preda de' popoli dell'Etiopia.	14 When I was under a hail of blows al day long, and punished every morning,
15 Tu apristi le rupi in fontane, e torrenti: tu asciugasti i fiumi nella loro forza.	15 had I said, 'I shal talk like them,' I should have betrayed your children's race.
16 Tuo è il giorno e tua è la notte: tu creasti l'aurora, ed il sole.	16 So I set myself to understand this: how difficult I found it!
17 Tu facesti la terra, e i suoi confini: opera tua sono e l'estate, e la primavera.	17 Until I went into the sanctuaries of the gods and understood what was destined to become of them.
18 Di queste cose ricordati. Il nemico ha detti improperj contro il Signore: e un popolo stolto ha bestemmiato il tuo nome.	18 You place them on a slippery slope and drive them down into chaos.
19 Non dare in poter delle bestie le anime di quelli, che te onorano, e non ti scordar per sempre dell'anime de' tuoi poveri.	19 How sudden their hideous destruction! They are swept away, annihilated by terror!
20 Volgi lo sguardo alla tua alleanza; perocché i più oscuri nomini della terra hanno copia di case iniquamente occupate.	20 Like a dream upon waking, Lord, when you awake, you dismiss their image.
21 L'uomo umiliato non si parta (da te) svergognato: il povero, e il bisognoso daran lodi al tuo nome.	21 My heart grew embittered, my affections dried up,
22 Levati su, o Signore, giudica la tua causa: ricordati degli oltraggi fatti a te, di quelli, che un popolo stolto ti fa tutto giorno.	22 I was stupid and uncomprehending, a clumsy animal in your presence.
23 Non ti scordare delle voci de' tuoi nemici: la soperbia di color, che ti odiano va sempre in su.	23 Even so, I stayed in your presence, you grasped me by the right hand;
	24 you will guide me with advice, and wil draw me in the wake of your glory.
	25 Who else is there for me in heaven? And, with you, I lack nothing on earth.
	26 My heart and my flesh are pining away: my heart's rock, my portion, God for ever!
	27 Truly, those who abandon you will perish; you destroy those who adulterously desert you,
	28 whereas my happiness is to be near God. I have made the Lord Yahweh my refuge, to tel of al yourworks.
