1 Történt pedig, hogy Jézus szombaton az egyik vezető farizeus házába ment étkezni, és azok figyelték őt.	1 And it happened that, when Jesus entered the house of a certain leader of the Pharisees on the Sabbath to eat bread, they were observing him.
2 Ott egy vízkóros ember került elébe.	2 And behold, a certain man before him was afflicted with edema.
3 Ekkor Jézus megkérdezte a törvénytudóktól és a farizeusoktól: »Szabad-e szombaton gyógyítani vagy nem?«	3 And responding, Jesus spoke to the experts in the law and to the Pharisees, saying, “Is it lawful to cure on the Sabbath?”
4 Azok csak hallgattak. Erre megérintette a beteget, meggyógyította, és elbocsátotta.	4 But they kept silent. Yet truly, taking hold of him, he healed him and sent him away.
5 Aztán így szólt hozzájuk: »Ha közületek valakinek a fia vagy az ökre kútba esik, nem húzza-e ki rögtön, akár szombaton is?«	5 And responding to them, he said, “Which of you will have a donkey or an ox fall into a pit, and will not promptly pull him out, on the day of the Sabbath?”
6 Erre nem tudtak mit felelni.	6 And they were unable to respond to him about these things.
7 A meghívottaknak pedig példabeszédet mondott, mert megfigyelte, hogy hogyan válogatják az első helyeket. Ezt mondta nekik:	7 Then he also told a parable, to those who were invited, noticing how they chose the first seats at the table, saying to them:
8 »Amikor lakodalomba hívnak, ne ülj az első helyre. Nehogy előforduljon, hogy ha nálad előkelőbbet is meghívtak volna,	8 “When you are invited to a wedding, do not sit down in the first place, lest perhaps someone more honored than yourself may have been invited by him.
9 odajöjjön az, aki téged és őt is meghívta, és azt mondja neked: ‘Add át a helyedet!’ És akkor szégyenszemre az utolsó helyet kell elfoglalnod.	9 And then he who called both you and him, approaching, may say to you, ‘Give this place to him.’ And then you would begin, with shame, to take the last place.
10 Ha tehát meghívnak, menj, telepedj le az utolsó helyre. Akkor odajön majd az, aki meghívott, és ezt mondja neked: ‘Barátom! Menj följebb!’ Így tiszteletet ébresztesz az egész vendégsereg előtt.	10 But when you are invited, go, sit down in the lowest place, so that, when he who invited you arrives, he may say to you, ‘Friend, go up higher.’ Then you will have glory in the sight of those who sit at table together with you.
11 Mert aki magát fölmagasztalja, megalázzák, és aki magát megalázza, fölmagasztalják.«	11 For everyone who exalts himself shall be humbled, and whoever humbles himself shall be exalted.”
12 Annak pedig, aki őt meghívta, ezt mondta: »Amikor ebédet vagy vacsorát adsz, ne a barátaidat és testvéreidet hívd meg, se a rokonaidat és gazdag szomszédaidat, akik majd téged is meghívnak és viszonozzák neked.	12 Then he also said to the one who had invited him: “When you prepare a lunch or dinner, do not choose to call your friends, or your brothers, or your relatives, or your wealthy neighbors, lest perhaps they might then invite you in return and repayment would made to you.
13 Amikor vendégséget rendezel, hívd meg a szegényeket, bénákat, sántákat, vakokat.	13 But when you prepare a feast, call the poor, the disabled, the lame, and the blind.
14 Így boldog leszel, mert ők nem tudják azt viszonozni neked. De amikor az igazak feltámadnak, megkapod jutalmadat.«	14 And you will be blessed because they do not have a way to repay you. So then, your recompense will be in the resurrection of the just.”
15 Az egyik vendég ennek hallatára így szólt hozzá: »Boldog, aki asztalhoz ülhet az Isten országában!«	15 When someone sitting at table with him had heard these things, he said to him, “Blessed is he who will eat bread in the kingdom of God.”
16 Ő pedig ezt válaszolta: »Egy ember nagy vendégséget rendezett és sokakat meghívott.	16 So he said to him: “A certain man prepared a great feast, and he invited many.
17 A vacsora órájában elküldte szolgáját, hogy szóljon a meghívottaknak: ‘Jöjjetek, mert már minden el van készítve!’	17 And he sent his servant, at the hour of the feast, to tell the invited to come; for now everything was ready.
18 De azok közül sorra mindegyik kezdte magát kimenteni. Az első azt mondta neki: ‘Földet vettem, el kell mennem megnézni; kérlek, ments ki engem!’	18 And at once they all began to make excuses. The first said to him: ‘I bought a farm, and I need to go out and see it. I ask you to excuse me.’
19 A másik meg azt mondta: ‘Öt pár ökröt vettem, megyek kipróbálni őket; kérlek, ments ki engem!’	19 And another said: ‘I bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to examine them. I ask you to excuse me.’
20 Egy másik azt mondta: ‘Most nősültem, azért nem mehetek!’	20 And another said, ‘I have taken a wife, and therefore I am not able to go.’
21 Amikor a szolga visszatért, jelentette mindezt urának. Erre a házigazda megharagudott, és ezt mondta szolgájának: ‘Menj ki gyorsan a város tereire és utcáira, és hozd be ide a szegényeket, bénákat, vakokat és sántákat!’	21 And returning, the servant reported these things to his lord. Then the father of the family, becoming angry, said to his servant: ‘Go out quickly into the streets and neighborhoods of the city. And lead here the poor, and the disabled, and the blind, and the lame.’
22 A szolga jelentette: ‘Uram! Megtörtént, amit parancsoltál, de még mindig van hely.’	22 And the servant said: ‘It has been done, just as you ordered, lord, and there is still room.’
23 Akkor az Úr ezt mondta a szolgájának: ‘Menj ki az utakra és a sövényekhez! Kényszerítsd bejönni az embereket, hogy megteljék a házam.’	23 And the lord said to the servant: ‘Go out to the highways and hedges, and compel them to enter, so that my house may be filled.
24 Mondom azonban nektek, hogy azok közül, akik hivatalosak voltak, senki sem ízleli meg a lakomámat.«	24 For I tell you, that none of those men who were invited will taste of my feast.’ ”
25 Nagy népsokaság ment vele, ő pedig hozzájuk fordult, és ezt mondta:	25 Now great crowds traveled with him. And turning around, he said to them:
26 »Ha valaki hozzám jön, és nem gyűlöli apját és anyját, feleségét és gyermekeit, fivéreit és nővéreit, sőt még saját életét is, nem lehet az én tanítványom.	26 “If anyone comes to me, and does not hate his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brothers, and sisters, and yes, even his own life, he is not able to be my disciple.
27 És aki nem hordozza keresztjét és nem jön utánam, nem lehet az én tanítványom.	27 And whoever does not bear his cross and come after me, is not able to be my disciple.
28 Mert ki az közületek, aki tornyot akar építeni, és nem ül le előbb, hogy kiszámítsa a költségeket, vajon van-e miből befejezni?	28 For who among you, wanting to build a tower, would not first sit down and determine the costs that are required, to see if he has the means to complete it?
29 Nehogy miután az alapot lerakta és nem tudta befejezni, mindenki, aki látja, csúfolni kezdje őt:	29 Otherwise, after he will have laid the foundation and not been able to finish it, everyone who sees it may begin to mock him,
30 ‘Ez az ember elkezdett építeni, de nem tudta befejezni.’	30 saying: ‘This man began to build what he was not able to finish.’
31 Vagy melyik király az, aki amikor háborúba indul egy másik király ellen, nem ül le előbb, hogy megfontolja, vajon képes-e tízezerrel szembeszállni azzal, aki húszezerrel jön ellene?	31 Or, what king, advancing to engage in war against another king, would not first sit down and consider whether he may be able, with ten thousand, to meet one who comes against him with twenty thousand?
32 Mert ha nem, követséget küld hozzá és békét kér, amikor még messze van.	32 If not, then while the other is still far away, sending a delegation, he would ask him for terms of peace.
33 Így tehát aki közületek nem mond le mindenről, amije van, nem lehet az én tanítványom.	33 Therefore, everyone of you who does not renounce all that he possesses is not able to be my disciple.
34 Jó a só; de ha a só ízét veszti, mivel sózzák meg?	34 Salt is good. But if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be seasoned?
35 Sem a földre, sem a szemétdombra nem való, hanem hogy kidobják. Akinek van füle a hallásra, hallja meg!«	35 It is useful neither in soil, nor in manure, so instead, it shall be thrown away. Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.”
