DOUAI-RHEIMS	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 If you keep my commandments, you shall abide in my love; as I also have kept my Father's commandments, and do abide in his love.	1 «Yo soy la verdadera vid y mi Padre es el viñador.
2 dummy verses inserted by amos	2 El corta todos mis sarmientos que no dan fruto; al que da fruto, lo poda para que dé más todavía.
3 dummy verses inserted by amos	3 Ustedes ya están limpios por la palabra que yo les anuncié.
4 dummy verses inserted by amos	4 Permanezcan en mí, como yo permanezco en ustedes. Así como el sarmiento no puede dar fruto si no permanece en la vid, tampoco ustedes, si no permanecen en mí.
5 dummy verses inserted by amos	5 Yo soy la vid, ustedes los sarmientos El que permanece en mí, y yo en él, da mucho fruto, porque separados de mí, nada pueden hacer.
6 dummy verses inserted by amos	6 Pero el que no permanece en mí, es como el sarmiento que se tira y se seca; después se recoge, se arroja al fuego y arde.
7 dummy verses inserted by amos	7 Si ustedes permanecen en mí y mis palabras permanecen en ustedes, pidan lo que quieran y lo obtendrán.
8 dummy verses inserted by amos	8 La gloria de mi Padre consiste en que ustedes den fruto abundante, y así sean mis discípulos.
9 dummy verses inserted by amos	9 Como el Padre me amó, también yo los he amado a ustedes. Permanezcan en mi amor.
10 dummy verses inserted by amos	10 Si cumplen mis mandamientos, permanecerán en mi amor. como yo cumplí los mandamientos de mi Padre y permanezco en su amor.
11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and your joy may be filled.	11 Les he dicho esto para que mi gozo sea el de ustedes, y ese gozo sea perfecto.
12 This is my commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you.	12 Este es mi mandamiento: Amense los unos a los otros, como yo los he amado.
13 Greater love than this no man hath, that a man lay down his life for his friends.	13 No hay amor más grande que dar la vida por los amigos.
14 You are my friends, if you do the things that I command you.	14 Ustedes son mis amigos si hacen lo que yo les mando.
15 I will not now call you servants: for the servant knoweth not what his lord doth. But I have called you friends: because all things whatsoever I have heard of my Father, I have made known to you.	15 Ya no los llamo servidores, porque el servidor ignora lo que hace su señor; yo los llamo amigos, porque les he dado a conocer todo lo que oí de mi Padre.
16 You have not chosen me: but I have chosen you; and have appointed you, that you should go, and should bring forth fruit; and your fruit should remain: that whatsoever you shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.	16 No son ustedes los que me eligieron a mí, sino yo el que los elegí a ustedes, y los destiné para que vayan y den fruto, y ese fruto sea duradero. Así todo lo que pidan al Padre en mi Nombre, él se lo concederá.
17 These things I command you, that you love one another.	17 Lo que yo les mando es que se amen los unos a los otros.
18 If the world hate you, know ye, that it hath hated me before you.	18 Si el mundo los odia, sepan que antes me ha odiado a mí.
19 If you had been of the world, the world would love its own: but because you are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.	19 Si ustedes fueran del mundo, el mundo los amaría como cosa suya. Pero como no son del mundo, sino que yo los elegí y los saqué de él, él mundo los odia.
20 Remember my word that I said to you: The servant is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have kept my word, they will keep yours also.	20 Acuérdense de lo que les dije: el servidor no es más grande que su señor. Si me persiguieron a mí, también los perseguirán a ustedes; si fueron fieles a mi palabra, también serán fieles a la de ustedes.
21 But all these things they will do to you for my name's sake: because they know not him who sent me.	21 Pero los tratarán así a causa de mi Nombre, porque no conocen al que me envió.
22 If I had not come, and spoken to them, they would not have sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.	22 Si yo hubiera venido ni les hubiera hablado, no tendrían pecado; pero ahora su pecado no tiene disculpa.
23 He that hateth me, hateth my Father also.	23 El que me odia, odia también a mi Padre.
24 If I had not done among them the works that no other man hath done, they would not have sin; but now they have both seen and hated both me and my Father.	24 Si yo no hubiera hecho entre ellos obras que ningún otro realizó, no tendrían pecado. Pero ahora las han visto, y sin embargo, me odian a mí y a mi Padre,
25 But that the word may be fulfilled which is written in their law: They hated me without cause.	25 para que se cumpla lo que está escrito en la Ley: Me han odiado sin motivo.
26 But when the Paraclete cometh, whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceedeth from the Father, he shall give testimony of me.	26 Cuando venga el Paráclito que yo les enviaré desde el Padre, el Espíritu de la Verdad que proviene del Padre, él dará testimonio de mí.
27 And you shall give testimony, because you are with me from the beginning.	27 Y ustedes también dan testimonio, porque están conmigo desde el principio».
