DOUAI-RHEIMSGREEK BIBLE
And it came to pass, that when the multitudes pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Genesareth,1 Ενω δε ο οχλος συνεθλιβεν αυτον δια να ακουη τον λογον του Θεου, αυτος ιστατο πλησιον της λιμνης Γεννησαρετ,
And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.2 και ειδε δυο πλοια ισταμενα παρα την λιμνην οι δε αλιεις αποβαντες απ' αυτων εξεπλυναν τα δικτυα.
And going into one of the ships that was Simon's, he desired him to draw back a little from the land. And sitting he taught the multitudes out of the ship.3 Εμβας δε εις εν των πλοιων, το οποιον ητο του Σιμωνος, παρεκαλεσεν αυτον να απομακρυνη αυτο ολιγον απο της γης, και καθησας εδιδασκεν εκ του πλοιου τους οχλους.
Now when he had ceased to speak, he said to Simon: Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.4 Καθως δε επαυσε λαλων, ειπε προς τον Σιμωνα?
And Simon answering said to him: Master, we have labored all the night, and have taken nothing: but at thy word I will let down the net.5 Και αποκριθεις ο Σιμων, ειπε προς αυτον?
And when they had done this, they enclosed a very great multitude of fishes, and their net broke.6 Και αφου εκαμον τουτο, συνεκλεισαν πληθος πολυ ιχθυων και διεσχιζετο το δικτυον αυτων.
And they beckoned to their partners that were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they were almost sinking.7 Και εκαμον νευμα εις τους συντροφους τους εν τω αλλω πλοιω, δια να ελθωσι να βοηθησωσιν αυτους?
Which when Simon Peter saw, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying: Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord.8 Ιδων δε ο Σιμων Πετρος, προσεπεσε προς τα γονατα του Ιησου, λεγων?
For he was wholly astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken.9 Επειδη εκπληξις κατελαβεν αυτον και παντας τους μετ' αυτου δια την αγραν των ιχθυων, την οποιαν συνελαβον,
And so were also James and John the sons of Zebedee, who were Simon's partners. And Jesus saith to Simon: Fear not: from henceforth thou shalt catch men.10 ομοιως δε και τον Ιακωβον και Ιωαννην, τους υιους του Ζεβεδαιου, οιτινες ησαν συντροφοι του Σιμωνος.
And having brought their ships to land, leaving all things, they followed him.11 Και αφου εφεραν τα πλοια επι την γην, αφησαντες απαντα ηκολουθησαν αυτον.
And it came to pass, when he was ina certain city, behold a man full of leprosy, who seeing Jesus, and falling on his face, besought him, saying: Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.12 Και ενω ητο εν μια των πολεων ιδου, ανθρωπος πληρης λεπρας?
And stretching forth his hand, he touched him, saying: I will. Be thou cleansed. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.13 Και εκτεινας την χειρα, ηγγισεν αυτον και ειπε?
And he charged him that he should tell no man, but, Go, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing according as Moses commanded, for a testimony to them.14 Και αυτος παρηγγειλεν αυτον να μη ειπη τουτο προς μηδενα, αλλ' υπαγε, λεγει, και δειξον σεαυτον εις τον ιερεα και προσφερε περι του καθαρισμου σου, καθως προσεταξεν ο Μωυσης, δια μαρτυριαν εις αυτους.
But the fame of him went abroad the more, and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.15 Αλλ' ετι μαλλον διηρχετο η φημη περι αυτου, και συνηθροιζοντο οχλοι πολλοι, δια να ακουωσι και να θεραπευωνται υπ' αυτου απο των ασθενειων αυτων?
And he retired into the desert, and prayed.16 αυτος δε απεσυρετο εις τας ερημους και προσηυχετο.
And it came to pass on a certain day, as he sat teaching, that there were also Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, that were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judea and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was to heal them.17 Και εν μια των ημερων, ενω αυτος εδιδασκεν, εκαθηντο Φαρισαιοι και νομοδιδασκαλοι, οιτινες ειχον ελθει εκ πασης κωμης της Γαλιλαιας και Ιουδαιας και Ιερουσαλημ?
And behold, men brought in a bed a man, who had the palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.18 Και ιδου, ανδρες φεροντες επι κλινης ανθρωπον, οστις ητο παραλυτικος, και εζητουν να φερωσιν αυτον εσω και να θεσωσιν ενωπιον αυτου?
And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in, because of the multitude, they went up upon the roof, and let him down through the tiles with his bed into the midst before Jesus.19 και μη ευροντες δια ποιας εισοδου να φερωσιν αυτον εσω εξ αιτιας του οχλου, ανεβησαν επι το δωμα και δια των κεραμιδων κατεβιβασαν αυτον μετα του κλινιδιου εις το μεσον εμπροσθεν του Ιησου.
Whose faith when he saw, he said: Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.20 Και ιδων την πιστιν αυτων, ειπε προς αυτον?
And the scribes and Pharisees began to think, saying: Who is this who speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?21 Και ηρχισαν να διαλογιζωνται οι γραμματεις και οι Φαρισαιοι, λεγοντες? Τις ειναι ουτος, οστις λαλει βλασφημιας; τις δυναται να συγχωρη αμαρτιας ειμη μονος ο Θεος;
And when Jesus knew their thoughts, answering, he said to them: What is it you think in your hearts?22 Νοησας δε ο Ιησους τους διαλογισμους αυτων, απεκριθη και ειπε προς αυτους? Τι διαλογιζεσθε εν ταις καρδιαις σας;
Which is easier to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say, Arise and walk?23 τι ειναι ευκολωτερον, να ειπω, Συγκεχωρημεναι ειναι εις σε αι αμαρτιαι σου, η να ειπω, Σηκωθητι και περιπατει;
But that you may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,) I say to thee, Arise, take up thy bed, and go into thy house.24 αλλα δια να γνωρισητε οτι εξουσιαν εχει ο ιος του ανθρωπου επι της γης να συγχωρη αμαρτιας, ειπε προς τον παραλυτικον?
And immediately rising up before them, he took up the bed on which he lay; and he went away to his own house, glorifying God.25 Και παρευθυς εγερθεις ενωπιον αυτων, εσηκωσε το κλινιδιον εφ' ου κατεκειτο και ανεχωρησεν εις τον οικον αυτου, δοξαζων τον Θεον.
And all were astonished; and they glorified God. And they were filled with fear, saying: We have seen wonderful things to day.26 Και εκστασις κατελαβεν απαντας και εδοξαζον τον Θεον, και επλησθησαν φοβου, λεγοντες οτι ειδομεν παραδοξα σημερον.
And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom, and he said to him: Follow me.27 Και μετα ταυτα εξηλθε και ειδε τελωνην τινα Λευιν το ονομα, καθημενον εις το τελωνιον, και ειπε προς αυτον?
And leaving all things, he rose up and followed him.28 Και αφησας απαντα, εσηκωθη και ηκολουθησεν αυτον.
And Levi made him a great feast in his own house; and there was a great company of publicans, and of others, that were at table with them.29 Και εκαμεν εις αυτον ο Λευις υποδοχην μεγαλην εν τη οικια αυτου, και ητο πληθος πολυ τελωνων και αλλων, οιτινες εκαθηντο μετ' αυτων εις την τραπεζαν.
But the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying to his disciples: Why do you eat and drink with publicans and sinners?30 Και εγογγυζον οι γραμματεις αυτων και οι Φαρισαιοι προς τους μαθητας αυτου, λεγοντες? Δια τι μετα τελωνων και αμαρτωλων τρωγετε και πινετε;
And Jesus answering, said to them: They that are whole, need not the physician: but they that are sick.31 Και αποκριθεις ο Ιησους, ειπε προς αυτους?
I came not to call the just, but sinners to penance.32 Δεν ηλθον δια να καλεσω δικαιους, αλλα αμαρτωλους εις μετανοιαν.
And they said to him: Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and the disciples of the Pharisees in like manner; but thine eat and drink?33 Οι δε ειπον προς αυτον? Δια τι οι μαθηται του Ιωαννου νηστευουσι συχνα και καμνουσι δεησεις, ομοιως και οι των Φαρισαιων, οι δε ιδικοι σου τρωγουσι και πινουσιν;
To whom he said: Can you make the children of the bridegroom fast, whilst the bridegroom is with them?34 Ο δε ειπε προς αυτους? Μηπως δυνασθε να καμητε τους υιους του νυμφωνος να νηστευωσιν, ενοσω ειναι μετ' αυτων ο νυμφιος;
But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, then shall they fast in those days.35 θελουσιν ομως ελθει ημεραι, οταν αφαιρεθη απ' αυτων ο νυμφιος?
And he spoke also a similitude to them: That no man putteth a piece from a new garment upon an old garment; otherwise he both rendeth the new, and the piece taken from the new agreeth not with the old.36 Ελεγε δε και παραβολην προς αυτους, οτι ουδεις βαλλει επιρραμμα ιματιου νεου επι ιματιον παλαιον ει δε μη, και το νεον σχιζει και με το παλαιον δεν συμφωνει το επιρραμμα το απο του νεου.
And no man putteth new wine into old bottle: otherwise the new wine will break the bottles, and it will be spilled, and the bottles will be lost.37 Και ουδεις βαλλει οινον νεον εις ασκους παλαιους ει δε μη, ο νεος οινος θελει σχισει τους ασκους, και αυτος θελει εκχυθη και οι ασκοι θελουσι φθαρη
But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.38 αλλα πρεπει να βαλληται ο νεος οινος εις ασκους νεους, και αμφοτερα διατηρουνται.
And no man drinking old, hath presently a mind to new: for he saith, The old is better.39 Και ουδεις αφου πιη οινον παλαιον, θελει ευθυς νεον?
