Psalms 79

1 A psalm for Asaph. O God, the heathens are come into thy inheritance, they have defiled thy holy temple: they have made Jerusalem as a place to keep fruit.	1 - Al corifeo: sopra «Giglio del testimonio». Di Asaf. Salmo.
2 They have given the dead bodies of thy servants to be meat for the fowls of the air: the flesh of thy saints for the beasts of the earth.	2 O pastore d'Israele, ascolta, tu che guidi Giuseppe come una pecorella! O assiso sui Cherubini, mostrati [nel tuo splendore],
3 They have poured out their blood as water, round about Jerusalem and there was none to bury them.	3 dinanzi ad Efraim, Beniamino e Manasse. Sveglia la tua potenzae vieni a salvarci.
4 We are become a reproach to our neighbours: a scorn and derision to them that are round about us.	4 O Dio [degli eserciti], ristabiliscici, e mostra la tua faccia e sarem salvi!
5 How long, O Lord, wilt thou be angry for ever: shall thy zeal be kindled like a fire?	5 O Signore, Dio degli eserciti, sino a quando sarai tu adirato contro la preghiera del tuo servo?
6 Pour out thy wrath upon the nations that have not known thee: and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.	6 ci nutrirai con pane di lagrime e ci abbevererai di pianto in [larga] misura?
7 Because they have devoured Jacob; and have laid waste his place.	7 Ci hai reso [oggetto di] contesa a' nostri vicini, e i nemici nostri si fan beffe di noi.
8 Remember not our former iniquities: let thy mercies speedily prevent us, for we are become exceeding poor.	8 O Dio degli eserciti, ristabiliscici, e mostra la tua faccia e sarem salvi.
9 Help us, O God, our saviour: and for the glory of thy name, O Lord, deliver us: and forgive us our sins for thy name's sake:	9 Una vigna dall'Egitto trasportasti: cacciasti via nazioni e la piantasti.
10 Lest they should say among the Gentiles: Where is their God? And let him be made known among the nations before our eyes, By the revenging the blood of thy servants, which hath been shed:	10 Le facesti strada davanti, facesti barbicar le sue radici e riempì la terra.
11 let the sighing of the prisoners come in before thee. According to the greatness of thy arm, take possession of the children of them that have been put to death.	11 Coprì i monti la sua ombra, e i suoi rami i cedri di Dio. [O Dio degli eserciti, ristabiliscici, e mostra la tua faccia e sarem salvi].
12 And render to our neighbours sevenfold in their bosom: the reproach wherewith they have reproached thee, O Lord.	12 Stese i suoi tralci sino al mare e sino al fiume le sue propaggini.
13 But we thy people, and the sheep of thy pasture, will give thanks to thee for ever. We will shew forth thy praise, unto generation and generation.	13 Perchè hai distrutto, la sua muraglia, e la vendemmiano quanti passan per via?
	14 L'ha devastata il cinghiale del bosco, e il cinghiale selvatico se nè pasciuto.
	15 O Dio degli eserciti, volgiti, [e mostra la tua faccia e sarem salvi]. Guarda dal cielo, e vedi, visita questa vigna,
	16 e ristorala, lei che la tua destra piantò, e [veglia] sul figliuolo dell'uomo che hai reso forte per te.
	17 [E' stata] bruciata col fuoco e divelta:[che i suoi nemici] per la minaccia del tuo volto periscano!
	18 Sia la tua mano sull'uomo della tua destrae sul figliuolo dell'uomo che hai reso forte per te.
	19 E noi non ci allontaneremo da te; ci ridarai la vita e invocheremo il tuo nome.
	20 O Signore, Dio degli eserciti, ristabiliscici, e mostra la tua faccia e sarem salvi.
