Deuteronomio 14

1 VOI siete figliuoli del Signore Iddio vostro; non vi fate tagliature addosso, e non vi dipelate fra gli occhi, per alcun morto.	1 “Be sons of the Lord your God. You shall not cut yourselves, nor make yourselves bald, because of the dead.
2 Conciossachè tu sii un popolo santo al Signore Iddio tuo; e il Signore ti ha eletto d’infra tutti i popoli che son sopra la terra, per essergli un popolo peculiare.	2 For you are a holy people, for the Lord your God. And he chose you, so that you may be a people particularly his, out of all the nations on earth.
3 Non mangiar cosa alcuna abbominevole.	3 You shall not eat the things that are unclean.
4 Queste son le bestie, delle quali voi potrete mangiare: il bue, la pecora, la capra,	4 These are the animals which you ought to eat: the ox, and the sheep, and the goat,
5 il cervo, il cavriuolo, la gran capra, la rupicapra, il daino, il bufalo, e la camozza.	5 the stag and the roe deer, the gazelle, the wild goat, the addax, the antelope, the giraffe.
6 In somma, voi potrete mangiar d’ogni bestia che ha il piè forcuto, e l’unghia spartita in due, e che rumina.	6 Every beast which has a hoof divided into two parts and which also chews the cud, you shall eat.
7 Ma fra quelle che ruminano, o hanno il piè forcuto, e l’unghia spartita, non mangiate del cammello, nè della lepre, nè del coniglio; conciossiachè ruminino, ma non abbiano l’unghia spartita; sienvi immondi;	7 But those which chew over again, but do not have a divided hoof, you must not eat, such as the camel, the hare, and the hyrax. Since these chew the cud, but do not have a divided the hoof, they shall be unclean to you.
8 nè del porco; conciossiachè egli abbia l’unghia spartita, ma non rumini; siavi immondo. Non mangiate della carne di questi animali, e non toccate i lor corpi morti.	8 The pig also, since it has a divided hoof, but does not chew over again, shall be unclean. Their flesh shall not be eaten, and you shall not touch their carcasses.
9 Di tutti gli animali che son nell’acque, voi potrete mangiar di queste specie, cioè: di tutte quelle che hanno pennette e scaglie;	9 These you shall eat out of all that dwells in the waters: whatever has fins and scales, you shall eat.
10 ma non mangiate di alcuna che non ha pennette e scaglie; sienvi immondi.	10 Whatever is without fins and scales, you shall not eat, for these are unclean.
11 Voi potrete mangiar d’ogni uccello mondo.	11 All the clean birds, you shall eat.
12 E questi son quelli de’ quali non dovete mangiare, cioè: l’aquila, e il girifalco, e l’aquila marina,	12 You shall not eat those that are unclean: such as the eagle, and the griffin, and the osprey,
13 ogni specie di falcone, e di nibbio, e d’avoltoio,	13 the crane, and the vulture, and the kite, according to their kind,
14 e ogni specie di corvo,	14 and any kind of raven,
15 e l’ulula, e la civetta, e la folica, e ogni specie di sparviere,	15 and the ostrich, and the owl, and the gull, and the hawk, according to their kind,
16 e il gufo, e l’ibis, e il cigno,	16 the heron, and the swan, and the ibis,
17 e il pellicano, e la pica, e lo smergo,	17 and the sea bird, the marsh hen, and the night raven,
18 e la cicogna, e ogni specie d’aghirone, e l’upupa, e il vipistrello.	18 the pelican and the plover, each in their kind, likewise the crested hoopoe and the bat.
19 Siavi parimente immondo ogni rettile volatile; non mangisene.	19 And anything which crawls and also has little wings shall be unclean, and shall not be eaten.
20 Voi potrete mangiar d’ogni volatile mondo.	20 All that is clean, you shall eat.
21 Non mangiate d’alcuna carne morta da sè; dalla a mangiare al forestiere che sarà dentro alle tue porte, o vendila ad alcuno straniere; perciocchè tu sei un popol santo al Signore Iddio tuo. Non cuocere il capretto nel latte di sua madre	21 But whatever has died of itself, you shall not eat from it. Give it to the sojourner, who is within your gates, so that he may eat, or sell it to him. For you are the holy people of the Lord your God. You shall not boil a young goat in the milk of his mother.
22 DEL tutto leva la decima di tutta la rendita della tua sementa, prodotta dal campo tuo, ogni anno.	22 Each year, you shall separate the tithes out of all your crops which spring forth from the earth.
23 E mangia davanti al Signore Iddio tuo, nel luogo ch’egli avrà scelto per istanziarvi il suo Nome, le decime del tuo frumento, del tuo mosto, e del tuo olio, e i primi parti del tuo grosso e minuto bestiame; acciocchè tu impari a temere il Signore Iddio tuo del continuo.	23 And you shall eat these in the sight of the Lord your God, in the place which he will choose, so that his name may be invoked there: the tenth part of your grain and wine and oil, and the firstborn from the herds and your sheep. So may you learn to fear the Lord your God at all times.
24 E se il cammino ti è troppo grande, sì che tu non possa portar quelle decime, per esser quel luogo, che il Signore Iddio tuo avrà scelto per mettervi il suo Nome, troppo lontano da te; perciocchè il Signore ti avrà benedetto;	24 But when the way and the place which the Lord your God will have chosen is further away, and he will have blessed you, so that you are not able to carry all these things to it,
25 fanne danari, e metti quegli in borsa, e prendili in mano, e va’ al luogo che il Signore tuo avrà scelto;	25 you shall sell them all, so as to turn them into money, and you shall carry it in your hand, and you shall set out for the place which the Lord will choose.
26 e impiega que’ danari in tutto quello che l’anima tua desidererà, in buoi, in pecore, in vino, e in cervogia, e in somma in qualunque cosa l’anima tua richiederà; e mangia quivi davanti al Signore Iddio tuo, e rallegrati tu e la tua famiglia.	26 And you shall buy with the same money whatever pleases you, either from the herds or from the sheep, and also wine and liquor, and all that your soul desires. And you shall eat in the sight of the Lord your God, and you shall feast: you and your household.
27 E non abbandonare il Levita che sarà dentro alle tue porte; conciossiachè egli non abbia nè parte nè eredità teco.	27 As for the Levite, who is within your gates, take care that you do not abandon him, for he has no other portion within your possession.
28 In capo d’ogni terzo anno, leva tutte le decime della tua entrata di quell’anno, e riponle dentro alle tue porte.	28 In the third year, you shall separate another tenth part of all the things which spring forth for you at that time, and you shall store it within your gates.
29 E venga il Levita conciossiachè egli non abbia nè parte nè eredità teco, e il forestiere, e l’orfano e la vedova, che saranno dentro alle tue porte, e mangino, e sieno saziati; acciocchè il Signore Iddio tuo ti benedica in ogni opera delle tue mani che tu farai	29 And the Levite, who has no other portion or possession with you, and the sojourner as well as the orphan and the widow who are within your gates, shall approach and eat and be satisfied, so that the Lord your God may bless you in all the works of your hands which you shall do.”
