Salmo di cantico di Davide, dato al capo de’ Musici O DIO, lode ti aspetta in Sion; E quivi ti saran pagati i voti.1 Unto the end. A Canticle Psalm of the Resurrection. Shout joyfully to God, all the earth.
O tu ch’esaudisci i preghi, Ogni carne verrà a te.2 Proclaim a psalm to his name. Give glory to his praise.
Cose inique mi avevano sopraffatto; Ma tu purghi le nostre trasgressioni.3 Exclaim to God, “How terrible are your works, O Lord!” According to the fullness of your virtue, your enemies will speak lies about you.
Beato colui che tu avrai eletto, ed avrai fatto accostare a te. Acciocchè abiti ne’ tuoi cortili! Noi saremo saziati de’ beni della tua Casa, Delle cose sante del tuo Tempio.4 Let all the earth adore you and sing psalms to you. May it sing a psalm to your name.
O Dio della nostra salute, Confidanza di tutte le estremità le più lontane della terra e del mare, Rispondici, per la tua giustizia, in maniere tremende5 Draw near and see the works of God, who is terrible in his counsels over the sons of men.
Esso, colla sua potenza, ferma i monti; Egli è cinto di forza.6 He converts the sea into dry land. They will cross the river on foot. There, we will rejoice in him.
Egli acqueta il romor de’ mari, lo strepito delle sue onde, E il tumulto de’ popoli.7 He rules by his virtue for eternity. His eyes gaze upon the nations. May those who exasperate him, not be exalted in themselves.
Onde quelli che abitano nella estremità della terra temono de’ tuoi miracoli: Tu fai giubilare i luoghi, onde esce la mattina e la sera.8 Bless our God, you Gentiles, and make the voice of his praise be heard.
Tu visiti la terra, e l’abbeveri; Tu l’arricchisci grandemente; I ruscelli di Dio son pieni d’acqua; Tu apparecchi agli uomini il lor frumento, dopo che tu l’hai così preparata.9 He has set my soul toward life, and he has granted that my feet may not be shaken.
Tu adacqui le sue porche; tu pareggi i suoi solchi; Tu la stempri colle stille della tua pioggia; tu benedici i suoi germogli;10 For you, O God, have tested us. You have examined us by fire, just as silver is examined.
Tu coroni de’ tuoi beni l’annata; E le tue orbite stillano grasso.11 You have led us into a snare. You have placed tribulations on our back.
Le mandrie del deserto stillano; E i colli son cinti di gioia.12 You have set men over our heads. We have crossed through fire and water. And you have led us out to refreshment.
Le pianure son rivestite di gregge, E le valli coperte di biade; Dànno voci di allegrezza, ed anche cantano13 I will enter your house with holocausts. I will repay my vows to you,
which my lips discerned and my mouth spoke, in my tribulation.
I will offer to you holocausts full of marrow, with the burnt offerings of rams. I will offer to you bulls as well as goats.
Draw near and listen, all you who fear God, and I will describe to you how much he has done for my soul.
I cried out to him with my mouth, and I extolled him under my breath.
If I have seen iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not heed me.
And yet, God has heeded me and he has attended to the voice of my supplication.
Blessed is God, who has not removed my prayer, nor his mercy, from me.
