DIODATI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 LODATE il Signore; Perciocchè egli è cosa buona e dilettevole di salmeggiar l’Iddio nostro; La lode è decevole.	1 Al eluia! Praise Yahweh -- it is good to sing psalms to our God -- how pleasant to praise him.
2 Il Signore è quel ch’edifica Gerusalemme; Egli raccoglierà i dispersi d’Israele.	2 Yahweh, Builder of Jerusalem! He gathers together the exiles of Israel,
3 Egli è quel che guarisce quelli che hanno il cuor rotto, E fascia le lor doglie;	3 healing the broken-hearted and binding up their wounds;
4 Che conta il numero delle stelle; Che le chiama tutte per li nomi loro.	4 he counts out the number of the stars, and gives each one of them a name.
5 Il nostro Signore è grande, e di gran forza; La sua intelligenza è infinita.	5 Our Lord is great, al -powerful, his wisdom beyond al telling.
6 Il Signore solleva i mansueti; Ed abbatte gli empi fino a terra.	6 Yahweh sustains the poor, and humbles the wicked to the ground.
7 Cantate al Signore con lode; Salmeggiate colla cetera all’Iddio nostro;	7 Sing to Yahweh in thanksgiving, play the harp for our God.
8 Il qual copre il cielo di nuvole, Ed apparecchia la pioggia alla terra, E fa che i monti producono l’erba.	8 He veils the sky with clouds, and provides the earth with rain, makes grass grow on the hills andplants for people to use,
9 Che dà la sua pastura al bestiame. A’ figli de’ corvi, che gridano.	9 gives fodder to cattle and to young ravens when they cry.
10 Egli non si compiace nella forza del cavallo; Egli non gradisce le gambe dell’uomo.	10 He takes no delight in the power of horses, no pleasure in human sturdiness;
11 Il Signore gradisce quelli che lo temono, Quelli che sperano nella sua benignità	11 his pleasure is in those who fear him, in those who hope in his faithful love.
12 Gerusalemme, celebra il Signore; Sion, loda il tuo Dio.	12 Praise Yahweh, Jerusalem, Zion, praise your God.
13 Perciocchè egli rinforza le sbarre delle tue porte; Egli benedice i tuoi figliuoli in mezzo di te.	13 For he gives strength to the bars of your gates, he blesses your children within you,
14 Egli è quel che mantiene il tuo paese in pace; Che ti sazia di grascia di frumento;	14 he maintains the peace of your frontiers, gives you your fil of finest wheat.
15 Che manda il suo dire in terra; E la sua parola corre velocissimamente;	15 He sends his word to the earth, his command runs quickly,
16 Che manda la neve a guisa di lana; Che sparge la brina a guisa di cenere;	16 he spreads the snow like flax, strews hoarfrost like ashes,
17 Che getta il suo ghiaccio come per pezzi; E chi potrà durar davanti al suo freddo?	17 he sends ice-crystals like breadcrumbs, and who can withstand that cold?
18 Egli manda la sua parola, e fa struggere quelle cose; Egli fa soffiare il suo vento, è le acque corrono.	18 When he sends his word it thaws them, when he makes his wind blow, the waters are unstopped.
19 Egli annunzia le sue parole a Giacobbe; I suoi statuti e le sue leggi ad Israele.	19 He reveals his word to Jacob, his statutes and judgements to Israel.
20 Egli non ha fatto così a tutte le genti; Ed esse non conoscono le sue leggi. Alleluia	20 For no other nation has he done this, no other has known his judgements.
