1 Voici les rois du pays que les Israélites avaient battus au-delà du Jourdain à l’est, depuis le torrent de l’Arnon jusqu’à la montagne de l’Hermon, avec toute la Araba à l’est (Israël s’était emparé de leurs territoires):	1 The kings of the country, whom the Israelites conquered and whose territory they took, on the further, eastern side of the Jordan, from the Wadi Arnon to Mount Hermon, with the entire Arabah to the east, were asfol ows:
2 Sihon, roi des Amorites, qui habitait Heshbon. Son royaume commençait à Aroër, sur le bord de la vallée de l’Arnon; il comprenait le fond de la vallée, la moitié de Galaad jusqu’au Yabok, le torrent qui marque la frontière avec les Ammonites,	2 Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon, ruled from Aroer which is on the edge of the ArnonVal ey, including the bottom of the val ey, half Gilead and as far as the Jabbok, the river forming the frontier withthe Ammonites;
