1 Îles, taisez-vous, écoutez-moi, tous les peuples, venez, approchez-vous! Et puis vous viendrez prendre la parole, car nous avons à plaider ensemble.	1 Let the islands be silent before me, and let the nations take new strength. Let them draw near, and then speak. Let us apply for judgment together.
2 Qui a fait venir de l’orient, celui qui a rendez-vous avec la victoire? Qui lui soumet les nations et les rois? Son épée les réduit en poussière son arc, en paille qu’emporte le vent.	2 Who has raised up a just man from the east, and has called him to follow him? He will place the nations under his gaze, and he will rule over kings. He will cause them to be like dust before his sword, like chaff driven by the wind before his bow.
3 Il les poursuit sans risques sur des chemins qu’il ne fait qu’effleurer.	3 He will pursue them. He will pass by in peace. No trace will appear after his feet.
4 Qui a fait cela, qui en est l’auteur? Moi qui, depuis l’origine, fais monter les générations. Moi, Yahvé, je suis le premier, et je serai encore avec les derniers.	4 Who has worked and accomplished these things, calling to the generations from the beginning? “It is I, the Lord! I am the first and the last.”
5 Les îles l’ont vu et elles se sont effrayées, les extrémités de la terre en ont tremblé.	5 The islands saw it and were afraid. The ends of the earth were stupefied. They drew near and arrived.
6 (Chacun aide son compagnon et lui dit: “Courage!”	6 Each one will help his neighbor and will say to his brother, “Be strengthened.”
7 L’artisan encourage l’orfèvre, celui qui finit au marteau encourage celui qui tape sur l’enclume. Il dit de la soudure: “Elle est bonne”, et il la renforce avec des clous pour que rien ne bouge.)	7 The coppersmith striking with the mallet encouraged him who was forging at that time, saying, “It is ready for soldering.” And he strengthened it with nails, so that it would not be moved.
8 Mais toi, Israël, mon serviteur, Jacob que j’ai choisi, race d’Abraham mon ami,	8 But you, O Israel, are my servant, O Jacob, whom I have chosen, the offspring of my friend Abraham.
9 je t’ai saisi aux extrémités de la terre. Je t’ai appelé d’une région lointaine et je t’ai dit: “Tu es mon serviteur que j’ai choisi avant tout autre.”	9 For his sake, I have taken you from the ends of the earth, and I have called you from its distant places. And I said to you: “You are my servant. I have chosen you, and I have not cast you aside.”
10 Ne crains rien car je suis avec toi, n’aie pas peur car je suis ton Dieu. Je t’ai donné la force, et puis je t’ai aidé, et je t’ai soutenu de ma main victorieuse.	10 Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not turn away, for I am your God. I have strengthened you, and I have assisted you, and the right hand of my just one has upheld you.
11 Ceux qui crient après toi s’en iront déçus, confus; tes adversaires seront réduits à rien et périront.	11 Behold, all who fight against you shall be confounded and ashamed. They will be as if they did not exist, and the men who contradict you will perish.
12 Tu chercheras les opposants et tu ne les trouveras plus, ceux qui te font la guerre seront réduits à rien, anéantis.	12 You will seek them, and you will not find them. The men who rebel against you will be as if they did not exist. And the men who make war against you will be like something that has been consumed.
13 Car moi, Yahvé, je suis ton Dieu. Je t’ai saisi par la main droite et je te dis: “Ne crains pas, je suis ton secours.”	13 For I am the Lord your God. I take you by your hand, and I say to you: Do not be afraid. I have helped you.
14 Ne crains pas, pauvre Jacob, toi Israël, si fragile! C’est moi ton secours - parole de Yahvé. Le Saint d’Israël s’est fait ton rédempteur.	14 Fear not, O worm of Jacob, you who are dead within Israel. I have helped you, says the Lord, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
15 Je veux faire de toi une herse, un traîneau tout neuf à doubles dents. Tu écraseras les montagnes, tu les mettras en pièces et tu rendras les collines semblables à la paille.	15 I have established you like a new threshing cart, having serrated blades. You will thresh the mountains and crush them. And you will turn the hills into chaff.
16 Tu les vanneras et le vent les emportera, l’ouragan les dispersera, et toi, tu seras tout fier de Yahvé; le Saint d’Israël sera ta gloire.	16 You will winnow them, and the wind will blow them away, and the whirlwind will scatter them. And you shall exult in the Lord; you shall rejoice in the Holy One of Israel.
17 Les pauvres cherchent de l’eau, et rien; leur langue est desséchée par la soif. Mais moi, Yahvé, je réponds à leur appel; moi, le Dieu d’Israël, je ne les abandonnerai pas.	17 The indigent and the poor are seeking water, but there is none. Their tongue has been dried up by thirst. I, the Lord, will heed them. I, the God of Israel, will not abandon them.
18 Je ferai jaillir des torrents sur les montagnes déboisées, des sources au milieu des vallées. Je ferai du désert un étang, et sur la terre aride couleront des fontaines.	18 I will open rivers in the high hills, and fountains in the midst of the plains. I will turn the desert into pools of water, and the impassable land into streams of water.
19 Dans le désert je planterai le cèdre, l’acacia, le chêne et l’olivier; dans la steppe je mettrai côte à côte le cyprès, le platane et le buis.	19 I will plant the cedar in a deserted place, with the thorn, and the myrtle, and the olive tree. In the desert, I will plant the pine, and the elm, and the box tree together,
20 Alors on verra et on saura, on réfléchira et comprendra tout à la fois, que c’est la main de Yahvé qui a fait ces choses, c’est le Saint d’Israël qui les a créées.	20 so that they may see and know, acknowledge and understand, together, that the hand of the Lord has accomplished this, and that the Holy One of Israel has created it.
21 Venez défendre votre cause, dit Yahvé, donnez vos arguments, dit le roi de Jacob.	21 Bring your case forward, says the Lord. Bring it here, if you have anything to allege, says the King of Jacob.
22 Qu’ils s’approchent, et qu’ils nous parlent des événements à venir. Vos prédictions passées, quelles étaient-elles? Nous y ferons très attention pour en connaître la suite. Ou bien parlez-nous des événements à venir,	22 Let them approach and announce to us the things that will occur. Announce to us the things that were before. And we will apply our heart to them, and we will know their end. And so, reveal to us the things that will occur.
23 annoncez-nous ce qui doit arriver, et nous saurons que vous êtes des dieux. Au moins faites quelque chose, bien ou mal, nous le verrons et nous vous craindrons.	23 Announce the things that will occur in the future, and we will know that you are gods. Likewise, accomplish good or evil, if you are able, and let us speak of it and see it together.
24 Mais non, vous n’êtes rien, et vos œuvres sont moins que rien: comment peut-on vous choisir?	24 Behold, you exist out of nothing, and your work is from what does not exist; he who has chosen you is an abomination.
25 (Dieu dit:) Du nord je l’ai appelé, et il est venu, depuis l’orient il a été appelé par son nom. Il piétine les gouverneurs comme de la boue, comme le potier quand il prépare son argile.	25 I have raised up one from the north, and he will arrive from the rising of the sun. He will call upon my name, and he will reduce magistrates to mud, like a potter working with clay.
26 Mais qui l’avait annoncé depuis le début, pour que nous le sachions? Il fallait le dire à l’avance, et nous pourrions dire: C’est exact! Mais nul ne l’a annoncé, nul ne l’a fait savoir; personne n’a entendu vos paroles.	26 Who has announced this from its rising, so that we may know it, or from its beginning, so that we may say, “You are just.” There is no one who either announces, or predicts, or hears your words.
27 Moi le premier j’ai dit à Sion: Les voilà! j’ai dit à Jérusalem: Je t’envoie de bonnes nouvelles!	27 The first one will say to Zion: “Behold, they are here,” and to Jerusalem, “I will present an evangelist.”
28 J’ai regardé: il n’y avait personne chez eux pour donner un avis, pas un que je puisse interroger pour avoir une réponse.	28 And I saw, and there was no one among any of them to consult, or who, when I asked, could answer a word.
29 Tous ensemble ne sont rien, leurs œuvres, moins que rien, et leurs statues, du vent et du vide.	29 Behold, they are all unjust, and their works are empty. Their idols are wind and emptiness.
