1 Nell'anno secondo di Dario re (di Persia), nel mese VI, nel primo dì, parlò il Signore in mano di Aggeo profeta a Zorobabel, figliuolo di Salatiel, duca di Giuda, e a Iesù, figliuolo di Iosedec, sacerdote grande, dicendo:	1 In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, the word of the Lord came by the hand of Aggeus the prophet, to Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, governor of Juda, and to Jesus the son of Josedec the high priest, saying:
2 Questo dice il Signore delli esèrciti, dicendo: questo popolo dice: non è anche venuto il tempo di edificare la casa del Signore.	2 Thus saith the Lord of hosts, saying: This people saith: The time is not yet come for building the house of the Lord.
3 E parlò il Signore in mano di Aggeo profeta, dicendo:	3 And the word of the Lord came by the hand of Aggeus the prophet, saying:
4 Or non è tempo a voi, che abitiate nelle case curiose e ornate, e questa casa sia diserta?	4 Is it time for you to dwell in ceiled houses, and this house lie desolate?
5 E ora questo dice il Signore degli esèrciti: ponete li cuori vostri sopra le vie vostre.	5 And now thus saith the Lord of hosts: Set your hearts to consider your ways.
6 Voi seminaste molto, e ricoglieste poco; mangiaste, e non vi saziaste; beveste, e non v' inebriaste; copristevi, e non vi riscaldaste; e colui che radunò le mercedi (e guadagni) sì le mise nel sacco pertugiato (e forato).	6 You have sowed much, and brought in little: you have eaten, but have not had enough: you have drunk, but have not been filled with drink: you have clothed yourselves, but have not been warmed: and he that hath earned wages, put them into a bag with holes.
7 Questo dice il Signore degli eserciti: ponete li cuori vostri sopra le vie vostre.	7 Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Set Your hearts upon your ways:
8 Salite nel monte, portate li legni, edificatemi la casa; e sarammi accettevole, e sarov vi glorificato, dice il Signore.	8 Go up to the mountain, bring timber, and build the house: and it shall be acceptable to me, and I shall be glorified, saith the Lord.
9 Voi avete ragguardato ad avere più, ed ecco ch' egli è diventato meno; e portàstevelo in casa, e io ve'l dispersi; e per qual cagione (vi sono avvenute queste cose) dice il Signore degli esèrciti? certo per che la casa mia è deserta, e ciascuno di voi è presto alla utilità della casa sua.	9 You have looked for more, and behold it became less, and you brought it home, and I blowed it away: why, saith the Lord of hosts? because my house is desolate, and you make haste every man to his own house.
10 Per questo io ho vietato alli cieli, che non diano la rugiada (sopra voi), e alla terra ho vietato che non dèsse lo germoglio suo.	10 Therefore the heavens over you were stayed from giving dew, and the earth was hindered from yielding her fruits:
11 E chiamai il secco sopra la terra e sopra li monti, e sopra lo grano e sopra lo vino, e sopra l'olio e sopra qualunque cosa produce (sopra) la terra, e sopra gli uomini e sopra gli giumenti e sopra ogni lavorio delle vostre mani.	11 And I called for a drought upon the land, and upon the mountains, and upon the corn, and upon the wine, and upon the oil, and upon all that the ground bringeth forth, and upon men, and upon beasts, and upon all the labour of the hands.
12 E Zorobabel figliuolo di Salatiel, e Iesù figliuolo di Iosedec, sacerdote grande, e tutto il popolo che v'era rimaso, udì la voce del suo Iddio e le parole di Aggeo profeta, sì come il loro Signore Iddio l' avea mandato a loro; e temette il popolo. dalla faccia del Signore.	12 Then Zorobabel the son of Salathiel, and Jesus the son of Josedec the high priest, and all the remnant of the people hearkened to the voice of the Lord their God, and to the words of Aggeus the prophet, as the Lord their God sent him to them: and the people feared before the Lord.
13 E parlò Aggeo, messaggio del Signore (del numero) de' messaggi del Signore, dicendo al popolo: io sono con voi, dice il Signore.	13 And Aggeus the messenger of the Lord, as one of the messengers of the Lord, spoke, saying to the people: I am with you, saith the Lord.
14 E suscitò il Signore lo spirito di Zorobabel figliuolo di Salatiel, duca di Giuda, e lo spirito di Iesù figliuolo di Iosedec, sacerdote grande, e lo spirito di tutti coloro che v'erano rimasi di tutto il popolo; e andavano, e facevano l' opera nella casa del Signore degli esèrciti, Iddio loro.	14 And the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zorobabel the son of Salathiel governor of Juda, and the spirit of Jesus the son of Josedec the high priest, and the spirit of all the rest of the people: and they went in, and did the work in the house of the Lord of hosts their God.
