LXXDOUAI-RHEIMS
συ την σοφιαν κηρυξεις ινα φρονησις σοι υπακουση1 Doth not wisdom cry aloud, and prudence put forth her voice ?
επι γαρ των υψηλων ακρων εστιν ανα μεσον δε των τριβων εστηκεν2 Standing in the top of the highest places by the way, in the midst of the paths.
παρα γαρ πυλαις δυναστων παρεδρευει εν δε εισοδοις υμνειται3 Beside the gates of the city, in the very doors she speaketh, saying:
υμας ω ανθρωποι παρακαλω και προιεμαι εμην φωνην υιοις ανθρωπων4 O ye men, to you I call, and my voice is to the sons of men.
νοησατε ακακοι πανουργιαν οι δε απαιδευτοι ενθεσθε καρδιαν5 O little ones, understand subtilty, and ye unwise, take notice.
εισακουσατε μου σεμνα γαρ ερω και ανοισω απο χειλεων ορθα6 Hear, for I will speak of great things: and my lips shall be opened to preach right things.
οτι αληθειαν μελετησει ο φαρυγξ μου εβδελυγμενα δε εναντιον εμου χειλη ψευδη7 My mouth shall meditate truth, and my lips shall hate wickedness.
μετα δικαιοσυνης παντα τα ρηματα του στοματος μου ουδεν εν αυτοις σκολιον ουδε στραγγαλωδες8 All my words are just, there is nothing wicked nor perverse in them.
παντα ενωπια τοις συνιουσιν και ορθα τοις ευρισκουσι γνωσιν9 They are right to them that understand, and just to them that find knowledge.
λαβετε παιδειαν και μη αργυριον και γνωσιν υπερ χρυσιον δεδοκιμασμενον ανθαιρεισθε δε αισθησιν χρυσιου καθαρου10 Receive my instruction, and not money: choose knowledge rather than gold.
κρεισσων γαρ σοφια λιθων πολυτελων παν δε τιμιον ουκ αξιον αυτης εστιν11 ,11For wisdom is better than all the most precious things: and whatsoever may be desired cannot be compared to
εγω η σοφια κατεσκηνωσα βουλην και γνωσιν και εννοιαν εγω επεκαλεσαμην12 I wisdom dwell in counsel, and am present in learned thoughts.
φοβος κυριου μισει αδικιαν υβριν τε και υπερηφανιαν και οδους πονηρων μεμισηκα δε εγω διεστραμμενας οδους κακων13 The fear of the Lord hateth evil: I hate arrogance, and pride, and every wicked way, and a mouth with a double tongue.
εμη βουλη και ασφαλεια εμη φρονησις εμη δε ισχυς14 Counsel and equity is mine, prudence is mine, strength is mine.
δι' εμου βασιλεις βασιλευουσιν και οι δυνασται γραφουσιν δικαιοσυνην15 By me kings reign, and lawgivers decree just things,
δι' εμου μεγιστανες μεγαλυνονται και τυραννοι δι' εμου κρατουσι γης16 By me princes rule, and the mighty decree justice.
εγω τους εμε φιλουντας αγαπω οι δε εμε ζητουντες ευρησουσιν17 I love them that love me: and they that in the morning early watch for me, shall find me.
πλουτος και δοξα εμοι υπαρχει και κτησις πολλων και δικαιοσυνη18 With me are riches and glory, glorious riches and justice.
βελτιον εμε καρπιζεσθαι υπερ χρυσιον και λιθον τιμιον τα δε εμα γενηματα κρεισσω αργυριου εκλεκτου19 For my fruit is better than gold and the precious stone, and my blossoms than choice silver.
εν οδοις δικαιοσυνης περιπατω και ανα μεσον τριβων δικαιωματος αναστρεφομαι20 I walk in the way of justice, in the midst of the paths of judgment,
ινα μερισω τοις εμε αγαπωσιν υπαρξιν και τους θησαυρους αυτων εμπλησω αγαθων [21α] εαν αναγγειλω υμιν τα καθ' ημεραν γινομενα μνημονευσω τα εξ αιωνος αριθμησαι21 That I may enrich them that love me, and may fill their treasures.
κυριος εκτισεν με αρχην οδων αυτου εις εργα αυτου22 The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his ways, before he made any thing from the beginning.
προ του αιωνος εθεμελιωσεν με εν αρχη23 I was set up from eternity, and of old before the earth was made.
προ του την γην ποιησαι και προ του τας αβυσσους ποιησαι προ του προελθειν τας πηγας των υδατων24 The depths were not as yet, and I was already conceived. neither had the fountains of waters as yet sprung out:
προ του ορη εδρασθηναι προ δε παντων βουνων γεννα με25 The mountains with their huge bulk had not as yet been established: before the hills I was brought forth:
κυριος εποιησεν χωρας και αοικητους και ακρα οικουμενα της υπ' ουρανον26 He had not yet made the earth, nor the rivers, nor the poles of the world.
ηνικα ητοιμαζεν τον ουρανον συμπαρημην αυτω και οτε αφωριζεν τον εαυτου θρονον επ' ανεμων27 When he prepared the heavens, I was present: when with a certain law and compass he enclosed the depths:
ηνικα ισχυρα εποιει τα ανω νεφη και ως ασφαλεις ετιθει πηγας της υπ' ουρανον28 When he established the sky above, and poised the fountains of waters:
και ισχυρα εποιει τα θεμελια της γης29 When he compassed the sea with its bounds, and set a law to the waters that they should not pass their limits: when be balanced the foundations of the earth;
ημην παρ' αυτω αρμοζουσα εγω ημην η προσεχαιρεν καθ' ημεραν δε ευφραινομην εν προσωπω αυτου εν παντι καιρω30 I was with him forming all things: and was delighted every day, playing before him at all times;
οτε ευφραινετο την οικουμενην συντελεσας και ενευφραινετο εν υιοις ανθρωπων31 Playing in the world: and my delights were to be with the children of men.
νυν ουν υιε ακουε μου32 Now therefore, ye children, hear me: Blessed are they that keep my ways.
-33 Hear instruction and be wise, and refuse it not.
μακαριος ανηρ ος εισακουσεται μου και ανθρωπος ος τας εμας οδους φυλαξει αγρυπνων επ' εμαις θυραις καθ' ημεραν τηρων σταθμους εμων εισοδων34 Blessed is the man that heareth me, and that watcheth daily at my gates, and waiteth at the posts of my doors.
αι γαρ εξοδοι μου εξοδοι ζωης και ετοιμαζεται θελησις παρα κυριου35 He that shall find me, shall find life, and shall have salvation from the Lord:
οι δε εις εμε αμαρτανοντες ασεβουσιν τας εαυτων ψυχας και οι μισουντες με αγαπωσιν θανατον36 But he that shall sin against me, shall hurt his own soul. All that hate me love death.
