1 A psalm for Asaph. The God of gods, the Lord hath spoken: and he hath called the earth. From the rising of the sun, to the going down thereof:	1 Ein Psalm von Asaph.Der Gott der Götter, der HERR, redet und ruft der Erde zuvom Aufgang der Sonne bis zu ihrem Niedergang;
2 out of Sion the loveliness of his beauty.	2 aus Zion, der Krone der Schönheit (48,3),strahlt Gott in lichtem Glanz hervor:
3 God shall come manifestly: our God shall come, and shall not keep silence. A fire shall burn before him: and a mighty tempest shall be round about him.	3 unser Gott kommt und kann nicht schweigen,verzehrendes Feuer geht vor ihm her,und rings um ihn her stürmt es gewaltig.
4 He shall call heaven from above, and the earth, to judge his people.	4 Er ruft dem Himmel droben zuund der Erde, um sein Volk zu richten:
5 Gather ye together his saints to him: who set his covenant before sacrifices.	5 »Versammelt mir meine Gesetzestreuen (= Frommen),die den Bund mit mir geschlossen beim Opfer!«
6 And the heavens shall declare his justice: for God is judge.	6 Da taten die Himmel seine Gerechtigkeit kund;denn Gott selbst ist’s, der da Gericht hält. SELA.
7 Hear, O my people, and I will speak: O Israel, and I will testify to thee: I am God, thy God.	7 »Höre, mein Volk, und laß mich reden,Israel, daß ich dich ernstlich warne:Gott, dein Gott bin ich!
8 I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices: and thy burnt offerings are always in my sight.	8 Nicht deiner Opfer wegen rüge ich dich,sind doch deine Brandopfer stets mir vor Augen.
9 I will not take calves out of thy house: nor he goats out of thy flocks.	9 Doch ich mag nicht Stiere nehmen aus deinem Hause (oder: Stall),nicht Böcke aus deinen Hürden;
10 For all the beasts of the woods are mine: the cattle on the hills, and the oxen.	10 denn mein ist alles Wild des Waldes,das Getier auf meinen Bergen zu Tausenden.
11 I know all the fowls of the air: and with me is the beauty of the field.	11 Ich kenne jeden Vogel auf den Bergen,und was auf dem Felde sich regt, steht mir zur Verfügung.
12 If I should be hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.	12 Hätte ich Hunger: ich brauchte es dir nicht zu sagen,denn mein ist der Erdkreis und all seine Fülle.
13 Shall I eat the flesh of bullocks? or shall I drink the blood of goats?	13 Esse ich etwa das Fleisch von Stieren,und soll ich das Blut von Böcken trinken?
14 Offer to God the sacrifice of praise: and pay thy vows to the most High.	14 Bringe Dank dem HERRN als Opfer darund bezahle so dem Höchsten deine Gelübde,
15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.	15 und rufe mich an am Tage der Not,so will ich dich retten, und du sollst mich preisen!«
16 But to the sinner God hath said: Why dost thou declare my justices, and take my covenant in thy mouth ?	16 Zum Gottlosen aber spricht der Allherr: »Was hast du meine Satzungen aufzuzählenund meinen Bund (= mein Gesetz) im Munde zu führen,
17 Seeing thou hast hated discipline: and hast cast my words behind thee.	17 da du selbst doch die Zucht mißachtestund meinen Worten den Rücken kehrst?
18 If thou didst see a thief thou didst run with him: and with adulterers thou hast been a partaker.	18 Siehst du einen Dieb, so befreundest du dich mit ihm,und mit Ehebrechern hast du Gemeinschaft;
19 Thy mouth hath abounded with evil, and thy tongue framed deceits.	19 deinem Munde läßt du freien Lauf zur Bosheit,und deine Zunge zettelt Betrug an;
20 Sitting thou didst speak against thy brother, and didst lay a scandal against thy mother's son:	20 du sitzest da und redest (Böses) gegen deinen Bruderund bringst den Sohn deiner Mutter in Verruf!
21 these things hast thou done, and I was silent. Thou thoughtest unjustly that I should be like to thee: but I will reprove thee, and set before thy face.	21 Das (alles) hast du getan, und ich habe geschwiegen;da hast du gedacht, ich sei so wie du.Das mache ich dir zum Vorwurf und gebe dir’s zu bedenken.
22 Understand these things, you that forget God; lest he snatch you away, and there be none to deliver you.	22 O beherzigt das wohl, ihr Gottvergeßnen:sonst raffe ich euch hinweg ohne Rettung!
23 The sacrifice of praise shall glorify me: and there is the way by which I will shew him the salvation of God.	23 Wer Dank als Opfer darbringt, erweist mir Ehre,und wer unsträflich wandelt, den lasse ich schauen Gottes Heil.«
