| 3 Dopo la cortina è il secondo tabernacolo, il quale si chiama SANCTA SANTORUM. | 3 Behind the second curtain stood a tent called the Holy of Holies, |
| 4 Nel quale è il turibolo dell' oro, e l'arca del testamento, intorno da ogni parte coperta d'oro; nella qual arca era il vasello dell' oro, pieno della manna (che Dio mandò al popolo d' Israel, quando era nel deserto), ed eravi anche la verga di Aaron la qual mise frondi (e frutto in una notte, essendo tagliata), ed eranvi (in quella medesima arca) le tavole del testamento (nelle quali Dio colle sue mani aveva scritto li dieci comandamenti). | 4 having the golden altar of incense and the ark of the covenant covered on all sides with gold, which contained a golden urn holding the manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; |

| 9 il quale era similitudine del presente tempo, nel qual donamenti e ostie [si] offeriscono, i quali secondo la coscienza non possono fare perfetto il servitore, quelli che offeriscono solamente li cibi e li bevimenti, | 9 (which is symbolic for the present age). According to this arrangement, gifts and sacrifices are offered which cannot perfect the conscience of the worshiper, |
| 10 [e] li molti battesimi e giustizie della carne, ordinati insino al tempo del castigamento. | 10 but deal only with food and drink and various ablutions, regulations for the body imposed until the time of reformation. |
| 11 Ma Cristo essendo pontefice de' beni che debbono venire, e tabernacolo molto più amplo e perfetto, e non fatto con mano, cioè di questa generazione, | 11 But when Christ appeared as a high priest of the good things that have come, then through the greater and more perfect tent (not made with hands, that is, not of this creation) |
| 12 nè per sangue de' becchi ovver delli vitelli, ma per il proprio suo sangue, entrò una volta in SANCTA (SANCTORUM), trovata la rendenzione eternale. | 12 he entered once for all into the Holy Place, taking not the blood of goats and calves but his own blood, thus securing an eternal redemption. |
| 13 Chè se il sangue de' becchi e de' tauri, e la cenere della vitella sparta, può santificare (e mondare) li peccatori secondo la legge vecchia; | 13 For if the sprinkling of defiled persons with the blood of goats and bulls and with the ashes of a heifer sanctifies for the purification of the flesh, |
| 14 quanto maggiormente (può santificare li peccatori) il sangue di Cristo, il quale per il Spirito Santo offerse sè medesimo a Dio senza macula, ei puote nettare la nostra coscienza delle malvagie opere, e servire a Dio vivente? | 14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify your conscience from dead works to serve the living God. |
| 15 E imperò egli è tramezzatore del nuovo testamento, sì che la morte intercedendo, a redenzione di quelle prevaricazioni le quali erano sotto il primaio testamento, quelli che son chiamati ricevano la repromissione dell' eternale eredità. | 15 Therefore he is the mediator of a new covenant, so that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, since a death has occurred which redeems them from the transgressions under the first covenant. |
| 16 Chè là ove è il testamento, mestieri è che interceda la morte del testatore. | 16 For where a will is involved, the death of the one who made it must be established. |
| 17 Il testamento è confermato nelli morti; non vale mentre ch' egli vive, cioè quello che fece il testamento. | 17 For a will takes effect only at death, since it is not in force as long as the one who made it is alive. |
| 18 Onde veramente nè il primaio fu ordinato senza sangue. | 18 Hence even the first covenant was not ratified without blood. |
| 19 E così, letto ogni comandamento della legge da Moisè a tutto il popolo, pigliando il sangue dei vitelli e de' becchi, con l' acqua e con lana sanguinosa e con isopo, (fu sacrato il primo testamento e) ancora quel medesimo libro (della legge) aspergette (di sangue) e tutto il popolo, | 19 For when every commandment of the law had been declared by Moses to all the people, he took the blood of calves and goats, with water and scarlet wool and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book itself and all the people, |
| 20 dicendo così: questo è il sangue del testamento, il quale Dio ha mandato a voi. | 20 saying, "This is the blood of the covenant which God commanded you." |
| 21 Simigliantemente sparse con il sangue il tabernacolo e tutte le vasella del servizio. | 21 And in the same way he sprinkled with the blood both the tent and all the vessels used in worship. |
| 22 E appresso tutte le cose, secondo la legge, si mondano col sangue: non si fa (perdonamento nè) remissione (secondo la legge di Moisè) senza effusione di sangue. | 22 Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins. |
| 23 Adunque mestieri è che le figure delle celestiali cose siano mondate con queste cose; ma quelle celestiali con migliori cose che queste son mondate. | 23 Thus it was necessary for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these rites, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. |
| 24 Veramente Iesù non entrò in SANCTA SANCTORUM fatte con mano, le quali cose son dell' esempio delle veraci cose; ma entrò in cielo, per apparire dinanzi al volto di Dio per noi. | 24 For Christ has entered, not into a sanctuary made with hands, a copy of the true one, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf. |
| 25 E non dico ch' egli molte volte offera sè medesimo, sì come il pontefice (cioè il vescovo dei giudei) entra in SANCTA (SANCTORUM) per ciaschedun anno col sangue altrui. | 25 Nor was it to offer himself repeatedly, as the high priest enters the Holy Place yearly with blood not his own; |
| 26 Se altramente avesse fatto, bisogno era che egli spesse volte sostenesse passione insino dal cominciamento del mondo; ma ora una fiata nella consumazione delli secoli, a distruggimento de' peccati, apparve per la sua ostia. | 26 for then he would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the age to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. |
| 27 E sì come una fiata ordinò agli uomini di morire; ma dopo questo è ordinato il giudicio; | 27 And just as it is appointed for men to die once, and after that comes judgment, |
| 28 e così Cristo una volta fu offerto a distruggere le peccata di molti; e la seconda volta apparirà senza peccati a questi che aspettano (con fede) la loro salute. | 28 so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him. |
