| 1 Adunque avendo noi questa amministrazione, secondo che noi avemo guadagnata misericordia, non veniamo meno. | 1 Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God, we do not lose heart. |
| 2 Ma rimoviamo le cose della vergogna, e non andiamo con inganno adulterande la parola di Dio, ma andiamo con manifestamento di verità, commendando noi medesimi a ogni coscienza degli uomini inanzi da Dio. | 2 We have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways; we refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God's word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. |
| 3 Ma (fratelli) il nostro evangelio sì è coperto e chiuso a coloro che periscono; | 3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing. |
| 4 nelli quali Dio di questo secolo ha ciecato le menti delli infedeli, acciò che non risplenda in loro luminazione dello evangelio della gloria di Cristo, il quale è imagine di Dio. | 4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the likeness of God. |
| 5 Chè noi non predichiamo noi medesimi, ma predichiamo Iesù Cristo nostro Signore; e noi siamo vostri servi per Iesù Cristo. | 5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. |
| 6 Imperò che Dio, il quale dice di fare risplendere la luce dalle tenebre, quegli risplendè nelli cuori nostri, a illuminazione di scienza della chiarità di Dio, nella faccia di Cristo salvatore. | 6 For it is the God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. |
| 7 Ma avemo questo tesauro in vaselli di terra; chè la grandezza sia dalla virtù di Dio, e non da noi. | 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not to us. |
| 8 In tutte le cose sostenemo tribulazione, ma non augustiamo; poveri diventiamo, e non siamo derelitti | 8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; |
| 9 La persecuzione sofferiamo, e non siamo abbandonati; siamo umiliati (e non siamo confusi; agitati), e non periamo. | 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; |
| 10 E sempre portiamo la mortificazione di Iesù Cristo (d'ogni lato) nel nostro corpo, perchè la vita di Iesù Cristo sia manifestata nelli nostri corpi. | 10 always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. |
| 11 Chè (per certo) sempre noi che vivemo siamo dati alla morte per Iesù (Cristo), acciò che la vita di Iesù (Cristo) sia manifestata nella nostra carne. [mortale]. | 11 For while we live we are always being given up to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh. |
| 12 Adunque la morte si adopera in noi, e la vita (avete) in voi, | 12 So death is at work in us, but life in you. |
| 13 avendo quello medesimo spirito di fede, secondo ch' è scritto: io credetti, per la quale cosa favellai; e noi credemo, e perciò noi favelliamo, | 13 Since we have the same spirit of faith as he had who wrote, "I believed, and so I spoke," we too believe, and so we speak, |
| 14 sapiendo che quelli che suscitò il Signore Iesù Cristo, e noi susciterà, e ordinerà noi con voi. | 14 knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence. |
| 15 Chè tutte le cose sostenemo per voi, perchè la grazia abondevole per molte azioni di grazie abondi in la gloria di Dio. | 15 For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God. |
| 16 Per la qual cosa noi non veniamo meno; ma avvegna che il corpo di fuora si corrompa (e) abbia malagevolezza), non di meno l'anima dentro si rinnova (e rinfresca) di giorno in giorno. | 16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed every day. |
| 17 Chè questa cosa, che è tribulazione in questo presente tempo, sì è lieve e in uno momento; e pur tuttavia sì adopera sopra misura in noi eternale peso di gloria. | 17 For this slight momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, |
| 18 E imperò dico a voi, che non desideriamo le cose che si vedono, [ma le cose che non si vedono]; chè quelle cose che si vedono sono temporali, e quelle che non si vedono son eternali. | 18 because we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. |
