| 1 Or dicesse alcuno di voi, abiendo a fare l' uno coll' altro, di stare di sentenza de' malvagi, e non maggiormente volere esser giudicato dalle sante persone? | 1 When one of you has a grievance against a brother, does he dare go to law before the unrighteous instead of the saints? |
| 2 E non sapete che li santi giudicheranno di questo mondo? E se il mondo dee esser giudicato da voi, non è degna cosa che voi giudicate queste minori cose? | 2 Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases? |
| 3 Non sapete voi, che noi giudicheremo li angioli? quanto maggiormente le cose del secolo? | 3 Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, matters pertaining to this life! |
| 4 Adunque se voi averete a fare insieme giudicii secolari, le più contendibili [persone] che sieno tra voi (e le più cattive) ponete per vostri giudici. | 4 If then you have such cases, why do you lay them before those who are least esteemed by the church? |
| 5 A vostra vergona dico questo: se non è intra voi alcuno che possa giudicare intra l' uno fratello e l'altro? | 5 I say this to your shame. Can it be that there is no man among you wise enough to decide between members of the brotherhood, |
| 6 Ma l'uno fratello e l'altro sì contende in giudicio (di piato); e questo fanno dinanzi a coloro che non son fedeli? (nè cristiani). | 6 but brother goes to law against brother, and that before unbelievers? |
| 7 E così per certo il peccato è già al postutio in voi, quando voi piatite (insieme) tra voi. Perchè maggiormente non sostenete in pazienza la ingiuria e l'inganno? | 7 To have lawsuits at all with one another is defeat for you. Why not rather suffer wrong? Why not rather be defrauded? |
| 8 Ma voi per contrario fate le ingiurie e l' inganni; eziandio al vostro fratello (cristiano). | 8 But you yourselves wrong and defraud, and that even your own brethren. |
| 9 E non sapete voi, che li malvagi non possederanno il regno di Dio? Non (siate ingannati e non) errate; chè nè li fornicatori, nè i servitori degl' idoli, nè gli adulteri, | 9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither the immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, |
| 10 nè li molli, nè li sodomiti, nè li furi, nè li avari, nè l'imbriachi, nè li maledicenti, nè i rapitori non possederanno il regno di Dio. | 10 nor thieves, nor the greedy, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God. |
| 11 E però voi fusti già di quelli cotali; e ora siete lavati e santificati nel nome del Signore nostro Iesù Cristo, e nel Spirito del nostro Dio. | 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God. |
| 12 Tutte le cose son a me lecite a fare, ma tutte non si convengono di fare. Tutte le cose son a me lecite; ma io non sarò recato sotto signoria d' alcuno. | 12 "All things are lawful for me," but not all things are helpful. "All things are lawful for me," but I will not be enslaved by anything. |
| 13 Il mangiare al ventre, e il ventre all' esca; ma Dio distruggerà l'uno e l'altra; ma il corpo, non alla fornicazione, ma al Signore, e il Signore al corpo. | 13 "Food is meant for the stomach and the stomach for food"--and God will destroy both one and the other. The body is not meant for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body. |
| 14 E Dio, che resuscitò il Signore, resusciterà noi della sua virtù. | 14 And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. |
| 15 E non sapete che li vostri corpi son membra di Cristo? Adunque torrai il membro di Cristo, farai membro di meretrice? Non piaccia a Dio. | 15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I therefore take the members of Christ and make them members of a prostitute? Never! |
| 16 E non sapete che colui che si accosta alla meretrice, sì diventa uno corpo con lei? Chè dice la Scrittura, che saranno due in una carne. | 16 Do you not know that he who joins himself to a prostitute becomes one body with her? For, as it is written, "The two shall become one." |
| 17 E quelli che s'accosta a Dio, sì è uno spirito. | 17 But he who is united to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. |
| 18 Fuggite la fornicazione; chè ogni peccato che farà l'uomo, sì è fuori del corpo; ma quelli che fa fornicazione, sì pecca nel suo corpo. | 18 Shun immorality. Every other sin which a man commits is outside the body; but the immoral man sins against his own body. |
| 19 E non sapete che le membra vostre son templo del Spirito Santo, il quale è in voi, che l'avete da Dio, e voi non siete vostri? | 19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, which you have from God? You are not your own; |
| 20 Imperò che sete comprati di grande prezzo. Adunque glorificate e portate Dio nel vostro corpo. | 20 you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. |
