| 1 Per la qual cosa, o tu uomo che giudichi altrui, come ti potrai tu escusare? In quello che tu giudichi altrui, condanni te medesimo; perchè tu fai quello medesimo che tu giudichi in alcuno. | 1 Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. |
| 2 Sappiamo per verità, che il giudicio di Dio è sopra coloro che cotali cose fanno. | 2 But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things. |
| 3 Ma pensi tu, uomo che giudichi altrui, e fai quel medesimo, di fuggire il giudicio di Dio? | 3 And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God? |
| 4 Ma hai tu in dispregio le ricchezze dell' abbondanza e della pazienza e della grande sofferenza di Dio? Non sai tu, che la benignità di Dio ti conduce a penitenza? | 4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? |
| 5 Ma tu, secondo la tua durezza, e secondo il tuo cuore che non si pente, raguni l' ira di Dio nel dì dell' ira, e nel dì che sarà a manifestare il giusto giudicio di Dio. | 5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; |
| 6 Il quale renderà a ciascuno secondo l'opere sue. | 6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds: |
| 7 E certo a coloro, che vanno procacciando vita eterna secondo la pazienza della buona opera, renderà la gloria e onore e vita stabile. | 7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: |
| 8 Ma coloro che stanno in contenzione, e contraddicono alla verità e credono alla iniquità, sopra coloro verrà l'ira e la indignazione. | 8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, |
| 9 E tribulazione e angustia in ogni anima dell' uomo operante male; in prima al iudeo e (poi) al greco. | 9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; |
| 10 Ma a ogni bene operante sia onore e pace; al iudeo prima, e al greco. | 10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: |
| 11 Appo Dio non è ricevimento di persone. | 11 For there is no respect of persons with God. |
| 12 Chè chiunque peccarono senza legge, periranno senza legge, e chiunque peccarono nella legge, saranno giudicati per la legge. | 12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; |
| 13 E appo Dio non sono giusti li uditori della legge, ma li operatori di quella saranno giustificati. | 13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified. |
| 14 Perchè quando le genti, che non hanno legge, naturalmente quelle cose che son della legge adòperano, non avendo quella cotale legge, essi medesimi sono a sè legge; | 14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: |
| 15 quando egli dimostrano l' opere della legge scritte nel loro cuore, rendendo a loro testimonio la loro conscienza delle cogitazioni, che si accusano intra loro, ovvero che si difendono, | 15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;) |
| 16 nel dì che Dio giudicarà le cose nascoste delli uomini, secondo la dottrina mia, per Gesù Cristo. | 16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel. |
| 17 Ma tu cristiano, che fosti in prima iudeo, non ti magnificare, perchè tu fossi giudeo, e avessi la legge; | 17 Behold, thou art called a Jew, and restest in the law, and makest thy boast of God, |
| 18 e perchè tu hai cognosciuto la volontà di Dio, e ammaestrato per la legge laudi le cose più utili; | 18 And knowest his will, and approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the law; |
| 19 e tienti esser guidatore de' ciechi, e lume di coloro che non sono savii; | 19 And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness, |
| 20 e ammaestratore di fanciulli, e di avere forma di scienza e della verità per la legge. | 20 An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law. |
| 21 Adunque perchè ammaestri altrui, e te medesimo non ammaestri? Perchè predichi che altri non faccia furto, e tu lo fai? | 21 Thou therefore which teachest another, teachest thou not thyself? thou that preachest a man should not steal, dost thou steal? |
| 22 Chè dici: non fornicare, e fai fornicazione? perchè blasfemi l' idoli, e tu fai sacrilegio? | 22 Thou that sayest a man should not commit adultery, dost thou commit adultery? thou that abhorrest idols, dost thou commit sacrilege? |
| 23 Perchè ti magnifichi della legge, e per rompimento della legge tu fai disonore a Dio? | 23 Thou that makest thy boast of the law, through breaking the law dishonourest thou God? |
| 24 Chè il nome di Dio è biastemato per voi fra le genti, come è scritto. | 24 For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written. |
| 25 Certo la circoncisione giova, se osservi la legge; ma se tu se' rompitore della legge, la circoncisione è nulla. | 25 For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision. |
| 26 Adunque se quelli che non è circonciso, egli compirà la giustizia della legge, or non sera'li reputato in circoncisione? (certo si). | 26 Therefore if the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, shall not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision? |
| 27 E questo cotale, non essendo egli naturalmente sotto la legge, e osservando la legge, or non giudicherà chi naturalmente sia tenuto alla legge, e non la tiene? (certo sì). | 27 And shall not uncircumcision which is by nature, if it fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter and circumcision dost transgress the law? |
| 28 Adunque (sappiate questo, che) non è iudeo quello che per carne è chiamato giudeo; e non è circoncisione quella che si fa di fuori nella carne. | 28 For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: |
| 29 Ma quelli ch' è nascosto iudeo è; è la circoncisione, fatta spiritualmente, e non secondo la lettera; la cui laude non è dalli uomini, ma è da esso Dio. | 29 But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God. |
