| 1 E dopo sei giorni tolse Iesù, Pietro, Iacobo e Ioanne, e condusse quelli soli nel monte eccelso, e in loro presenza si trasnfigurò. | 1 And he said to them, "Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see that the kingdom of God has come with power." |
| 2 E fatte sono le sue vestimenta molto splendide, e bianchissime a modo di neve, simili che il follatore non può fare bianche sopra la terra | 2 And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain apart by themselves; and he was transfigured before them, |
| 3 E a loro apparse Elia con Moisè; ed erano parlanti con Iesù. | 3 and his garments became glistening, intensely white, as no fuller on earth could bleach them. |
| 4 E rispondendo Pietro, disse a Iesù: Maestro, egli è buono a noi esser qui; facciamo tre tabernacoli; a te uno, a Moisè uno e a Elia uno. | 4 And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses; and they were talking to Jesus. |
| 5 Certo ei non sapeva quel che si dicesse; imperò ch' erano spaventati di timore. | 5 And Peter said to Jesus, "Master, it is well that we are here; let us make three booths, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah." |
| 6 E fatta fu la nube obumbrante loro, e venne la voce della nube, dicendo: questo è il mio figliuolo carissimo; uditelo. | 6 For he did not know what to say, for they were exceedingly afraid. |
| 7 E incontinente, guardandosi dintorno, nulla videro, salvo solo Iesù ch' era con esso loro. | 7 And a cloud overshadowed them, and a voice came out of the cloud, "This is my beloved Son; listen to him." |
| 8 E discendendo quelli del monte, comandolli che a nullo raccontassero quel che avevano veduto, salvo quando il Figliuolo dell' uomo sarebbe resuscitato da morte. | 8 And suddenly looking around they no longer saw any one with them but Jesus only. |
| 9 E questa parola ritennono appo loro medesimi, e cercavano tra loro quello che questo fosse, cioè di resuscitare da morte. | 9 And as they were coming down the mountain, he charged them to tell no one what they had seen, until the Son of man should have risen from the dead. |
| 10 E allora domandavano, dicendo: il perchè adunque dicono li Farisei e li Scribi, che bisogna che prima venga Elia? | 10 So they kept the matter to themselves, questioning what the rising from the dead meant. |
| 11 Ed egli rispose: quando verrà Elia, egli in prima restituirà ogni cosa; e come egli è scritto nel Figliuolo dell' uomo, che bisogna che sustenga molte cose, e sarà dispregiato. | 11 And they asked him, "Why do the scribes say that first Elijah must come?" |
| 12 Ma vi dico, che etiam Elia venne, e loro li fecero tutto quello che volsero, come è scritto di lui. | 12 And he said to them, "Elijah does come first to restore all things; and how is it written of the Son of man, that he should suffer many things and be treated with contempt? |
| 13 E venendo alli discepoli suoi, vidde una grande turba esser dintorno a loro, e vidde li Scribi parlanti con quelli. | 13 But I tell you that Elijah has come, and they did to him whatever they pleased, as it is written of him." |
| 14 E incontinente, vedendo il popolo Iesù, stupefatto temettero; e correndoli incontra, salutavanlo. | 14 And when they came to the disciples, they saw a great crowd about them, and scribes arguing with them. |
| 15 Ed egli addomandolli: che ricercate intra voi? | 15 And immediately all the crowd, when they saw him, were greatly amazed, and ran up to him and greeted him. |
| 16 E rispondendo uno uomo della turba, disse: Maestro, io vi ho menato uno mio figliuolo, il quale ha adosso il spirito immondo. | 16 And he asked them, "What are you discussing with them?" |
| 17 E dove piglia, percuote fortemente, e fa schiuma per la bocca, e stride, e batte li denti, e tutto si dissecca. Disse allora Iesù alli discepoli suoi: andate e cacciatelo via. E li discepoli andorono, non lo poterono cacciare. | 17 And one of the crowd answered him, "Teacher, I brought my son to you, for he has a dumb spirit; |
| 18 Disse a loro Iesù: o generazione incredula, quanto tempo starò io con voi? e quanto vi sostenerò io? (E disse a loro:) menatelo a me. | 18 and wherever it seizes him, it dashes him down; and he foams and grinds his teeth and becomes rigid; and I asked your disciples to cast it out, and they were not able." |
| 19 Ed egli menoronlo; e vedendolo (Iesù), incontinente lo spirito il cominciò a tormentare; e il fanciullo cadette, e volgevasi per terra, e faceva schiuma per la bocca. | 19 And he answered them, "O faithless generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him to me." |
| 20 E Iesù domandò al padre, quanto tempo era che questo gli era avvenuto. E quel disse: insino alla sua adolescenza. | 20 And they brought the boy to him; and when the spirit saw him, immediately it convulsed the boy, and he fell on the ground and rolled about, foaming at the mouth. |
| 21 E molte volte lo spirito l' ha posto nel fuoco, e anche l'ha posto nell' acqua, per ucciderlo; onde io ti prego, se tu puoi, che tu ci aiuti, e abbi misericordia di noi. | 21 And Jesus asked his father, "How long has he had this?" And he said, "From childhood. |
| 22 Disse a quello Iesù: (vedi) se tu puoi credere, (imperò che) ogni cosa è possibile a chi crede. | 22 And it has often cast him into the fire and into the water, to destroy him; but if you can do anything, have pity on us and help us." |
| 23 Ed egli incontinente incominciò a gridare e a piangere, e dicea: Signore, io credo; piacciati aiutare la mia incredulitâ. | 23 And Jesus said to him, "If you can! All things are possible to him who believes." |
| 24 E vedendo Iesù correre la turba, minacciò al spirito immondo, e dissegli: spirito sordo e immondo, io ti comando che tu ti parti da costui, e più non gli tornare adosso. | 24 Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, "I believe; help my unbelief!" |
| 25 E allora lo spirito, gridando e rompendo e fiaccando colui in cui era, si partì; e il fanciullo rimase quasi come morto, intanto che molti credettero che fosse morto. | 25 And when Jesus saw that a crowd came running together, he rebuked the unclean spirit, saying to it, "You dumb and deaf spirit, I command you, come out of him, and never enter him again." |
| 26 Ma Iesù preselo per la mano, e levollo suso. | 26 And after crying out and convulsing him terribly, it came out, and the boy was like a corpse; so that most of them said, "He is dead." |
| 27 E (fatto questo) entrò Iesù in casa; e li discepoli suoi l' addimandorono secretamente, che era la cagione, ch' egli non l'aveano potuto cacciare. | 27 But Jesus took him by the hand and lifted him up, and he arose. |
| 28 E Iesù disse a loro: questa generazione di demonii in niuno modo si possono scacciare, se non per digiuno e per orazione. | 28 And when he had entered the house, his disciples asked him privately, "Why could we not cast it out?" |
| 29 E di quindi partiti andavano per Galilea; e non voleva che alcuno sapesse. | 29 And he said to them, "This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer and fasting." |
| 30 Ma ammaestrava li suoi discepoli, e diceva a quelli, come il Figliuolo dell' uomo sarà tradito nelle mani degli uomini, e uccideranno quello, e ucciso resusciterà il terzo giorno. | 30 They went on from there and passed through Galilee. And he would not have any one know it; |
| 31 Ma loro non sapevano quello ch' egli dicesse, e temevano di dimandarlo. | 31 for he was teaching his disciples, saying to them, "The Son of man will be delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him; and when he is killed, after three days he will rise." |
| 32 E dopo vennero in Cafarnao; li quali essendo a casa, addimandò a loro: che cosa trattavate nella. via? | 32 But they did not understand the saying, and they were afraid to ask him. |
| 33 Ma quelli tacevano; onde aveano disputato nella via, chi di loro saria maggiore. | 33 And they came to Caperna-um; and when he was in the house he asked them, "What were you discussing on the way?" |
| 34 Ed egli sedendo chiamò li dodici, e disse: se alcuno vuole essere il primo, sarà ultimo di tutti e ministro. | 34 But they were silent; for on the way they had discussed with one another who was the greatest. |
| 35 E tollendo uuo fanciullo, pose quello in mezzo di loro; e avendolo abbracciato, disse a quelli: | 35 And he sat down and called the twelve; and he said to them, "If any one would be first, he must be last of all and servant of all." |
| 36 Ciascuno che accetterà nel mio nome uno di questi tali fanciulli. riceverà me; e qualunque mi riceverà, non riceverà me, ma quello che me ha mandato. | 36 And he took a child, and put him in the midst of them; and taking him in his arms, he said to them, |
| 37 Rispuosegli Ioanne, dicendo: maestro, abbiamo veduto uno scacciante le demonia nel tuo nome, ed egli non seguitava noi, e abbiamolo divietato. | 37 "Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me." |
| 38 Alli quali disse Iesù: non vogliate divietarlo; imperò che non è alcuno che facci virtù nel mio nome, e che possa presto parlare male di me. | 38 John said to him, "Teacher, we saw a man casting out demons in your name, and we forbade him, because he was not following us." |
| 39 Ma colui che non è contra di voi, egli è per voi. | 39 But Jesus said, "Do not forbid him; for no one who does a mighty work in my name will be able soon after to speak evil of me. |
| 40 Ciascuno adunque che vi darà uno calice di acqua a bevere nel mio nome, in verità vi dico, egli non perderà la sua mercede. | 40 For he that is not against us is for us. |
| 41 E qualunque scandalizzarà uno di questi piccolini, i quali in me credono, egli è miglior cosa a lui, che al collo suo sia legata la mola asinaria, e sia gittato nel mare. | 41 For truly, I say to you, whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because you bear the name of Christ, will by no means lose his reward. |
| 42 E se la tua mano ti scandalizza, taglia quella; a te meglio è entrare nella vita, debile, che avendo due mani entrare nel fuoco eternale e inestinguibile; | 42 "Whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him if a great millstone were hung round his neck and he were thrown into the sea. |
| 43 dove loro verme non muore, e loro fuoco non si estingue. | 43 And if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go to hell, to the unquenchable fire. |
| 44 E se il tuo piede ti scandalizza, taglialo; a te è buono entrare in vita eterna zoppo, che avendo due piedi esser posto nel fuoco eterno inestinguibile; | 44 . |
| 45 dove loro verme non muore, e loro fuoco non si smorza. | 45 And if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off; it is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into hell. |
| 46 E se il tuo occhio ti scandalizza, gittalo da te; meglio è a te entrare nel regno di Dio, cieco, che avendo due occhi esser posto nel fuoco eternale; | 46 . |
| 47 dove loro verme non muore, e loro fucco non si estingue. | 47 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out; it is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell, |
| 48 E ogni uomo con fuoco sarà insalato, e ogni sacrificio insalarassi con sale. | 48 where their worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched. |
| 49 Buona cosa è il sale; e se il sale sarà senza vigore, in che cosa conciarete quello? In voi abbiate il sale, e intra voi abbiate la pace. | 49 For every one will be salted with fire. |
| 50 Salt is good; but if the salt has lost its saltness, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace with one another." |
