| 1 Udite me, isole, e attendete voi, populi, dalla lunga: lo Signore mi chiamò; del ventre della mia madre ricordossi del mio nome. | 1 Listen to me, O coastlands, and hearken, you peoples from afar. The LORD called me from the womb, from the body of my mother he named my name. |
| 2 E fece la mia bocca come uno coltello acuto, e difese me sotto l'ombra della sua mano, e puosemi come una saetta eletta; e puosemi nel suo carcasso. | 2 He made my mouth like a sharp sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me a polished arrow, in his quiver he hid me away. |
| 3 E disse a me: o Israel, tu se' lo mio servo, però che in te mi glorierò. | 3 And he said to me, "You are my servant, Israel, in whom I will be glorified." |
| 4 E io dissi: io m' affaticai invano, sanza cagione, e consumai la mia fortezza vanamente; adunque lo mio giudicio sì è col Signore, (e la mia fortezza) e la mia opera col mio Iddio. | 4 But I said, "I have labored in vain, I have spent my strength for nothing and vanity; yet surely my right is with the LORD, and my recompense with my God." |
| 5 E ora questo dice lo Signore, lo quale formò me nel ventre servo a sè, acciò ch' io rimeni a lui Iacob, e Israel non si radunerà; e sono glorificato nelli occhi del Signore, e lo mio Iddio fue mia fortezza. | 5 And now the LORD says, who formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob back to him, and that Israel might be gathered to him, for I am honored in the eyes of the LORD, and my God has become my strength-- |
| 6 E disse: poco è, che tu sii servo a me, a risuscitare le schiatte di Iacob, e a convertire le feccie d' Israel. Ed [ecco], io diedi te per luce delle genti, acciò che tu sii mia salute insino alle estremità della terra. | 6 he says: "It is too light a thing that you should be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob and to restore the preserved of Israel; I will give you as a light to the nations, that my salvation may reach to the end of the earth." |
| 7 Questo dice lo Signore nostro ricomperatore, lo santo d'Israel, all' anima dispregevole, alla gente abominevole e al servo de' signori: li re vederanno, e li principi si leveranno suso, e adoreranno lo Signore, però che fedele è lo santo d' Israel, il quale hae eletto te. | 7 Thus says the LORD, the Redeemer of Israel and his Holy One, to one deeply despised, abhorred by the nations, the servant of rulers: "Kings shall see and arise; princes, and they shall prostrate themselves; because of the LORD, who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel, who has chosen you." |
| 8 Questo dice lo Signore: io ho esaudito te nel tempo piacevole, e aiutai te nel dì della salute, e guardai te, e diedi te nel patto del popolo, acciò che tu svegliassi la terra e possedessi le ereditadi dissipate; | 8 Thus says the LORD: "In a time of favor I have answered you, in a day of salvation I have helped you; I have kept you and given you as a covenant to the people, to establish the land, to apportion the desolate heritages; |
| 9 acciò che dicessi a coloro i quali sono legati: uscite fuori, e a quelli che sono nelle tenebre: fatevi vedere. E pascerannosi sopra le vie, e in tutti li piani sono le loro pasture. | 9 saying to the prisoners, 'Come forth,' to those who are in darkness, 'Appear.' They shall feed along the ways, on all bare heights shall be their pasture; |
| 10 Non averanno nè fame nè sete, e non li percoterae il caldo nè il sole; però che quello che ha misericordia di loro, sì li reggerà, e abbevereralli nelle fonti delle acque. | 10 they shall not hunger or thirst, neither scorching wind nor sun shall smite them, for he who has pity on them will lead them, and by springs of water will guide them. |
| 11 E porrò tutti li monti miei nella via, e le vie mie saranno esaltate. | 11 And I will make all my mountains a way, and my highways shall be raised up. |
| 12 Ecco, questi verranno dalla lunga, e quelli dalla parte d' aquilone e del mare, e questi dalla terra d'austro. | 12 Lo, these shall come from afar, and lo, these from the north and from the west, and these from the land of Syene." |
| 13 O cieli, date laude, e tu, terra, ti rallegra, e voi, monti, gridate la laude; però che Iddio hae consolato il popolo suo, e averà misericordia delli suoi poveri. | 13 Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth; break forth, O mountains, into singing! For the LORD has comforted his people, and will have compassion on his afflicted. |
| 14 E disse (la terra che si chiama) Sion: lo Signore ha (lasciato e) abbandonato me, e hae dimenticato me. | 14 But Zion said, "The LORD has forsaken me, my Lord has forgotten me." |
| 15 Or puote l'uomo dimenticare lo suo figliuolo, ch' egli non abbia misericordia del figliuolo del suo ventre? E se l'averà dimenticato, io pure non dimenticherò te. | 15 "Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you. |
| 16 Ecco ch' io t' hoe assegnata nelle mie mani; le tue mura sempre sono innanzi a' miei occhi. | 16 Behold, I have graven you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me. |
| 17 Li tuoi ordinatori vennero a distruggere te, e così guastandoti se ne uscirono fuori. | 17 Your builders outstrip your destroyers, and those who laid you waste go forth from you. |
| 18 Alza li tuoi occhi nel circuito, e vedi; tutti questi (che tu vedi) sono radunati (qui nel tuo nome) e sono venuti a te. Io vivo, dice lo Signore, perchè tu sarai vestita di costoro, come di belli ornamenti, e circundera'li a te quasi una sposa. | 18 Lift up your eyes round about and see; they all gather, they come to you. As I live, says the LORD, you shall put them all on as an ornament, you shall bind them on as a bride does. |
| 19 Però che li tuoi deserti e la terra della tua ruina saranno ristretti per la moltitudine delli abitatori, e saranno iscacciati della lunga coloro i quali inghiottivano te. | 19 "Surely your waste and your desolate places and your devastated land-- surely now you will be too narrow for your inhabitants, and those who swallowed you up will be far away. |
| 20 Ancora diranno nelle tue orecchie li figliuoli della tua sterilitade: io hoe lo luogo mio molto stretto, e però fammi uno poco di spazio acciò ch' io possa abitare. | 20 The children born in the time of your bereavement will yet say in your ears: 'The place is too narrow for me; make room for me to dwell in.' |
| 21 E dirai nel cuore tuo: chi generò a me costoro? Io sono isterile e non partorisco, e sono peregrina e posta in servitù. E costoro chi li ha nutriti? io abbandonata e sola era; e dove erano questi? | 21 Then you will say in your heart: 'Who has borne me these? I was bereaved and barren, exiled and put away, but who has brought up these? Behold, I was left alone; whence then have these come?" |
| 22 Questo dice lo Signore Iddio: ecco io leverò alta la mia mano alle genti, e la mia insegna innalzerò alli populi. E recheranno li tuoi figliuoli, e le tue figliuole porteranno sopra li loro omeri. | 22 Thus says the Lord GOD: "Behold, I will lift up my hand to the nations, and raise my signal to the peoples; and they shall bring your sons in their bosom, and your daughters shall be carried on their shoulders. |
| 23 E li re saranno li tuoi nutricatori, e le regine tue nutricatrici; e adoreranno te stando col volto chinato in terra, e leccheranno la polvere dei tuoi piedi. E saprai ch' io sono lo Signore, sopra lo quale non saranno confusi quelli che averanno speranza in lui. | 23 Kings shall be your foster fathers, and their queens your nursing mothers. With their faces to the ground they shall bow down to you, and lick the dust of your feet. Then you will know that I am the LORD; those who wait for me shall not be put to shame." |
| 24 Or sarà tolta la preda di mano al forte? ovvero la cosa che sarà stata presa dell' uomo robusto, potrà essere salva? | 24 Can the prey be taken from the mighty, or the captives of a tyrant be rescued? |
| 25 Però che questo dice lo Signore in verità che la prigionia sarà tolta dal forte; e quello che sarà stato tolto dal robusto, sarà salvo. E io giudicherò coloro li quali hanno giudicato te, e io farò salvi li tuoi figliuoli. | 25 Surely, thus says the LORD: "Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken, and the prey of the tyrant be rescued, for I will contend with those who contend with you, and I will save your children. |
| 26 E darò cibi alli tuoi nemici le loro carni; e farolli inebriare dello loro sangue, come fosse mosto; e saprà ogni generazione, ch' io sono lo Signore che salvo te, e sono lo forte ricomperatore tuo, lo Iddio di Iacob. | 26 I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh, and they shall be drunk with their own blood as with wine. Then all flesh shall know that I am the LORD your Savior, and your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob." |
