| 1 Questo è lo detto lo quale vidde Isaia figliuolo di Amos (profeta) sopra Giuda e Ierusalem. | 1 The word which Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. |
| 2 Ello sarà, ne' novissimi dì, uno monte apparecchiato della casa di Dio nel capo de' monti, e sarà inalzato sopra li colli, e tutte le genti correranno a lui. | 2 It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be raised above the hills; and all the nations shall flow to it, |
| 3 E anderannovi molti popoli, e diranno: venite, saliamo al monte di Dio, e alla casa di Dio Iacob, e ammaestraranne nelle vie sue, e anderemo per li suoi sentieri; però che la legge uscirà di Sion, e la parola di Dio uscirà di Ierusalem. | 3 and many peoples shall come, and say: "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths." For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. |
| 4 E giudicherà la gente, e riprenderà molti popoli; e delli loro coltelli faranno gomieri, e delle lance faranno falci; e niuna gente leverà coltello contro ad altra gente, e non si adopereranno più a battaglia. | 4 He shall judge between the nations, and shall decide for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. |
| 5 O casa di Iacob, venite e andiamo nel lume del Signore. | 5 O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the LORD. |
| 6 Però che tu (Signore) gettasti lo popolo tuo, la casa di Iacob; però che sono ripieni come da quinci addietro, ed ebbono li indovinatori (delli uccelli) come li Filistei, e accostoronsi a' fanciulli altrui. | 6 For thou hast rejected thy people, the house of Jacob, because they are full of diviners from the east and of soothsayers like the Philistines, and they strike hands with foreigners. |
| 7 E la terra fue ripiena d'argento e d'oro; e non si trova fine de' suoi tesori. | 7 Their land is filled with silver and gold, and there is no end to their treasures; their land is filled with horses, and there is no end to their chariots. |
| 8 E la terra si riempiè di cavalli, e i carri suoi sono sanza numero. E fue piena la terra sua d' idoli e di fatture delle sue mani; e adorarono quello che fecero le loro dita. | 8 Their land is filled with idols; they bow down to the work of their hands, to what their own fingers have made. |
| 9 E ogni uomo s' inginocchiò e umiliossi; adunque non lo perdonar loro. | 9 So man is humbled, and men are brought low-- forgive them not! |
| 10 Entra nella pietra, e nasconditi nella fossa colla terra dalla faccia del timore di Dio, e dalla gloria della sua maestade. | 10 Enter into the rock, and hide in the dust from before the terror of the LORD, and from the glory of his majesty. |
| 11 Li occhi dell' alto uomo sono umiliati, e l'altezza delli uomini (compiuti) s' inchinerà a terra; e lo Signore Iddio solo sarà esaltato in quello tempo. | 11 The haughty looks of man shall be brought low, and the pride of men shall be humbled; and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day. |
| 12 Però che lo dì del Signore delli eserciti sta sopra ogni superbo, e sopra l'alto, e sopra ogni arrogante; | 12 For the LORD of hosts has a day against all that is proud and lofty, against all that is lifted up and high; |
| 13 e sopra tutti li cedri del Libano alti e diritti, e sopra tutte le quercie di Basan (che sono molto alte); | 13 against all the cedars of Lebanon, lofty and lifted up; and against all the oaks of Bashan; |
| 14 e sopra tutti li alti monti, e sopra tutti li colli inalzati; | 14 against all the high mountains, and against all the lofty hills; |
| 15 e sopra ogni alta torre, e sopra ogni muro armato; | 15 against every high tower, and against every fortified wall; |
| 16 e sopra tutte le navi di Tarsis, e sopra ogni cosa la quale è bella a vedere. | 16 against all the ships of Tarshish, and against all the beautiful craft. |
| 17 E ogni potenza d' uomo si piegherae a terra, e umilierassi l'altezza degli uomini, e lo solo Iddio s' inalzerà in quello tempo. | 17 And the haughtiness of man shall be humbled, and the pride of men shall be brought low; and the LORD alone will be exalted in that day. |
| 18 E l'idoli al tutto si spezzeranno. | 18 And the idols shall utterly pass away. |
| 19 Ed entreranno nelle spelonche delle pietre, e nelle crepature della terra, dalla faccia della forza di Dio e dalla gloria della sua maestade, quando sarà levato a percuotere la terra. | 19 And men shall enter the caves of the rocks and the holes of the ground, from before the terror of the LORD, and from the glory of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth. |
| 20 In quello tempo gitteranno li uomini l' idoli del suo argento, e li suoi simulacri dell' oro, li quali avevano fatti a sè per adorare le talpe e le nottole. (Simulacro tanto è a dire quanto cosa che pare e non [è], come erano quelli idoli). | 20 In that day men will cast forth their idols of silver and their idols of gold, which they made for themselves to worship, to the moles and to the bats, |
| 21 Ed entrerà nelle fessure delle pietre, e nelle caverne de' sassi, dalla faccia della fortezza di Dio e dalla gloria della sua maestade, quando sarà levato a percuotere la terra. | 21 to enter the caverns of the rocks and the clefts of the cliffs, from before the terror of the LORD, and from the glory of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth. |
| 22 Adunque riposatevi dall' uomo, lo cui spirito è nelle sue nari; però ch' egli è riputato lo eccelso. | 22 Turn away from man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he? |
