| 1 Disse ancora lo Signore a Moisè: va a Faraone, e favella a lui: queste cose dice lo Signore Iddio delli Ebrei: lascia il popolo mio, acciò ch' egli sacrifichi a me. | 1 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Go in to Pharaoh, and say to him, 'Thus says the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, "Let my people go, that they may serve me. |
| 2 Il quale, se ancora lo rifiuti, e ritieni loro, | 2 For if you refuse to let them go and still hold them, |
| 3 ecco sarà la mano mia sopra li campi tuoi; e sopra li cavalli ed asini e camelli tuoi e buoi e pecore, pestilenza molto grave. | 3 behold, the hand of the LORD will fall with a very severe plague upon your cattle which are in the field, the horses, the asses, the camels, the herds, and the flocks. |
| 4 E farà lo Signore cosa molto maravigliosa intra le possessioni d'Israel, e le possessioni degli Egizii, che ad ogni modo niuna cosa perisca di quelle che appartengono alli figliuoli d'Israel. | 4 But the LORD will make a distinction between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt, so that nothing shall die of all that belongs to the people of Israel.'" |
| 5 E ordinoe lo Signore lo tempo dicendo: do mani farà lo Signore questa cosa nella terra. | 5 And the LORD set a time, saying, "Tomorrow the LORD will do this thing in the land." |
| 6 E fece lo Signore questa cosa l'altro dì; e morti sono tutti li animali di quelli d'Egitto, ma degli animali de' figliuoli d'Israel niuno ne peri. | 6 And on the morrow the LORD did this thing; all the cattle of the Egyptians died, but of the cattle of the people of Israel not one died. |
| 7 E mandò Faraone a vedere; nè non era alcuno morto di quelli che possedeano quelli di Israel. Ed ingravato è lo cuore di Faraone, e non lasciò però il popolo andare. | 7 And Pharaoh sent, and behold, not one of the cattle of the Israelites was dead. But the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people go. |
| 8 Disse ancora lo Signore a Moisè e ad Aaron: togliete le mani piene della cenere del camino, e spargala nel cielo Moisè innanzi a Faraone. | 8 And the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, "Take handfuls of ashes from the kiln, and let Moses throw them toward heaven in the sight of Pharaoh. |
| 9 E sia la polvere in ogni terra d'Egitto: e saranno ancora negli uomini e nelle bestie le ferite e vesciche enfiate in tutta la terra d'Egitto. | 9 And it shall become fine dust over all the land of Egypt, and become boils breaking out in sores on man and beast throughout all the land of Egypt." |
| 10 E fatto è che tolsero la cenere del camino; e stettero dinnanzi a Faraone, e sparsela Moisè nel cielo; e fatte sono le ferite delle vesciche enfiate negli uomini e nelle bestie. | 10 So they took ashes from the kiln, and stood before Pharaoh, and Moses threw them toward heaven, and it became boils breaking out in sores on man and beast. |
| 11 Nè non poteano li incantatori istare innanzi a Moisè, per le ferite le quali erano in loro e in tutta la terra d'Egitto. | 11 And the magicians could not stand before Moses because of the boils, for the boils were upon the magicians and upon all the Egyptians. |
| 12 E induroe lo Signore lo cuore di Faraone; e non udì loro, siccome favellò lo Signore a Moisè. | 12 But the LORD hardened the heart of Pharaoh, and he did not listen to them; as the LORD had spoken to Moses. |
| 13 E disse lo Signore a Moisè: domattina lèvati su, e sta dinnanzi a Faraone, e dirai a lui: queste cose dice lo Signore Iddio delli Ebrei; lascia lo popolo mio, acciò ch' egli sacrifichi a me. | 13 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Rise up early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh, and say to him, 'Thus says the LORD, the God of the Hebrews, "Let my people go, that they may serve me. |
| 14 Per ciò che in questa volta manderò ogni piaga mia nel cuore tuo e sopra li servi tuoi e sopra lo popolo tuo, acciò che tu sappi che non è simile a me in ogni terra. | 14 For this time I will send all my plagues upon your heart, and upon your servants and your people, that you may know that there is none like me in all the earth. |
| 15 Ora adunque, stendente la mano mia, percuoterò te e lo popolo tuo di pestilenza, e perirai della terra. | 15 For by now I could have put forth my hand and struck you and your people with pestilence, and you would have been cut off from the earth; |
| 16 Ma adunque io posi te, acciò ch' io mostri in te la forza mia, e sia narrato lo mio nome in tutta la terra. | 16 but for this purpose have I let you live, to show you my power, so that my name may be declared throughout all the earth. |
| 17 Ancora tu ritieni lo popolo mio, e non lo vuoli lasciare? | 17 You are still exalting yourself against my people, and will not let them go. |
| 18 E pioverà in questa medesima ora domani gragnola molto repente, la quale non fue in Egitto dal dì che fu fondato insino al tempo presente giammai. | 18 Behold, tomorrow about this time I will cause very heavy hail to fall, such as never has been in Egypt from the day it was founded until now. |
| 19 Manda adunque, e raduna lo bestiame tuo e ogni cosa che tu hai nel campo; in verità gli uomini e gli animali e ogni cosa che trovata sarà di fuori, e non sarà tratta fuori degli campi, quando caderà sopra loro la gragnola, morranno. | 19 Now therefore send, get your cattle and all that you have in the field into safe shelter; for the hail shall come down upon every man and beast that is in the field and is not brought home, and they shall die.'" |
| 20 Quelli i quali temettero la parola del Signore, dei servi di Faraone, fecero fuggire li servi suoi e gli animali nelle case. | 20 Then he who feared the word of the LORD among the servants of Pharaoh made his slaves and his cattle flee into the houses; |
| 21 E chi non si curarono della parola del Signore, lasciaro i servi suoi e li animali ne' campi. | 21 but he who did not regard the word of the LORD left his slaves and his cattle in the field. |
| 22 E disse lo Signore a Moisè: stendi la mano tua in cielo, acciò che si faccia la gragnola in tutta la terra d'Egitto, sopra tutti gli uomini e sopra gli animali, e sopra le erbe de campi nella terra di Egitto. | 22 And the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch forth your hand toward heaven, that there may be hail in all the land of Egypt, upon man and beast and every plant of the field, throughout the land of Egypt." |
| 23 E Moisè stese la verga nel cielo; e lo Signore mandò li tuoni e la gragnola e le discorrenti saette sopra la terra. E piovve lo Signore la gra gnola sopra la terra d'Egitto. | 23 Then Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven; and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and fire ran down to the earth. And the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt; |
| 24 E la gragnola e lo fuoco mescolato pari mente erano portate; e tanta fu la grandezza della gragnola, quanta innanzi mai apparì in tutta la terra d'Egitto, dal tempo che quella gente fu constituta. | 24 there was hail, and fire flashing continually in the midst of the hail, very heavy hail, such as had never been in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. |
| 25 E percosse la gragnola in ogni terra di Egitto e ogni cosa ch' era ne' campi, dall'uomo insino all'animale; e tutta l'erba de' campi percosse la gragnola, e ruppe ogni legno. | 25 The hail struck down everything that was in the field throughout all the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and the hail struck down every plant of the field, and shattered every tree of the field. |
| 26 Solamente nella terra Gessen, dove erano li figliuoli d'Israel, la gragnola non cadde. | 26 Only in the land of Goshen, where the people of Israel were, there was no hail. |
| 27 Mandò Faraone, e chiamò Moisè ed Aaron, dicendo a loro: peccai testè ancora, lo Signore è giusto, ma io e il popolo mio siamo empii. | 27 Then Pharaoh sent, and called Moses and Aaron, and said to them, "I have sinned this time; the LORD is in the right, and I and my people are in the wrong. |
| 28 Prega al tuo Signore; e venghino li tuoni di Dio meno e la gragnola, acciò ch' io lasci voi, e più oltre non istiate qui. | 28 Entreat the LORD; for there has been enough of this thunder and hail; I will let you go, and you shall stay no longer." |
| 29 Disse Moisè: quando mi sarò partito della città, istenderò le palme mie al Signore, e cesserannoci li tuoni, e la gragnola non sarà, acciò che tu sappi che del Signore è la terra. | 29 Moses said to him, "As soon as I have gone out of the city, I will stretch out my hands to the LORD; the thunder will cease, and there will be no more hail, that you may know that the earth is the LORDs. |
| 30 Ma io conosco, che tu nè li servi tuoi non temete ancora lo Signore Iddio. | 30 But as for you and your servants, I know that you do not yet fear the LORD God." |
| 31 Lo lino adunque e l'orzo è magagnato, perciò che l'orzo era già virente, e lo lino avea già le foglie germinate. | 31 (The flax and the barley were ruined, for the barley was in the ear and the flax was in bud. |
| 32 Ma lo grano e lo farro non sono magagnati, perciò ch' egli erano serotini. | 32 But the wheat and the spelt were not ruined, for they are late in coming up.) |
| 33 E partitosi Moisè da Faraone della città, istese le mani sue al Signore, e cessarono li tuoni e la gragnola; nè più oltre venne la piova sopra la terra. | 33 So Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and stretched out his hands to the LORD; and the thunder and the hail ceased, and the rain no longer poured upon the earth. |
| 34 Ma vedendo Faraone, ch' era cessata la piova e la gragnola e li tuoni, aggiunse lo peccato. | 34 But when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunder had ceased, he sinned yet again, and hardened his heart, he and his servants. |
| 35 E ingravoe lo cuore suo e de' servi suoi; e indurato troppo, non lasciò li figliuoli d'Israel, siccome avea comandato lo Signore per la mano di Moisè. | 35 So the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, and he did not let the people of Israel go; as the LORD had spoken through Moses. |
