| 1 E in quel tempo era infermo Abia, figliuolo di Ieroboam. | 1 At that time Abijah the son of Jeroboam fell sick. |
| 2 E disse Ieroboam alla sua moglie: ista su e muta abito, acciò che tu non sii cognosciuta esser moglie di Ieroboam; e vattene in Silo dove che è Aia profeta, il quale mi disse ch' io dovea regnare sopra questo popolo. | 2 And Jeroboam said to his wife, "Arise, and disguise yourself, that it be not known that you are the wife of Jeroboam, and go to Shiloh; behold, Ahijah the prophet is there, who said of me that I should be king over this people. |
| 3 E nelle tue mani togli X pani e una crostola e uno vaso di miele, e vattene a lui; egli ti dirà quello che gli debba intervenire, cioè di questo fanciullo. | 3 Take with you ten loaves, some cakes, and a jar of honey, and go to him; he will tell you what shall happen to the child." |
| 4 E fece la moglie di Ieroboam sì come egli gli avea detto; e levandosi, se n' andò in Silo nella casa dove che Aia era; ed egli non potea vedere, però che avea gli occhii caliginosi per la vecchiezza. | 4 Jeroboam's wife did so; she arose, and went to Shiloh, and came to the house of Ahijah. Now Ahijah could not see, for his eyes were dim because of his age. |
| 5 E disse Iddio ad Aia: ecco, la moglie di Ieroboam viene a te per domandare consiglio, che debba essere del figliuolo (e che debbia fare, il quale figliuolo è) infermo; or gli dirai questo e questo. Entrando ella, e non mostrando d' essere quella ch' era, | 5 And the LORD said to Ahijah, "Behold, the wife of Jeroboam is coming to inquire of you concerning her son; for he is sick. Thus and thus shall you say to her." When she came, she pretended to be another woman. |
| 6 Aia uditte il suono de' piedi suoi entrando per l'uscio, e disse: entra, moglie di Ieroboam, perchè mostri d'essere altra persona? io sono mandato a te, duro messaggio. | 6 But when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, he said, "Come in, wife of Jeroboam; why do you pretend to be another? For I am charged with heavy tidings for you. |
| 7 Va, e di' a Ieroboam: questo dice il Signore Iddio d' Israel: però ch' io t'ho esaltato di mezzo del popolo, e hotti posto duca del popolo mio Israel; | 7 Go, tell Jeroboam, 'Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel: "Because I exalted you from among the people, and made you leader over my people Israel, |
| 8 e partii il reame della casa di David, e hollo dato a te, e tu non hai fatto sì come fece il mio servo David, il quale osservò gli miei comandamenti, e con tutto il suo cuore seguitò me, facendo quello che piacea nel mio cospetto; | 8 and tore the kingdom away from the house of David and gave it to you; and yet you have not been like my servant David, who kept my commandments, and followed me with all his heart, doing only that which was right in my eyes, |
| 9 ma tu hai operato male sopra tutti quelli che sono stati dinanzi a te, e hai fatto a te iddii estranei fonduti, a provocare me ad ira, e mi hai tu gittato dopo il corpo; | 9 but you have done evil above all that were before you and have gone and made for yourself other gods, and molten images, provoking me to anger, and have cast me behind your back; |
| 10 imperò io inducerò male sopra la casa di Ieroboam, insino a quello che piscia al muro, e l'ultimo di costoro sì è serrato in Israel; e munderò le reliquie della casa di Ieroboam, sì come si suole mundare il letame, insino al suolo. | 10 therefore behold, I will bring evil upon the house of Jeroboam, and will cut off from Jeroboam every male, both bond and free in Israel, and will utterly consume the house of Jeroboam, as a man burns up dung until it is all gone. |
| 11 E quelli di Ieroboam, che saranno morti in la cittade, saranno mangiati da' cani; e quelli che saranno morti in campo, saranno divorati dagli uccelli del cielo; però che il Signore dice così. | 11 Any one belonging to Jeroboam who dies in the city the dogs shall eat; and any one who dies in the open country the birds of the air shall eat; for the LORD has spoken it."' |
| 12 Tu istà suso, e vanne a casa tua; e nella entrata de' tuoi piedi nella città, morrà il fanciullo. | 12 Arise therefore, go to your house. When your feet enter the city, the child shall die. |
| 13 E tutta la città e Israel il piagnerà, e seppellirannolo; solo questi, di quelli di Ieroboam, sarà posto infra la sepoltura, però che buona parola è trovata sopra di lui dal Signore Iddio d' Israel nella casa di Ieroboam. | 13 And all Israel shall mourn for him, and bury him; for he only of Jeroboam shall come to the grave, because in him there is found something pleasing to the LORD, the God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam. |
| 14 Ma il Signore constituirà uno re sopra Israel, il quale percuoterà la casa di Ieroboam in questo dì e in questo tempo. | 14 Moreover the LORD will raise up for himself a king over Israel, who shall cut off the house of Jeroboam today. And henceforth |
| 15 E percuoterà il Signore Iddio Israel, sì come si suole muovere la canna nell' acqua; (e caverà) e disvellerà Israel di questa buona terra, la quale diede a' padri loro, e cacceragli [di là] dal fiume; però che fecero boschi a provocare il Signore. | 15 the LORD will smite Israel, as a reed is shaken in the water, and root up Israel out of this good land which he gave to their fathers, and scatter them beyond the Euphrates, because they have made their Asherim, provoking the LORD to anger. |
| 16 E lascerà il Signore Israel per Ieroboam, il quale peccò e fece peccare Israel. | 16 And he will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, which he sinned and which he made Israel to sin." |
| 17 E la moglie di Ieroboam si levò, e andossene in Tersa; ed entrando ella il sogliaro della casa, il fanciullo morìo. | 17 Then Jeroboam's wife arose, and departed, and came to Tirzah. And as she came to the threshold of the house, the child died. |
| 18 E sotterraronlo; e tutto Israel il pianse, secondo la parola del Signore, la quale egli parlò per mano di Aia profeta. | 18 And all Israel buried him and mourned for him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke by his servant Ahijah the prophet. |
| 19 Tutti gli altri fatti di Ieroboam, com' egli regnò e come combattè, sono scritti nel libro dei re d' Israel. | 19 Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, how he warred and how he reigned, behold, they are written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel. |
| 20 I dì che Ieroboam regnò furono XXII anni; e dormi Ieroboam coi padri suoi; e regnò Nadab suo figliuolo per lui. | 20 And the time that Jeroboam reigned was twenty-two years; and he slept with his fathers, and Nadab his son reigned in his stead. |
| 21 Ma Roboam figliuolo di Salomone regnò in Giuda. XLI anno avea Roboam, quando incominciò di regnare; e XVII anni regnò in Ierusalem, la quale città elesse Iddio per porre il suo nome ivi, di tutte le tribù d' Israel. Il nome della sua madre Naama di Amman. | 21 Now Rehoboam the son of Solomon reigned in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he began to reign, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city which the LORD had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. His mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess. |
| 22 E Giuda fece male nel cospetto del Signore; e provocaronlo in tutte quelle cose che aveano fatte i padri loro, nei peccati ne' quali peccarono. | 22 And Judah did what was evil in the sight of the LORD, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, more than all that their fathers had done. |
| 23 Però che gli loro altari e statue edificarono, e boschi in ogni colle alto, e sotto ogni legno frondoso. | 23 For they also built for themselves high places, and pillars, and Asherim on every high hill and under every green tree; |
| 24 Ed erano in terra sacerdoti castrati (pagani), e fecero ogni abbominazione de' pagani, le quali Iddio distrusse dinanzi al cospetto de' figliuoli d' Israel. | 24 and there were also male cult prostitutes in the land. They did according to all the abominations of the nations which the LORD drove out before the people of Israel. |
| 25 E nel quinto anno del regno di Roboam, andò Sesac re d' Egitto in Ierusalem. | 25 In the fifth year of King Rehoboam, Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem; |
| 26 E tolse i tesori della casa di Dio, e i tesori del re, e tutto portò via; e le scuda dell' oro, le quali avea fatte Saloinone. | 26 he took away the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king's house; he took away everything. He also took away all the shields of gold which Solomon had made; |
| 27 In luogo delle quali Roboam fece scuda d'acciaio, e dielle a' capitani di quelli che guardavano le scuda, e di quelli che vigilavano dinanzi alla casa del re. | 27 and King Rehoboam made in their stead shields of bronze, and committed them to the hands of the officers of the guard, who kept the door of the king's house. |
| 28 Ed entrando il re nella casa di Dio, portavano quelle scuda quelli che aveano ufficio [di andare] dinanzi al re; e poi le portavano all' armario delle scuda. | 28 And as often as the king went into the house of the LORD, the guard bore them and brought them back to the guardroom. |
| 29 Tutte l'altre cose di Roboam, e quello che egli fece, sono scritte nel libro del tempo dei re di Giuda. | 29 Now the rest of the acts of Rehoboam, and all that he did, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? |
| 30 E tra Roboam e Ieroboam tutta via fue guerra. | 30 And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam continually. |
| 31 E Roboam dormì co' padri suoi, e fu seppellito con esso loro nella città di David. Il nome della sua madre fu Naama di (gente d') Amman. E regnò Abia suo figliuolo per lui. | 31 And Rehoboam slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. His mother's name was Naamah the Ammonitess. And Abijam his son reigned in his stead. |
