| 1 Poscia in verità, quando Abram di LXXXXVIIII anni cominciò ad essere, appario a lui lo Signore, e disse a lui: io Iddio onnipotente sarò teco, e però va meco, e sii perfetto. | 1 When Abram was ninety-nine years old the LORD appeared to Abram, and said to him, "I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be blameless. |
| 2 E porrò lo patto mio intra me e te, e moltiplicherotti troppo grandemente. | 2 And I will make my covenant between me and you, and will multiply you exceedingly." |
| 3 Gittossi Abram inchinevolmente nella faccia sua. | 3 Then Abram fell on his face; and God said to him, |
| 4 E disse a lui il Signore: io sono, e fermo il patto mio teco, e sarai padre di molte genti. | 4 "Behold, my covenant is with you, and you shall be the father of a multitude of nations. |
| 5 E più oltre non sarae chiamato lo nome tuo Abram, ma sarai chiamato Abraam; impercioche padre di molte genti ho ordinato te. | 5 No longer shall your name be Abram, but your name shall be Abraham; for I have made you the father of a multitude of nations. |
| 6 E farotti crescere grandemente, e porrò te in genti; e Re di te usciranno. | 6 I will make you exceedingly fruitful; and I will make nations of you, and kings shall come forth from you. |
| 7 E statuirò lo patto mio intra me e te, ed intra lo seme tuo dopo te nelle generazioni loro, in patto sempiterno, acciò ch' io sia Iddio tuo, e del seme tuo dopo te. | 7 And I will establish my covenant between me and you and your descendants after you throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be God to you and to your descendants after you. |
| 8 E al seme tuo darò la terra della peregri nazione tua, tutta la terra di Canaan, in possessione eternale; e sarò lo loro Iddio. | 8 And I will give to you, and to your descendants after you, the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God." |
| 9 E disse un' altra volta Iddio ad Abraam: e tu adunque osserva lo patto mio, e lo seme tuo dopo te nelle generazioni loro. | 9 And God said to Abraham, "As for you, you shall keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you throughout their generations. |
| 10 Questo è lo patto che osserverete tra me e voi: ogni maschio circonciderete | 10 This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your descendants after you: Every male among you shall be circumcised. |
| 11 la carne del prepuzio vostro, acciò che sia in segno di patto intra me e voi. | 11 You shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and you. |
| 12 Il fanciullo di otto die sia circonciso intra voi, ogni maschio nelle generazioni vostre; così quello servo che è nato e nutrito in casa vostra, come quello è comperato di fuori, sia circonciso, e qualunque non sarà della schiatta vostra. | 12 He that is eight days old among you shall be circumcised; every male throughout your generations, whether born in your house, or bought with your money from any foreigner who is not of your offspring, |
| 13 Sarà ancora il patto mio (nella carne vostra) in patto eterno. | 13 both he that is born in your house and he that is bought with your money, shall be circumcised. So shall my covenant be in your flesh an everlasting covenant. |
| 14 Lo maschio dello quale la carne del prepuzio non sarà circoncisa, fie guasta quell'anima del popolo suo; imperciò che il patto mio non è stato Osservato. | 14 Any uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin shall be cut off from his people; he has broken my covenant." |
| 15 E disse lo Signore ad Abraam: Sarai tua moglie, non la chiamare Sarai, ma Sara. | 15 And God said to Abraham, "As for Sarai your wife, you shall not call her name Sarai, but Sarah shall be her name. |
| 16 Ed io la benedicerò, e di quella ti darò uno figliuolo; lo quale io benediceroe, e sarà sopra molte nazioni, e Re de' popoli nasceranno di lui. | 16 I will bless her, and moreover I will give you a son by her; I will bless her, and she shall be a mother of nations; kings of peoples shall come from her." |
| 17 E gittossi Abraam inchinevole nella faccia sua; e rise, dicente nel suo cuore: oh pensi, che dell' uomo di cento anni nascesse lo figliuolo, e Sara di Lxxxx anni partorisca? | 17 Then Abraham fell on his face and laughed, and said to himself, "Shall a child be born to a man who is a hundred years old? Shall Sarah, who is ninety years old, bear a child?" |
| 18 E disse al Signore: Dio lo volesse, che Ismael viva innanzi a te! | 18 And Abraham said to God, "O that Ishmael might live in thy sight!" |
| 19 E Dio disse ad Abraam: Sara tua moglie partorirà a te uno figliuolo, e chiamerai lo nome suo Isaac; e ordinerò lo patto mio a lui in patto sempiterno, e al seme suo dopo lui. | 19 God said, "No, but Sarah your wife shall bear you a son, and you shall call his name Isaac. I will establish my covenant with him as an everlasting covenant for his descendants after him. |
| 20 E sopra Ismael in verità t'ho esaudito: ecco, io benedicerò lui, ed accrescerò e moltiplicherò lui molto. Duodeci duchi genererà, e faroe lui venire in gente grande. | 20 As for Ishmael, I have heard you; behold, I will bless him and make him fruitful and multiply him exceedingly; he shall be the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation. |
| 21 Ma il patto mio ordinaroe ad Isaac; il quale ti partorirà Sara, in questo tempo, uno altro anno. | 21 But I will establish my covenant with Isaac, whom Sarah shall bear to you at this season next year." |
| 22 E conciosia cosa che finita fosse la parola del parlante con lui, partissi Iddio da Abraam. | 22 When he had finished talking with him, God went up from Abraham. |
| 23 E portò Abraam Ismael suo figliuolo, e tutti i servi nati in casa sua, e tutti quelli avea comperato, e tutti coloro che stavano nella casa sua; e circoncise la carne del prepuzio loro incontenente in quello die, sì come gli avea comandato il Signore. | 23 Then Abraham took Ishmael his son and all the slaves born in his house or bought with his money, every male among the men of Abraham's house, and he circumcised the flesh of their foreskins that very day, as God had said to him. |
| 24 Abraam di LxxXXVIII anni era, quando circoncise la carne del prepuzio suo. | 24 Abraham was ninety-nine years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. |
| 25 Ed Ismael suo figliuolo XIII avea compiuti nel tempo della circoncisione. | 25 And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin. |
| 26 Quello di medesimo circonciso è Abraam ed Ismael suo figliuolo. | 26 That very day Abraham and his son Ishmael were circumcised; |
| 27 E tutti gli uomini di quella casa, così i servi nati in casa, come i comparati e gli altri di altra gente, parimente circoncisono. | 27 and all the men of his house, those born in the house and those bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him. |
