Proverbi 2

BIBBIA VOLGARE	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Figliuolo mio, se tu accettarai i miei parlari, e i miei precetti asconderai appresso a te,	1 My son, if you would accept my words, and conceal my commandments within you,
2 [acciò] che le tue orecchie audano la sapienza; inclina il cor tno a cognoscer la prudenza.	2 so that your ears may listen to wisdom, then bend your heart in order to know prudence.
3 Se tu invocherai la sapienza, e chinerai il cor tuo alla prudenza;	3 For if you would call upon wisdom and bend your heart to prudence,
4 se tu la cercherai, come si cerca la pecunia, e caverai quella, come si cavano i tesori;	4 if you will seek her like money, and dig for her as if for treasure,
5 allora intenderai lo timore del Signore, e la scienza di Dio troverai.	5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord, and you will discover the knowledge of God.
6 Per che il Signore dà la sapienza; e dalla bocca sua procede la scienza e prudenza.	6 For the Lord bestows wisdom, and out of his mouth, prudence and knowledge.
7 Custodirà la salute degli uomini retti, e defenderà quelli vivono con simplicitade,	7 He will preserve the salvation of the righteous, and he will protect those who walk in simplicity:
8 quello il quale serva le vie della giustizia e le vie de' santi.	8 serving the paths of justice, and guarding the ways of sanctity.
9 Allora intenderai la giustizia, il giudicio, e la equitade e ogni buona via.	9 Then you shall understand justice and judgment, and equity, and every good path.
10 Se la sapienza intrarà nel cuor tuo, e se la scienza piacerà all' anima tua,	10 If wisdom is to enter into your heart, and if knowledge is to become pleasing to your soul,
11 il consiglio ti custodirà, la prudenza ti salverà,	11 then counsel must guard you, and prudence must serve you,
12 per tal modo che tu sarai liberato dalla mala via, e dagli uomini adulatori e detrattori;	12 so that you may be rescued from the evil way, and from the man who speaks perversities,
13 i quali abbandonano la via retta, e vanno per le vie tenebrose;	13 from those who leave the straight path to walk in dark ways,
14 i quali si rallegrano quando hanno fatto male, e fanno festa nelle pessime operazioni;	14 who rejoice when they have done evil, and who exult in the most wicked things.
15 de' quali le vie sono perverse, e la vita loro infame.	15 Their ways are perverse, and their steps are infamous.
16 Acciò che tu sia liberato della femina strana, e mogliere d'altrui, la qual persuade con dolci parole,	16 So may you be rescued from the foreign woman, and from the outsider, who softens her speech,
17 e abbandona quello che la guberna (cioè il marito suo),	17 and who leaves behind the Guide of her youth,
18 ed èssi dimenticata del comandamento di Dio; la casa sua è inclinata alla morte, e le vie sue allo inferno.	18 and who has forgotten the covenant of her God. For her household inclines toward death, and her paths toward Hell.
19 Tutti quelli intrano a quella, non torneranno, nè si accosteranno alle vie della vita.	19 All those who enter to her will not return again, nor will they take hold of the paths of life.
20 Acciò che tu vadi per la buona via; e sèguiti le operazioni degli uomini giusti.	20 So may you walk in the good way, and keep to the difficult paths of the just.
21 Per che quelli, che sono retti, abiteranno nella terra, e gli simplici rimarranno in essa.	21 For those who are upright shall live upon the earth, and the simple shall continue upon it.
22 Ma gli empii si perderanno della terra; e quelli iniquamente òperano, si torranno. da quella.	22 Yet truly, the impious shall perish from the earth, and those who act unjustly shall be taken away from it.
