1 Allora disse Salomone: il Signore promise ch' egli abitarebbe nella caligine.	1 Then Solomon said: Yahweh has chosen to dwel in thick cloud,
2 Io hoe edificata la casa al suo nome, acciò che abiti in quella in perpetuo.	2 and I have built you a princely dwel ing, a residence for you for ever.
3 E volse il viso suo, e benedisse tutta la moltitudine d' Israel; e tutta la turba istava intenta; e disse:	3 Then the king turned round and blessed the whole assembly of Israel, while the whole assembly ofIsrael stood.
4 Benedetto il Signore Iddio d' Israel, il quale quello che disse al mio padre David, hae fornito per opera, dicendo:	4 He said, 'Blessed be Yahweh, God of Israel, who has carried out by his hand what he promisedverbally to my father David, when he said,
5 Dal dì che io trassi il mio popolo d' Egitto, non elessi città di tutte le tribù d' Israel, nella quale [si] edificasse casa al mio nome; e non elessi alcuno altro uomo, che fosse duca sopra il popolo mic Israel;	5 "From the day I brought my people out of Egypt I chose no city, in any of the tribes of Israel, to have atemple built where my name should be, nor did I choose anyone to be prince of my people Israel;
6 ma elessi Ierusalem, acciò che il mio nome sia in essa; ed elessi David, acciò ch' io il (facessi e) ordinassi sopra il mio popolo d'Israel.	6 but I did choose Jerusalem for my name to be there, and I did choose David to rule my people Israel."
7 Ed essendo di volontà del mio padre David edificare casa al nome del Signore Iddio d' Israel,	7 My father David had set his heart on building a temple for the name of Yahweh, God of Israel,
8 disse il Signore a lui: però che questa è istata la tua volontà, di edificare casa al mio nome, tu hai fatto bene aver questa volontà.	8 but Yahweh said to my father David, "You have set your heart on building a temple for my name, and inthis you have done wel ;
9 Ma non mi edificherai casa tu; ma il tuo figliuolo, il quale uscirà de' tuoi lombi, egli edificherà casa al mio nome.	9 and yet, you are not the man to build the temple; but your son, yet to be born to you, wil be the one tobuild the temple for my name."
10 Onde hae compiuto il Signore il suo sermone, il quale egli disse; ed io mi sono levato per lo mio padre David, e sono seduto sopra la sedia d' Israel, sì come il Signore disse, e hoe edificata casa al nome del Signore Iddio d'Israel.	10 Yahweh has kept the promise which he made: I have succeeded my father David and am seated onthe throne of Israel, as Yahweh promised; I have built the temple for the name of Yahweh, God of Israel,
11 E hoe posto in quella l'arca nella quale è il patto del Signore, il quale fece coi figliuoli d' Israel.	11 and I have placed in it the ark containing the covenant of Yahweh, which he made with the Israelites.'
12 [E stette dinanzi all' altare del Signore] rimpetto alla moltitudine d' Israel, e distese le sue mani.	12 Then in the presence of the whole assembly of Israel, he stood facing the altar of Yahweh andstretched out his hands-
13 E avea fatta Salomone una base di metallo, e postala nel mezzo della casa; la quale base era lunga cinque cubiti, e cinque larga, e tre alta; e istette sopra quella, e inginocchiato rincontro a tutta la moltitudine d' Israel, e levate le palme al cielo,	13 for Solomon had made a bronze platform, five cubits long, five cubits wide and five cubits high, whichhe had placed in the middle of the court and on which he was standing; he knelt down in front of the wholeassembly of Israel, stretched out his hands to heaven-
14 disse: Signore Iddio d' Israel, non è Dio simile a te in cielo nè in terra; il quale servi il patto e la misericordia co' servi tuoi, i quali andarono dinanzi a te con tutto il suo cuore;	14 and said, 'Yahweh, God of Israel, there is no god like you in heaven or on earth, you who are loyal tothe covenant and show faithful love to your servants as long as they walk wholeheartedly in your way.
15 il quale hae prestato al servo tuo mio padre David tutto quello che gli avevi detto; e [quello] che gli avevi promesso con la bocca tua, hai compiuto col fatto, sì come prova il presente die.	15 You have kept it with your servant, my father David, as you promised him you would. What youpromised verbally today you have carried out by your hand.
16 E ora, Signore Dio d' Israel, adempi al tuo servo mio padre David tutto quello che tu gli dicesti e non verrà meno di te dinanzi da me uomo il quale segga sopra la sedia d' Israel; in cotal modo, se i figliuoli tuoi serveranno le mie vie, e anderanno per la legge mia, sì come tu se' andato dinanzi a me.	16 And now, Yahweh, God of Israel, keep the promise which you made to your servant David when yousaid, "You wil never lack for a man to sit in my presence before me on the throne of Israel, provided that yoursons are careful how they behave, fol owing my law as you yourself have done."
17 E ora, Signore Iddio d' Israel, sia fermato il tuo sermone, il quale tu dicesti al (mio padre) David tuo servo.	17 So now, God of Israel, let the words come true which you spoke to your servant, my father David.
18 Com'è egli credibile che Iddio abiti sopra la terra con esso gli uomini? Se il cielo e' cieli dei cieli non ti possono contenere, quanto maggiormente questa casa la quale io hoe edificata?	18 Yet wil God real y live with the people on earth? Why, the heavens and the heavens of the heavenscannot contain you! How much less this temple built by me!
19 Ma egli è fatto solo a questo, acciò che tu, Signore mio Iddio, risguardi all' orazione del tuo servo (e alle sue preghiere), e che tu esaudischi (le sue petizioni e) i prieghi che il tuo servo ispande dinanzi da te;	19 Even so, listen favourably to the prayer and entreaty of your servant, Yahweh my God; listen to the cryand to the prayer which your servant makes to you:
20 e che tu apra gli occhi tuoi sopra questa [casa] dì e notte, sopra il luogo nel quale tu hai promesso, che fosse invocato il tuo nome (santo),	20 Day and night, may your eyes watch over this temple, over this place in which you have promised toput your name. Listen to the prayer which your servant offers in this place.
21 e che tu esaudiresti la orazione, la quale il tuo servo orerà in essa; onde esaudisci la orazione. del tuo servo, e del tuo popolo d'Israel. Qualunque (ora) orerà in questo luogo, tu lo esaudisci del tuo abitacolo, cioè del cielo, e sia tu propizio.	21 'Listen to the entreaties of your servant and of your people Israel; whenever they pray in this place,listen from the place where you reside in heaven; and when you hear, forgive.
22 Se alcuno peccherà nel prossimo suo, e verrà apparecchiato di giurare contra di lui, e costringerà sè alla maledizione dinanzi all' altare in questa casa;	22 'If someone has wronged his neighbour and a curse is laid on him to make him swear here beforeyour altar in this Temple,
23 tu lui intendi di cielo, e farai il giudizio de' servi tuoi, sì che tu renda allo iniquo la sua via nel capo suo, e vendichi lo giusto, e rendagli tu secondo la sua giustizia.	23 then listen from heaven and do justice between your servants, paying back the guilty one by makinghim suffer for his conduct, and acquitting the upright by rewarding him as his uprightness deserves.
24 Se il tuo popolo Israel sarà soperchiato dai suoi nemici, però che peccano a te, e convertendosi faranno penitenza, e pregheranno il tuo nome, e oreranno in questo luogo;	24 'If your people Israel are defeated by the enemy because they have sinned against you, but thenreturn to you and acknowledge your name, and pray and seek your favour in this temple,
25 tu gli esaudirai di cielo, e perdonerai i peccati del tuo popolo d' Israel, e redura'gli nella terra la quale tu hae data a loro e a' loro padri.	25 then listen from heaven; forgive the sin of your people Israel, and bring them back to the countrywhich you gave to them and their ancestors.
26 Se chiuso il cielo non pioverà per li peccati del popolo, e pregheranno te in questo luogo, e confesseransi al tuo nome, convertiti dai loro peccati quando tu gli avrai afflitti,	26 'When the heavens are shut and there is no rain because they have sinned against you, if they pray inthis place and praise your name and, having been humbled by you, desist from their sin,
27 Signore, esaudiscigli di cielo, e perdona al tuo popolo, e ai tuoi servi, i peccati loro, e insegna loro la buona via per la quale vadano; e dà la piova alla terra, la quale tu desti a possedere al tuo popolo.	27 then listen from heaven and forgive the sin of your servant and of your people Israel -- for you areconstantly showing them the good way which they must fol ow -- and send rain on your country, which you havegiven to your people as their heritage.
28 Se in terra sarà nata fame o pestilenza o ruggine, locuste ovvero bruchi; e i nemici, fatto il guasto, assedieranno le porte della città, e opprimerà ogni piaga e infermità;	28 'Should there be famine in the country, or pestilence, wind-blast or mildew, locust or caterpil ar; shouldtheir enemy lay siege to their territory; should there be any plague or any disease;
29 qualunque del tuo popolo d' Israel, conoscendo la sua piaga e la sua infermità, pregherà te, e ispanderà le sue mani in questo luogo;	29 whatever be the prayer or entreaty of any individual, or of al your people Israel, each being aware ofhis own affliction and pain; when he stretches out his hands towards this Temple,
30 tu gli esaudirai di cielo, cioè dell' alto luogo del tuo abitacolo; e sii propizio, e rendi a ciascuno [secondo] le sue vie, le quali tu sai ch' egli hae nel suo cuore; però che tu solo sai i cuori de' figliuoli degli uomini;	30 then listen from heaven where you reside; forgive and, since you know what is in his heart, deal witheach as his conduct deserves -- for you alone know what is in the human heart-
31 i quali temono te, e vanno per le tue vie, tutto il tempo che vivono sopra la terra, la quale tu desti a' padri nostri.	31 so that they may revere you by following your directions, which you gave to our ancestors, throughouttheir lives on earth.
32 E se alcuno forestiere, il quale non sarà del tuo popolo d' Israel, verrà di lunga terra per lo tuo grande nome, e per la tua forte mano, e per lo tuo braccio disteso, e adorerà in questo luogo,	32 'Even the foreigner, not belonging to your people Israel but coming from a distant country, attracted byyour great name, your mighty hand and outstretched arm, if he comes and prays in this Temple,
33 tu lui esaudirai di cielo, tuo firmissimo abitacolo, e farai tutte le cose per le quali quello forestiere avrà pregato; acciò che tutti i popoli della terra sappiano il tuo nome, e temano te, sì come il tuo popolo d' Israel; e sappiano che il tuo nome è invocato sopra questa casa, la quale io hoe edificata (al tuo nome).	33 then listen from heaven where you reside, and grant al that the foreigner asks of you, so that al thepeoples of the earth may acknowledge your name and, like your people Israel, revere you, and know that thisTemple, which I have built, bears your name.
34 Se il tuo popolo uscirà a battaglia contra gli suoi avversarii per la via per la quale tu gli avrai mandati, e adoreranno te contra la via nella quale è questa città la quale tu eleggesti, e la casa la quale io edificai (contro) al tuo nome;	34 'If your people go out to war against their enemies, on whatever mission you send them, and they prayto you, turning towards this city which you have chosen and towards the Temple which I have built for yourname,
35 (acciò che) tu odi le loro preghiere di cielo e le loro orazioni, e (che tu) fa la loro vendetta.	35 then listen from heaven to their prayer and their entreaty, and uphold their cause.
36 E se egli peccheranno a te; però che non è veruno uomo che non pecchi; e tu sarai irato, e darai loro a' loro nemici, e menerannogli prigioni in lunga terra, ovvero che sia appresso;	36 'When they sin against you -- for there is no one who does not sin -- and you are angry with them andabandon them to the enemy, and their captors carry them off to a country be it far away or near,
37 e in quella terra, alla quale saranno menati, nel cuore loro (si convertiranno e) pentirannosi, e pregheranno te nella terra della loro prigione, dicendo: noi abbiamo peccato, noi abbiamo fatto iniquamente e ingiuriosamente;	37 if they come to their senses in the country to which they have been taken as captives and pray to youonce again in the country of their captivity, saying, "We have sinned, we have acted wrongly and wickedly,"
38 e ritorneranno a te con tutto il suo cuore, e in tutta la sua anima, nella terra della loro prigione alla quale saranno [stati] menati, e adoreranno te verso la via della sua terra, la quale tu desti a' padri loro, e della città la quale tu eleggesti, e della casa la quale io edificai [al tuo nome];	38 and turn back to you with al their heart and soul in the country of their captivity to which they havebeen carried away as captives, and pray, turning towards the country which you gave to their ancestors, towardsthe city you have chosen, and towards the Temple which I have built for your name,
39 [tu esaudirai del cielo, cioè] del tuo fermissimo abitacolo [le loro preghiere], e facci giudizio, e che tu perdoni al tuo popolo, quantunque e' sia peccatore.	39 then listen from heaven where you reside, hear their prayer and entreaties, uphold their cause andforgive your people for having sinned against you.
40 Tu in verità se' mio Signore; però ti prego che gli occhi tuoi sieno aperti, e le tue orecchie sieno intente alla orazione la quale si fa in questo luogo.	40 'Now, O my God, may your eyes be open and your ears attentive to prayer offered in this place.
41 Ora, Signore Iddio, lèvati nella tua requie, tu e l'arca della tua fortezza; Signore Iddio, i tuoi sacerdoti siano vestiti di salute, e i tuoi santi si rallegrino in bene.	41 And now Yahweh God, go up to your resting-place, you and your fortress, the Ark! Let your priests,Yahweh God, be robed in salvation, let your faithful rejoice in what is good!
42 Signore Iddio, non volgere la faccia del tuo cristo; ricòrdati delle misericordie del tuo servo David.	42 Yahweh God, do not rebuff your Anointed -- remember the faithful love of your servant David!'
