| 1 Quando Salomone ebbe finito di edificare la casa del Signore, quella del re, e tutto ciò che egli aveva desiderato e voluto fare, | 1 When Solomon had finished building the house of the LORD and the king's house and all that Solomon desired to build, |
| 2 il Signore gli apparve una seconda volta, come gli era apparso in Gabaon. | 2 the LORD appeared to Solomon a second time, as he had appeared to him at Gibeon. |
| 3 Il Signore gli disse: « Io ho esaudito la tua orazione, la tua supplica, che hai fatto davanti a me, ho santificata questa casa da te edificata: vi metterò il mio nome in sempiterno, e i miei occhi e il mio cuore saranno là tutti i giorni. | 3 And the LORD said to him, "I have heard your prayer and your supplication, which you have made before me; I have consecrated this house which you have built, and put my name there for ever; my eyes and my heart will be there for all time. |
| 4 Inoltre, se tu camminerai dinanzi a me come camminò tuo padre, nella semplicità di cuore e nell'equità, se farai tutto quello ch'io t'ho comandato, e osserverai le mie leggi e i miei comandamenti, | 4 And as for you, if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, with integrity of heart and uprightness, doing according to all that I have commanded you, and keeping my statutes and my ordinances, |
| 5 io stabilirò il trono del tuo regno in eterno sopra Israele, come promisi a David tuo padre, dicendo: Non mancherà uno della tua stirpe sul trono d'Israele. | 5 then I will establish your royal throne over Israel for ever, as I promised David your father, saying, 'There shall not fail you a man upon the throne of Israel.' |
| 6 Ma se voi e i vostri figli vi allontanerete da me, e non mi seguirete coll'osservanza dei miei precetti e delle mie cerimonie che vi ho proposte, ma andrete a servire gli dèi stranieri, ad adorarli, | 6 But if you turn aside from following me, you or your children, and do not keep my commandments and my statutes which I have set before you, but go and serve other gods and worship them, |
| 7 io svellerò Israele dalla terra che gli ho data, rigetterò dal mio cospetto il tempio che consacrai al mio nome, e Israele diverrà proverbio e favola fra tutti i popoli. | 7 then I will cut off Israel from the land which I have given them; and the house which I have consecrated for my name I will cast out of my sight; and Israel will become a proverb and a byword among all peoples. |
| 8 Questa casa diverrà un esempio: chiunque passerà presso di lei stupirà, fischierà e dirà: Per qual motivo il Signore ha trattato in questa maniera questo paese, e questo tempio? | 8 And this house will become a heap of ruins; everyone passing by it will be astonished, and will hiss; and they will say, 'Why has the LORD done thus to this land and to this house?' |
| 9 E sarà risposto: Perchè hanno abbandonato il Signore Dio loro che trasse i loro padri dalla terra d'Egitto, e sono andati dietro agli dèi stranieri, li hanno adorati e serviti; per questo il Signore ha fatto venire sopra di loro tutti questi mali ». | 9 Then they will say, 'Because they forsook the LORD their God who brought their fathers out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them and served them; therefore the LORD has brought all this evil upon them.'" |
| 10 Al termine dei venti anni, nei quali Salomone edificò le due case, la casa del Signore e quella del re, | 10 At the end of twenty years, in which Solomon had built the two houses, the house of the LORD and the king's house, |
| 11 siccome Hiram re di Tiro aveva somministrati i legnami di cedro e di abete e l'oro necessario, Salomone diede allora ad Hiram venti città nel paese della Galilea. | 11 and Hiram king of Tyre had supplied Solomon with cedar and cypress timber and gold, as much as he desired, King Solomon gave to Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee. |

| 14 Hiram aveva mandato a Salomone centoventi talenti d'oro. | 14 Hiram had sent to the king one hundred and twenty talents of gold. |

| 16 Faraone re d'Egitto salì e prese Gazer, la diede alle fiamme ed uccise i Cananei che abitavano la città, poi la diede come dote alla sua figlia moglie di Salomone. | 16 (Pharaoh king of Egypt had gone up and captured Gezer and burnt it with fire, and had slain the Canaanites who dwelt in the city, and had given it as dowry to his daughter, Solomon's wife; |

| 20 Le genti rimaste degli Amorrei, degli Etei, dei Ferezei, degli Evei, dei Gebusei, che non sono dei figli d'Israele, | 20 All the people who were left of the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, who were not of the people of Israel-- |
| 21 e i loro figli rimasti nel paese, quelli cioè che i figli d'Israele non avevano potuto sterminare, Salomone li fece tributari, come sono anch'oggi. | 21 their descendants who were left after them in the land, whom the people of Israel were unable to destroy utterly--these Solomon made a forced levy of slaves, and so they are to this day. |
| 22 Ma dei figli d'Israele non fece servir nessuno: essi erano uomini di guerra, suoi ministri, principi, capi e comandanti dei carri e dei cavalli. | 22 But of the people of Israel Solomon made no slaves; they were the soldiers, they were his officials, his commanders, his captains, his chariot commanders and his horsemen. |

| 27 E Hiram mandò su quella flotta i suoi servi, marinai e pratici del mare, insieme ai servi di Salomone. | 27 And Hiram sent with the fleet his servants, seamen who were familiar with the sea, together with the servants of Solomon; |
| 28 Essi, andati ad Ofir, tolsero di là quattrocento venti talenti d'oro e li portarono a Salomone. | 28 and they went to Ophir, and brought from there gold, to the amount of four hundred and twenty talents; and they brought it to King Solomon. |
