Epístola aos Hebreus 2

SAGRADA BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Por isso, é necessário prestarmos a maior atenção à mensagem que temos recebido, para não acontecer que nos desviemos do caminho reto.	1 We ought, then, to turn our minds more attentively than before to what we have been taught, so that wedo not drift away.
2 A palavra anunciada por intermédio dos anjos era a tal ponto válida, que toda transgressão ou desobediência recebeu o justo castigo.	2 If a message that was spoken through angels proved to be so reliable that every infringement anddisobedience brought its own proper punishment,
3 Como, então, escaparemos nós se agora desprezarmos a mensagem da salvação, tão sublime, anunciada primeiramente pelo Senhor e depois confirmada pelos que a ouviram,	3 then we shal certainly not go unpunished if we neglect such a great salvation. It was first announced bythe Lord himself, and is guaranteed to us by those who heard him;
4 comprovando-a o próprio Deus por sinais, prodígios, milagres e pelos dons do Espírito Santo, repartidos segundo a sua vontade?	4 God himself confirmed their witness with signs and marvels and miracles of al kinds, and bydistributing the gifts of the Holy Spirit in the various ways he wil s.
5 Não foi tampouco aos anjos que Deus submeteu o mundo vindouro, de que falamos.	5 It was not under angels that he put the world to come, about which we are speaking.
6 Alguém em certa passagem afirmou: Que é o homem para que dele te lembres, ou o filho do homem, para que o visites?	6 Someone witnesses to this somewhere with the words: What are human beings that you spare athought for them, a child of Adam that you care for him?
7 Por pouco tempo o colocaste inferior aos anjos; de glória e de honra o coroaste,	7 For a short while you have made him less than the angels; you have crowned him with glory andhonour,
8 e sujeitaste a seus pés todas as coisas {Sl 8,5s}. Ora, se lhe sujeitou todas as coisas, nada deixou que não lhe ficasse sujeito. Atualmente, é verdade, não vemos que tudo lhe esteja sujeito.	8 put al things under his feet. For in putting al things under him he made no exceptions. At present, it istrue, we are not able to see that all things are under him,
9 Mas aquele que fora colocado por pouco tempo abaixo dos anjos, Jesus, nós o vemos, por sua Paixão e morte, coroado de glória e de honra. Assim, pela graça de Deus, a sua morte aproveita a todos os homens.	9 but we do see Jesus, who was for a short while made less than the angels, now crowned with glory andhonour because he submitted to death; so that by God's grace his experience of death should benefit allhumanity.
10 Aquele para quem e por quem todas as coisas existem, desejando conduzir à glória numerosos filhos, deliberou elevar à perfeição, pelo sofrimento, o autor da salvação deles,	10 It was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should, in bringing many sons toglory, make perfect through suffering the leader of their salvation.
11 para que santificador e santificados formem um só todo. Por isso, {Jesus} não hesita em chamá-los seus irmãos,	11 For consecrator and consecrated are al of the same stock; that is why he is not ashamed to call thembrothers
12 dizendo: Anunciarei teu nome a meus irmãos, no meio da assembléia cantarei os teus louvores {Sl 21,23}.	12 in the text: I shal proclaim your name to my brothers, praise you in full assembly; or in the text:
13 E outra vez: Quanto a mim, ponho nele a minha confiança {Is 8,17}; e: Eis-me aqui, eu e os filhos que Deus me deu {Is 8,18}.	13 I shal put my hope in him; fol owed by Look, I and the children whom God has given me.
14 Porquanto os filhos participam da mesma natureza, da mesma carne e do sangue, também ele participou, a fim de destruir pela morte aquele que tinha o império da morte, isto é, o demônio,	14 Since al the children share the same human nature, he too shared equal y in it, so that by his deathhe could set aside him who held the power of death, namely the devil,
15 e libertar aqueles que, pelo medo da morte, estavam toda a vida sujeitos a uma verdadeira escravidão.	15 and set free al those who had been held in slavery all their lives by the fear of death.
16 Veio em socorro, não dos anjos, e sim da raça de Abraão;	16 For it was not the angels that he took to himself; he took to himself the line of Abraham.
17 e por isso convinha que ele se tornasse em tudo semelhante aos seus irmãos, para ser um pontífice compassivo e fiel no serviço de Deus, capaz de expiar os pecados do povo.	17 It was essential that he should in this way be made completely like his brothers so that he couldbecome a compassionate and trustworthy high priest for their relationship to God, able to expiate the sins of thepeople.
18 De fato, por ter ele mesmo suportado tribulações, está em condição de vir em auxílio dos que são atribulados.	18 For the suffering he himself passed through while being put to the test enables him to help otherswhen they are being put to the test.
