Deuteronômio 34

SAGRADA BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Subiu Moisés das planícies de Moab ao monte Nebo, ao cimo do Fasga, defronte de Jericó. O Senhor mostrou-lhe toda a terra, desde Galaad até Dá,	1 Then, leaving the Plains of Moab, Moses went up Mount Nebo, the peak of Pisgah opposite Jericho,and Yahweh showed him the whole country: Gilead as far as Dan,
2 todo o Neftali, a terra de Efraim e de Manassés, todo o território de Judá até o mar ocidental,	2 the whole of Naphtali, the country of Ephraim and Manasseh, the whole country of Judah as far as theWestern Sea,
3 o Negeb, a planície do Jordão, o vale de Jericó, a cidade das palmeiras, até Segor.	3 the Negeb, and the region of the Val ey of Jericho, city of palm trees, as far as Zoar.
4 O Senhor disse-lhe: Eis a terra que jurei a Abraão, a Isaac e a Jacó dar à sua posteridade. Viste-a com os teus olhos, mas não entrarás nela.	4 Yahweh said to him, 'This is the country which I promised on oath to give to Abraham, Isaac andJacob, saying: I shal give it to your descendants. I have al owed you to see it for yourself, but you wil not crossinto it.'
5 E Moisés, o servo do Senhor, morreu ali na terra de Moab, como o Senhor decidira.	5 There in the country of Moab, Moses, servant of Yahweh, died as Yahweh decreed;
6 E ele o enterrou no vale da terra de Moab, defronte de Bet-Fogor, e ninguém jamais soube o lugar do seu sepulcro.	6 he buried him in the val ey, in the country of Moab, opposite Beth-Peor; but to this day no one hasever found his grave.
7 Moisés tinha cento e vinte anos no momento de sua morte: sua vista não se tinha enfraquecido, e o seu vigor não se tinha abalado.	7 Moses was a hundred and twenty years old when he died, his eye undimmed, his vigour unimpaired.
8 Os israelitas choraram-no durante trinta dias nas planícies de Moab; e, passado esse tempo, acabaram-se os dias de pranto consagrados ao luto por Moisés.	8 The Israelites wept for Moses on the Plains of Moab for thirty days. The days of weeping for themourning rites of Moses came to an end.
9 Josué, filho de Nun, ficou cheio do Espírito de Sabedoria, porque Moisés lhe tinha imposto as suas mãos. Os israelitas obedeceram-lhe, assim como o Senhor tinha ordenado a Moisés.	9 Joshua son of Nun was filled with the spirit of wisdom, for Moses had laid his hands on him, and himthe Israelites obeyed, carrying out the order which Yahweh had given to Moses.
10 Não se levantou mais em Israel profeta comparável a Moisés, com quem o Senhor conversava face a face.	10 Since then, there has never been such a prophet in Israel as Moses, the man whom Yahweh knewface to face.
11 {Ninguém o igualou} quanto a todos os sinais e prodígios que o Senhor o mandou fazer na terra do Egito, diante do faraó, de seus servos e de sua terra,	11 What signs and wonders Yahweh caused him to perform in Egypt against Pharaoh, al his servantsand his whole country!
12 nem quanto a todos os feitos e às terríveis ações que ele operou sob os olhos de todo o Israel.	12 How mighty the hand and great the fear that Moses wielded in the eyes of al Israel!
