Ezequiel 35

SAGRADA BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 A palavra do Senhor foi-me dirigida nestes termos:	1 The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,
2 filho do homem, volta-te para o lado da montanha de Seir, e profetiza contra ela;	2 'Son of man, turn towards Mount Seir and prophesy against it.
3 Dize-lhe: eis o que diz o Senhor Javé: é contra ti que venho, monte de Seir; eu vou levantar a mão contra ti. Farei de ti um deserto e uma solidão;	3 Say to it, "The Lord Yahweh says this: Look, I am against you, Mount Seir; I shall stretch out my handagainst you; I shal make you a desolate waste;
4 reduzirei as tuas cidades a ruínas, a fim de que saibas que sou eu o Senhor.	4 I shal lay your towns in ruins. You wil become a waste and you wil know that I am Yahweh.
5 Já que tens nutrido ódio eterno pelos israelitas, e os entregaste ao fio da espada no dia de sua aflição, e ao termo da sua iniqüidade,	5 Since, fol owing a long-standing hatred, you betrayed the Israelites to the sword on the day of theirdistress, on the day when an end came for their guilt,
6 pois bem: por minha vida - oráculo do Senhor Javé -, eu te entregarei ao sangue, e o sangue há de perseguir-te; porquanto não te horrorizes em derramar sangue, o sangue há de perseguir-te.	6 very wel , as I live -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- I destine you to bloodshed, and bloodshed wilpursue you. I swear it; you have incurred guilt by shedding blood, and bloodshed will pursue you.
7 Farei da montanha de Seir um deserto e uma solidão, e suprimirei da terra todos os transeuntes.	7 I shal make Mount Seir a desolate waste and denude it of anyone travel ing to and fro.
8 Cobrirei tuas montanhas de cadáveres: sobre teus outeiros, teus vales e tuas torrentes tombarão aqueles a quem corta o gládio.	8 I shal fil its mountains with its slaughtered; on your hills, in your val eys and in all your ravines, thoseslaughtered by the sword will fal .
9 Reduzir-te-ei a solidões eternas; tuas cidades serão despovoadas. Assim saberás tu que eu é que sou o Senhor.	9 I shal make you a perpetual waste, your towns wil never be inhabited again, and you wil know that Iam Yahweh.
10 Já que disseste: as duas nações, os dois países serão meus, e tomarei posse deles, ainda que o Senhor aí resida,	10 "Since you said: The two nations and the two countries wil be mine; we are going to take possessionof it, although Yahweh was there,
11 pois bem: por minha vida - oráculo do Senhor Javé -, eu te tratarei com a mesma furiosa cólera com que os trataste, e far-me-ei conhecer no modo por que hei de exercer o meu julgamento contra ti.	11 very well, as I live -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- I shal act with the same anger and jealousy as youacted in your hatred for them. I shall make myself known for their sake, when I punish you,
12 Saberás que eu, o Senhor, ouvi todas as blasfêmias que proferiste contra as montanhas de Israel, quando dizias: ei-las devastadas! Elas nos são dadas como pasto.	12 and you wil know that I, Yahweh, have heard al the blasphemies which you have uttered against themountains of Israel, such as: They have been laid waste, they have been given to us for us to devour.
13 Haveis-me afrontado com uma multidão de palavras insolentes contra mim. Eu as ouvi.	13 Great was your insolence towards me, many your speeches against me; I have heard!
14 Eis o que diz o Senhor Javé:	14 Lord Yahweh says this: To the joy of the whole world, I shal make you a waste.
15 enquanto toda a terra estiver em alegria, farei de ti uma solidão. Porque te tens alegrado com a devastação da herança da casa de Israel, eu te tratarei do mesmo modo: serás devastada, montanha de Seir, assim como toda a Iduméia. Assim reconhecerás que sou eu o Senhor.	15 Since you rejoiced because the heritage of the House of Israel had been laid waste, I shal do thesame to you, Mount Seir; and you wil become a waste, and so wil the whole of Edom; and they will know that Iam Yahweh.' "
