1 Eliseu dissera à mulher, cujo filho ele ressuscitara: Parte com todos os teus, e habita no estrangeiro, porque o Senhor fez vir a fome, e ela virá sobre a terra durante sete anos.	1 Elisha once said to the woman whose son he had restored to life: "Get ready! Leave with your family and settle wherever you can, because the LORD has decreed a seven-year famine which is coming upon the land."
2 Esta mulher fez o que lhe disse o homem de Deus: emigrou com sua família e habitou sete anos na terra dos filisteus.	2 The woman got ready and did as the man of God said, setting out with her family and settling in the land of the Philistines for seven years.
3 Passados os sete anos, voltou da terra dos filisteus e foi falar ao rei a respeito de sua casa e de sua terra.	3 At the end of the seven years, the woman returned from the land of the Philistines and went out to the king to claim her house and her field.
4 O rei estava conversando com Giezi, servo do homem de Deus, e pedia-lhe que lhe contasse os prodígios que Eliseu tinha feito.	4 The king was talking with Gehazi, the servant of the man of God. "Tell me," he said, "all the great things that Elisha has done."
5 Giezi estava justamente contando como Eliseu havia ressuscitado um morto, quando a mulher, cujo filho ressuscitara, chegou para implorar ao rei a respeito de sua casa e de sua terra. Giezi exclamou: Ó rei, meu senhor! Eis a mulher com o filho que Eliseu ressuscitou.	5 Just as he was relating to the king how his master had restored a dead person to life, the very woman whose son Elisha had restored to life came to the king to claim her house and field. "My lord king," Gehazi said, "this is the woman, and this is that son of hers whom Elisha restored to life."
6 O rei interrogou a mulher, e esta narrou-lhe o acontecido. Então o rei fê-la acompanhar por um eunuco com a seguinte ordem: Faze-lhe restituir tudo o que lhe pertence, assim como todos os rendimentos de sua terra, desde o dia em que ela a deixou até o dia de hoje.	6 The king questioned the woman, and she told him her story. With that the king placed an official at her disposal, saying, "Restore all her property to her, with all that the field produced from the day she left the land until now."
7 Eliseu foi a Damasco. Ben-Hadad, rei da Síria, estava doente. Avisaram-no, dizendo: O homem de Deus está aqui.	7 Elisha came to Damascus at a time when Ben-hadad, king of Aram, lay sick. When he was told that the man of God had come there,
8 Disse então o rei a Hazael: Toma contigo um presente e vai ao encontro do homem de Deus. Consultarás o Senhor, por seu intermédio, se sairei vivo desta enfermidade.	8 the king said to Hazael, "Take a gift with you and go call on the man of God. Have him consult the LORD as to whether I shall recover from this sickness."
9 Hazael partiu e foi ao encontro do homem de Deus, levando consigo presentes, o que havia de melhor em Damasco, em quarenta camelos carregados. Chegando aonde ele estava, disse-lhe: Teu filho Ben-Hadad, rei da Síria, mandou-me ter contigo para perguntar-te se sairá vivo de sua enfermidade.	9 Hazael went to visit him, carrying a present, and with forty camel loads of the best goods of Damascus. On his arrival, he stood before the prophet and said, "Your son Ben-hadad, king of Aram, has sent me to ask you whether he will recover from his sickness."
10 Eliseu respondeu-lhe: Vai e dize-lhe que ele será certamente curado. Mas o Senhor revelou-me que ele morrerá.	10 "Go and tell him," Elisha answered, "that he will surely recover. However, the LORD has showed me that he will in fact die."
11 Depois o homem de Deus olhou-o fixamente, de modo que Hazael se sentiu perturbado; e o homem de Deus pôs-se a chorar.	11 Then he stared him down until Hazael became ill at ease. The man of God wept,
12 Por que chora o meu senhor?, perguntou Hazael. Ele respondeu: Porque sei os males que farás aos israelitas: incendiarás as suas cidades fortes, passarás ao fio da espada os seus jovens, esmagarás as suas crianças e rasgarás pelo meio o ventre de suas mulheres grávidas.	12 and Hazael asked, "Why are you weeping, my lord?" Elisha replied, "Because I know the evil that you will inflict upon the Israelites. You will burn their fortresses, you will slay their youth with the sword, you will dash their little children to pieces, you will rip open their pregnant women."
13 Será o teu servo porventura um cão, disse-lhe Hazael, para fazer tais coisas? Eliseu respondeu: O Senhor mostrou-me numa visão que serás rei da Síria.	13 Hazael exclaimed, "How can a dog like me, your servant, do anything so important?" "The LORD has showed you to me as king over Aram," replied Elisha.
14 Deixando Eliseu, voltou Hazael para junto de seu amo, o qual lhe perguntou: Que te disse Eliseu? Disse-me, respondeu ele, que serás certamente curado.	14 Hazael left Elisha and returned to his master. "What did Elisha tell you?" asked Ben-hadad. "He told me that you would surely recover," replied Hazael.
15 No dia seguinte, {Hazael} tomou uma cobertura, molhou-a em água e aplicou-a sobre o rosto do rei, e este morreu. E Hazael sucedeu-lhe no trono.	15 The next day, however, Hazael took a cloth, dipped it in water, and spread it over the king's face, so that he died. And Hazael reigned in his stead.
16 No quinto ano de Jorão, filho de Acab, rei de Israel, Jorão, filho de Josafá, tornou-se rei de Judá.	16 In the fifth year of Joram, son of Ahab, king of Israel, Jehoram, son of Jehoshaphat, king of Judah, became king.
17 Tinha trinta e dois anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou oito anos em Jerusalém.	17 He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
18 Andou pelos caminhos dos reis de Israel, como fizera a casa de Acab, cuja filha desposou. E fez o mal aos olhos do Senhor.	18 He conducted himself like the kings of Israel of the line of Ahab, since the sister of Ahab was his wife; and he did evil in the LORD'S sight.
19 Apesar disso, o Senhor não quis destruir a casa de Judá, por causa de Davi, seu servo, a quem prometera conservar sempre uma lâmpada na sua descendência.	19 Even so, the LORD was unwilling to destroy Judah, because of his servant David. For he had promised David that he would leave him a lamp in the LORD'S presence for all time.
20 No tempo de Jorão, os edomitas sacudiram o jugo de Judá e constituíram um rei para si.	20 During Jehoram's reign, Edom revolted against the sovereignty of Judah and chose a king of its own.
21 Jorão foi a Seira com todos os seus carros, e, durante a noite, feriu os edomitas que o tinham cercado; e os chefes dos carros com as tropas fugiram para as suas tendas.	21 Thereupon Jehoram with all his chariots crossed over to Zair. He arose by night and broke through the Edomites when they had surrounded him and the commanders of his chariots. Then his army fled homeward.
22 E assim Edom sacudiu o jugo de Judá até o dia de hoje. Naquele mesmo tempo, Libna libertou-se igualmente.	22 To this day Edom has been in revolt against the rule of Judah. Libnah also revolted at that time.
23 Os outros atos e grandes feitos de Jorão estão consignados no livro das Crônicas dos reis de Judá.	23 The rest of the acts of Jehoram, with all that he did, are recorded in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah.
24 Jorão adormeceu com os seus pais e foi sepultado junto deles na cidade de Davi. Seu filho Ocozias sucedeu-lhe no trono.	24 Jehoram rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David. His son Ahaziah succeeded him as king.
25 No décimo segundo ano de Jorão, filho de Acab, rei de Israel, Ocozias, filho de Jorão, tornou-se rei de Judá.	25 Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, king of Judah, became king in the twelfth year of Joram, son of Ahab, king of Israel.
26 Ocozias tinha vinte e dois anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou um ano em Jerusalém. Sua mãe chamava-se Atalia, e era filha {neta} de Amri, rei de Israel.	26 He was twenty-two years old when he began his reign, and he reigned one year in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Athaliah; she was daughter of Omri, king of Israel.
27 Andou nos caminhos da casa de Acab e fez o mal aos olhos do Senhor, como a casa de Acab, porque lhe era aliado.	27 He conducted himself like the house of Ahab, doing evil in the LORD'S sight as they did, since he was related to them by marriage.
28 Saiu com Jorão, filho de Acab, a combater Hazael, rei da Síria, em Ramot de Galaad, e foi ferido pelos sírios.	28 He joined Joram, son of Ahab, in battle against Hazael, king of Aram, at Ramoth-gilead, where the Arameans wounded Joram.
29 E voltou então a Jezrael para se curar dos ferimentos recebidos dos sírios no combate contra Hazael, rei da Síria. Ocozias, filho de Jorão, rei de Judá, desceu a Jezrael para visitar Jorão, filho de Acab, que estava enfermo.	29 King Joram returned to Jezreel to be healed of the wounds which the Arameans had inflicted on him at Ramah in his battle against Hazael, king of Aram. Then Ahaziah, son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to Jezreel to visit him there in his illness.
