1 No princípio, Deus criou os céus e a terra.	1 In the beginning, God created heaven and earth.
2 A terra estava informe e vazia; as trevas cobriam o abismo e o Espírito de Deus pairava sobre as águas.	2 But the earth was empty and unoccupied, and darknesses were over the face of the abyss; and so the Spirit of God was brought over the waters.
3 Deus disse: "Faça-se a luz!" E a luz foi feita.	3 And God said, “Let there be light.” And light became.
4 Deus viu que a luz era boa, e separou a luz das trevas.	4 And God saw the light, that it was good; and so he divided the light from the darknesses.
5 Deus chamou à luz DIA, e às trevas NOITE. Sobreveio a tarde e depois a manhã: foi o primeiro dia.	5 And he called the light, ‘Day,’ and the darknesses, ‘Night.’ And it became evening and morning, one day.
6 Deus disse: "Faça-se um firmamento entre as águas, e separe ele umas das outras".	6 God also said, “Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide waters from waters.”
7 Deus fez o firmamento e separou as águas que estavam debaixo do firmamento daquelas que estavam por cima.	7 And God made a firmament, and he divided the waters that were under the firmament, from those that were above the firmament. And so it became.
8 E assim se fez. Deus chamou ao firmamento CÉUS. Sobreveio a tarde e depois a manhã: foi o segundo dia.	8 And God called the firmament ‘Heaven.’ And it became evening and morning, the second day.
9 Deus disse: "Que as águas que estão debaixo dos céus se ajuntem num mesmo lugar, e apareça o elemento árido." E assim se fez.	9 Truly God said: “Let the waters that are under heaven be gathered together into one place; and let the dry land appear.” And so it became.
10 Deus chamou ao elemento árido TERRA, e ao ajuntamento das águas MAR. E Deus viu que isso era bom.	10 And God called the dry land, ‘Earth,’ and he called the gathering of the waters, ‘Seas.’ And God saw that it was good.
11 Deus disse: "Produza a terra plantas, ervas que contenham semente e árvores frutíferas que dêem fruto segundo a sua espécie e o fruto contenha a sua semente." E assim foi feito.	11 And he said, “Let the land spring forth green plants, both those producing seed, and fruit-bearing trees, producing fruit according to their kind, whose seed is within itself, over all the earth.” And so it became.
12 A terra produziu plantas, ervas que contêm semente segundo a sua espécie, e árvores que produzem fruto segundo a sua espécie, contendo o fruto a sua semente. E Deus viu que isso era bom.	12 And the land brought forth green plants, both those producing seed, according to their kind, and trees producing fruit, with each having its own way of sowing, according to its species. And God saw that it was good.
13 Sobreveio a tarde e depois a manhã: foi o terceiro dia.	13 And it became evening and the morning, the third day.
14 Deus disse: "Façam-se luzeiros no firmamento dos céus para separar o dia da noite; sirvam eles de sinais e marquem o tempo, os dias e os anos,	14 Then God said: “Let there be lights in the firmament of heaven. And let them divide day from night, and let them become signs, both of the seasons, and of the days and years.
15 e resplandeçam no firmamento dos céus para iluminar a terra". E assim se fez.	15 Let them shine in the firmament of heaven and illuminate the earth.” And so it became.
16 Deus fez os dois grandes luzeiros: o maior para presidir ao dia, e o menor para presidir à noite; e fez também as estrelas.	16 And God made two great lights: a greater light, to rule over the day, and a lesser light, to rule over the night, along with the stars.
17 Deus colocou-os no firmamento dos céus para que iluminassem a terra,	17 And he set them in the firmament of heaven, to give light over all the earth,
18 presidissem ao dia e à noite, e separassem a luz das trevas. E Deus viu que isso era bom.	18 and to rule over the day as well as the night, and to divide light from darkness. And God saw that it was good.
19 Sobreveio a tarde e depois a manhã: foi o quarto dia.	19 And it became evening and morning, the fourth day.
20 Deus disse: "Pululem as águas de uma multidão de seres vivos, e voem aves sobre a terra, debaixo do firmamento dos céus."	20 And then God said, “Let the waters produce animals with a living soul, and flying creatures above the earth, under the firmament of heaven.”
21 Deus criou os monstros marinhos e toda a multidão de seres vivos que enchem as águas, segundo a sua espécie, e todas as aves segundo a sua espécie. E Deus viu que isso era bom.	21 And God created the great sea creatures, and everything with a living soul and the ability to move that the waters produced, according to their species, and all the flying creatures, according to their kind. And God saw that it was good.
22 E Deus os abençoou: "Frutificai, disse ele, e multiplicai-vos, e enchei as águas do mar, e que as aves se multipliquem sobre a terra."	22 And he blessed them, saying: “Increase and multiply, and fill the waters of the sea. And let the birds be multiplied above the land.”
23 Sobreveio a tarde e depois a manhã: foi o quinto dia.	23 And it became evening and morning, the fifth day.
24 Deus disse: "Produza a terra seres vivos segundo a sua espécie: animais domésticos, répteis e animais selvagens, segundo a sua espécie." E assim se fez.	24 God also said, “Let the land produce living souls in their kind: cattle, and animals, and wild beasts of the earth, according to their species.” And so it became.
25 Deus fez os animais selvagens segundo a sua espécie, os animais domésticos igualmente, e da mesma forma todos os animais, que se arrastam sobre a terra. E Deus viu que isso era bom.	25 And God made the wild beasts of the earth according to their species, and the cattle, and every animal on the land, according to its kind. And God saw that it was good.
26 Então Deus disse: "Façamos o homem à nossa imagem e semelhança. Que ele reine sobre os peixes do mar, sobre as aves dos céus, sobre os animais domésticos e sobre toda a terra, e sobre todos os répteis que se arrastem sobre a terra."	26 And he said: “Let us make Man to our image and likeness. And let him rule over the fish of the sea, and the flying creatures of the air, and the wild beasts, and the entire earth, and every animal that moves on the earth.”
27 Deus criou o homem à sua imagem; criou-o à imagem de Deus, criou o homem e a mulher.	27 And God created man to his own image; to the image of God he created him; male and female, he created them.
28 Deus os abençoou: "Frutificai, disse ele, e multiplicai-vos, enchei a terra e submetei-a. Dominai sobre os peixes do mar, sobre as aves dos céus e sobre todos os animais que se arrastam sobre a terra."	28 And God blessed them, and he said, “Increase and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and the flying creatures of the air, and over every living thing that moves upon the earth.”
29 Deus disse: "Eis que eu vos dou toda a erva que dá semente sobre a terra, e todas as árvores frutíferas que contêm em si mesmas a sua semente, para que vos sirvam de alimento.	29 And God said: “Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing plant upon the earth, and all the trees that have in themselves the ability to sow their own kind, to be food for you,
30 E a todos os animais da terra, a todas as aves dos céus, a tudo o que se arrasta sobre a terra, e em que haja sopro de vida, eu dou toda erva verde por alimento." E assim se fez.	30 and for all the animals of the land, and for all the flying things of the air, and for everything that moves upon the earth and in which there is a living soul, so that they may have these on which to feed.” And so it became.
31 Deus contemplou toda a sua obra, e viu que tudo era muito bom. Sobreveio a tarde e depois a manhã: foi o sexto dia.	31 And God saw everything that he had made. And they were very good. And it became evening and morning, the sixth day.
