LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Salmo. Di Asaf. Di certo, Dio è buono con i retti, il Signore con i puri di cuore.	1 [Psalm Of Asaph] Indeed God is good to Israel, the Lord to those who are pure of heart.
2 Per poco non inciampavano i miei piedi, per un nulla vacillavano i miei passi:	2 My feet were on the point of stumbling, a little more and I had slipped,
3 infatti avevo preso ad invidiare i prepotenti, a osservare la prosperità dei malvagi.	3 envying the arrogant as I did, and seeing the prosperity of the wicked.
4 Per essi non c'è sofferenza, sano e ben nutrito è il loro ventre;	4 For them no such thing as pain, untroubled, their comfortable portliness;
5 non si trovano nei travagli dei mortali e non vengono colpiti come tutti gli altri uomini.	5 exempt from the cares which are the human lot, they have no part in Adam's afflictions.
6 Al contrario, quale collana li circonda l'orgoglio, quale vestito li ricopre la violenza;	6 So pride is a necklace to them, violence the garment they wear.
7 come da grasso esce la loro iniquità, traboccano i perversi pensieri del loro cuore.	7 From their fat oozes out malice, their hearts drip with cunning.
8 Sogghignano, parlano con malizia, con prepotenza fanno minacce dall'alto;	8 Cynical y they advocate evil, loftily they advocate force.
9 levano la loro bocca fino ai cieli e la loro lingua percorre la terra.	9 Their mouth claims heaven for themselves, and their tongue is never stil on earth.
10 Perciò siedono in alto e la piena delle acque non li raggiunge,	10 That is why my people turn to them, and enjoy the waters of plenty,
11 e dicono: "Che cosa ne sa Dio? C'è forse conoscenza nell'Altissimo?".	11 saying, 'How can God know? What knowledge can the Most High have?'
12 Ecco chi sono gli empi: eternamente tranquilli, non fanno che accrescere la loro potenza.	12 That is what the wicked are like, piling up wealth without any worries.
13 Invano allora ho conservato puro il mio cuore, e nell'innocenza ho lavato le mie mani.	13 Was it useless, then, to have kept my own heart clean, to have washed my hands in innocence?
14 Perciò sono rimasto colpito tutto il giorno e castigato ogni mattina.	14 When I was under a hail of blows al day long, and punished every morning,
15 Stavo quasi per dire: "Voglio parlare come loro". Ma avrei rinnegato così la generazione dei tuoi figli.	15 had I said, 'I shal talk like them,' I should have betrayed your children's race.
16 Io penso dunque a questo enigma ma è troppo complicato per i miei occhi.	16 So I set myself to understand this: how difficult I found it!
17 Finché non entrai nel santuario di Dio e compresi qual era la loro fine.	17 Until I went into the sanctuaries of the gods and understood what was destined to become of them.
18 Di certo, tu li poni su terreno sdrucciolevole e così li fai cadere in rovina.	18 You place them on a slippery slope and drive them down into chaos.
19 Come si sono ridotti in macerie in un istante! Sono venuti meno, disfatti dal terrore!	19 How sudden their hideous destruction! They are swept away, annihilated by terror!
20 Come un sogno al risveglio, o Signore, al tuo sorgere fai svanire la loro figura.	20 Like a dream upon waking, Lord, when you awake, you dismiss their image.
21 Sì, s'inaspriva il mio cuore, rimanevano trafitti i miei reni,	21 My heart grew embittered, my affections dried up,
22 essendo io stolto, ignorante, un vero animale davanti a te.	22 I was stupid and uncomprehending, a clumsy animal in your presence.
23 Eppure io sono sempre con te; tu mi hai preso per la mia destra.	23 Even so, I stayed in your presence, you grasped me by the right hand;
24 Con il tuo consiglio mi guidi, e poi nella gloria tu mi prendi.	24 you will guide me with advice, and wil draw me in the wake of your glory.
25 Chi ho io nei cieli? Fuori di te, nessun altro io bramo sulla terra.	25 Who else is there for me in heaven? And, with you, I lack nothing on earth.
26 Può venir meno la mia carne e anche il mio cuore, roccia del mio cuore e mia porzione è Dio in eterno!	26 My heart and my flesh are pining away: my heart's rock, my portion, God for ever!
27 Poiché ecco: quelli che s'allontanano da te periscono; tu distruggi chi si mostra a te infedele.	27 Truly, those who abandon you will perish; you destroy those who adulterously desert you,
28 Quanto a me, il mio bene è star solo vicino a Dio. Nel Signore Dio ho posto il mio rifugio, perché possa narrare tutte le sue gesta.	28 whereas my happiness is to be near God. I have made the Lord Yahweh my refuge, to tel of al yourworks.
