1 Trascorsero tre anni senza che ci fosse guerra tra Aram e Israele.	1 Three years passed without war between Aram and Israel.
2 Il terzo anno Giosafat, re di Giuda, scese dal re d'Israele.	2 In the third year, however, King Jehoshaphat of Judah came down to the king of Israel,

Giosafat rispose al re d'Israele: "Conta su me come su te, sul mio popolo come sul tuo, sui miei cavalli come sui tuoi!".	4 He asked Jehoshaphat, "Will you come with me to fight against Ramoth-gilead?" Jehoshaphat answered the king of Israel, "You and I are as one, and your people and my people, your horses and my horses as well."

"Go up," they answered. "The LORD will deliver it over to the king."
7 Allora Giosafat domandò: "Non v'è nessun altro profeta del Signore, perché possiamo consultarlo per mezzo suo?".	7 But Jehoshaphat said, "Is there no other prophet of the LORD here whom we may consult?"
8 Il re di Israele rispose a Giosafat: "V'è ancora un uomo adatto per consultare il Signore, ma io lo detesto, perché non mi profetizza mai cose buone, ma solo cattive; è Michea, figlio di Imla". Giosafat replicò: "Il re non dica queste cose!".	8 The king of Israel answered, "There is one other through whom we might consult the LORD, Micaiah, son of Imlah; but I hate him because he prophesies not good but evil about me." Jehoshaphat said, "Let not your majesty speak of evil against you."
9 Allora il re d'Israele chiamò un eunuco e gli disse: "Fa' venire subito Michea, figlio di Imla".	9 So the king of Israel called an official and said to him, "Get Micaiah, son of Imlah, at once."

12 Tutti i profeti profetavano allo stesso modo: "Sali a Ramot di Gàlaad e avrai successo perché il Signore la darà in mano al re!".	12 The other prophets prophesied in a similar vein, saying: "Go up to Ramoth-gilead; you shall succeed. The LORD will deliver it over to the king."

Let your word be the same as any of theirs; predict good."
14 Michea rispose: "Com'è vero che vive il Signore, quello che il Signore mi dirà, io lo annuncerò!".	14 "As the LORD lives," Micaiah answered, "I shall say whatever the LORD tells me."

Egli rispose: "Sali pure, perché avrai successo e il Signore ti darà in mano il re".	15 When he came to the king, the king said to him, "Micaiah, shall we go to fight against Ramoth-gilead, or shall we refrain?" "Go up," he answered, "you shall succeed! The LORD will deliver it over to the king."
16 Ma il re gli replicò: "Quante volte dovrò supplicarti di non dirmi che la verità in nome del Signore?".	16 But the king answered him, "How many times must I adjure you to tell me nothing but the truth in the name of the LORD?"

Il Signore dice: "Essi non hanno più padroni e perciò ciascuno se ne torni a casa in pace".	17 So Micaiah said: "I see all Israel scattered on the mountains, like sheep without a shepherd, and the LORD saying, 'These have no master! Let each of them go back home in peace.'"
18 Il re d'Israele disse a Giosafat: "Non ti avevo detto che costui non mi avrebbe profetato del bene bensì del male?".	18 The king of Israel said to Jehoshaphat, "Did I not tell you he prophesies not good but evil about me?"
19 Il profeta però riprese: "Ascolta la parola del Signore: ho visto il Signore assiso in trono, mentre l'intera schiera celeste stava alla sua presenza, alla sua destra e alla sua sinistra.	19 Micaiah continued: "Therefore hear the word of the LORD: I saw the LORD seated on his throne, with the whole host of heaven standing by to his right and to his left.
20 Il Signore domandò: "Chi sedurrà Acab perché salga e perisca a Ramot di Gàlaad?". Chi rispondeva in un modo, chi in un altro.	20 The LORD asked, 'Who will deceive Ahab, so that he will go up and fall at Ramoth-gilead?' And one said this, another that,

Il Signore gli disse: "Certo riuscirai a sedurlo, va' e fa' così!".	22 He answered, 'I will go forth and become a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets.' The LORD replied, 'You shall succeed in deceiving him. Go forth and do this.'
23 Ecco quindi che il Signore ha posto uno spirito di menzogna in bocca di tutti questi tuoi profeti, perché il Signore ha stabilito del male a tuo riguardo".	23 So now, the LORD has put a lying spirit in the mouths of all these prophets of yours, but the LORD himself has decreed evil against you."
24 Allora Sedecia figlio di Chenaana s'avvicinò e colpì Michea sulla guancia dicendo: "Come mai lo spirito del Signore s'è allontanato da me per parlare con te?".	24 Thereupon Zedekiah, son of Chenaanah, came up and slapped Micaiah on the cheek, saying, "Has the spirit of the LORD, then, left me to speak with you?"
25 Michea rispose: "Ecco, lo vedrai tu stesso in quel giorno in cui correrai di stanza in stanza per nasconderti".	25 "You shall find out," Micaiah replied, "on that day when you retreat into an inside room to hide."

So the king of Israel disguised himself and entered the fray.
31 Ora il re di Aram aveva ordinato ai trentadue comandanti dei carri: "Non combattete contro nessuno, piccolo o grande, ma solo contro il re d'Israele".	31 In the meantime the king of Aram had given his thirty-two chariot commanders the order, "Do not fight with anyone at all except the king of Israel."

E si rivolsero verso di lui per investirlo; ma Giosafat lanciò un grido.	32 When the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they cried out, "That must be the king of Israel!" and shifted to fight him. But Jehoshaphat shouted his battle cry,
33 Come i comandanti dei carri videro che non era il re d'Israele, s'allontanarono da lui.	33 and the chariot commanders, aware that he was not the king of Israel, gave up pursuit of him.
34 Un uomo scoccò a caso il suo arco e colpì il re d'Israele tra il corsetto e le maglie della corazza. Allora questi ordinò al suo carrista: "Volta e fammi uscire dalla mischia perché mi sento male".	34 Someone, however, drew his bow at random, and hit the king of Israel between the joints of his breastplate. He ordered his charioteer, "Rein about and take me out of the ranks, for I am disabled."
35 La battaglia divenne più violenta in quel giorno, cosicché il re se ne stette ritto sul suo carro di fronte agli Aramei e morì verso sera. Il sangue della ferita colò nel fondo del carro.	35 The battle grew fierce during the day, and the king, who was propped up in his chariot facing the Arameans, died in the evening. The blood from his wound flowed to the bottom of the chariot.
36 Al calar del sole un grido si sparse per l'accampamento: "Ognuno alla sua città e ognuno al suo paese!	36 At sunset a cry went through the army, "Every man to his city, every man to his land,
37 E' morto il re!". Tornarono a Samaria e vi seppellirono il re.	37 for the king is dead!" So they went to Samaria, where they buried the king.
38 Il carro fu lavato nella piscina di Samaria, dove si lavavano le prostitute, e i cani leccarono il suo sangue secondo la parola che il Signore aveva pronunciato.	38 When the chariot was washed at the pool of Samaria, the dogs licked up his blood and harlots bathed there, as the LORD had prophesied.

40 Acab si addormentò con i suoi antenati e suo figlio Acazia regnò al suo posto.	40 Ahab rested with his ancestors, and his son Ahaziah succeeded him as king.
