1 Now it happened that, when the crowds pressed toward him, so that they might hear the word of God, he was standing beside the lake of Genesaret.	1 Un giorno, mentre si trovava sulla riva del lago di Genèsaret e la folla gli faceva ressa intorno e ascoltava la parola di Dio,
2 And he saw two boats standing beside the lake. But the fishermen had climbed down, and they were washing their nets.	2 egli vide due barche vuote sulla riva. I pescatori erano scesi e stavano lavando le loro reti.
3 And so, climbing into one of the boats, which belonged to Simon, he asked him to draw back a little from the land. And sitting down, he taught the crowds from the boat.	3 Salì su una di quelle barche, quella che apparteneva a Simone, e pregò questi di allontanarsi un po' dalla riva. 4 Then, when he had ceased speaking, he said to Simon, “Lead us into deep water, and release your nets for a catch.”	4 Quando ebbe finito di parlare, disse a Simone: "Prendi il largo e insieme ai tuoi compagni getta le reti per la pesca".
5 And in response, Simon said to him: “Teacher, working throughout the night, we caught nothing. But on your word, I will release the net.”	5 Simone gli rispose: "Maestro, abbiamo faticato tutta la notte senza prendere neppure un pesce; però, sulla tua parola, getterò le reti".
6 And when they had done this, they enclosed such a copious multitude of fish that their net was rupturing.	6 Gettatele, presero subito una tale quantità di pesci che le loro reti si rompevano.
7 And they signaled to their associates, who were in the other boat, so that they would come and help them. And they came and filled both boats, so that they were nearly submerged.	7 Allora chiamarono i compagni dell'altra barca perché venissero ad aiutarli. 8 But when Simon Peter had seen this, he fell down at the knees of Jesus, saying, “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.”	8 Vedendo questo, Pietro si gettò ai piedi di Gesù dicendo: "Allontànati da me, Signore, perché io sono un peccatore".
9 For astonishment had enveloped him, and all who were with him, at the catch of fish that they had taken.	9 Infatti Pietro e tutti quelli che erano con lui furono presi da grande stupore per la gran quantità di pesci che avevano pescato.
10 Now the same was true of James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were associates of Simon. And Jesus said to Simon: “Do not be afraid. From now on, you will be catching men.”	10 Lo stesso capitò a Giacomo e Giovanni, figli di Zebedeo, che erano compagni di Simone. E Gesù disse a Simone: "Non temere: da questo momento sarai pescatore di uomini".
11 And having led their boats to land, leaving behind everything, they followed him.	11 Allora essi, riportate le barche a terra, abbandonando tutto lo seguirono.
12 And it happened that, while he was in a certain city, behold, there was a man full of leprosy who, upon seeing Jesus and falling to his face, petitioned him, saying: “Lord, if you are willing, you are able to cleanse me.”	12 Un giorno, mentre si trovava in una città, un lebbroso gli si fece incontro e, appena lo vide, gli si gettò ai piedi e lo supplicò dicendo: "Signore, se vuoi, puoi guarirmi".
13 And extending his hand, he touched him, saying: “I am willing. Be cleansed.” And at once, the leprosy departed from him.	13 Gesù lo toccò con la mano e gli disse: "Lo voglio, sii guarito". Subito la lebbra sparì.
14 And he instructed him that he should tell no one, “But go, show yourself to the priest, and make the offering for your cleansing, just as Moses has commanded, as a testimony for them.”	14 Gli ordinò di non dirlo a nessuno: "Rècati, invece, dal sacerdote e mostrati a lui. Poi fa' l'offerta del sacrificio, come Mosè ha stabilito, perché diventi per loro un segno".
15 Yet word of him traveled around all the more. And great crowds came together, so that they might listen and be cured by him from their infirmities.	15 La sua fama si diffondeva sempre di più; molta gente si radunava per ascoltarlo e farsi guarire dalle malattie.
16 And he withdrew into the desert and prayed.	16 Ma Gesù si ritirava in luoghi deserti e pregava.
17 And it happened, on a certain day, that he again sat down, teaching. And there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting nearby, who had come from every town of Galilee and Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present, to heal them.	17 Un giorno sedeva insegnando. Stavano seduti anche farisei e dottori della legge, che erano venuti da molti villaggi della Galilea, della Giudea e da Gerusalemme. E la potenza del Signore gli faceva operare guarigioni.
18 And behold, some men were carrying in the bed of a man who was paralyzed. And they sought a way to bring him in, and to place him before him.	18 Alcune persone intanto, portando su di un letto un uomo che era paralitico, cercavano di farlo passare e di metterlo davanti a lui.
19 And not finding a way by which they might bring him in, because of the crowd, they climbed up to the roof, and they let him down through the roof tiles with his bed, into their midst, in front of Jesus.	19 Ma non riuscendo a introdurlo a causa della folla, salirono sul tetto e attraverso le tegole lo calarono giù con il lettuccio, proprio in mezzo dove si trovava Gesù.
20 And when he saw his faith, he said, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.”	20 Vedendo la loro fede, Gesù disse: "Uomo, ti sono rimessi i tuoi peccati".
21 And the scribes and Pharisees began to think, saying: “Who is this, who is speaking blasphemies? Who is able to forgive sins, except God alone?”	21 I dottori della legge e i farisei cominciarono a discutere dicendo: "Chi è costui che osa parlare così contro Dio? Chi può rimettere i peccati se non Dio soltanto?".
22 But when Jesus realized their thoughts, responding, he said to them: “What are you thinking in your hearts?	22 Gesù, conosciuti i loro ragionamenti, rispose: "Perché ragionate così dentro di voi?
23 Which is easier to say: ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise up and walk?’	23 E' più facile dire: "Ti sono rimessi i tuoi peccati", oppure: "A'lzati e cammina"?
24 But so that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins,” he said to the paralytic, “I say to you to: Rise up, take up your bed, and go into your house.”	24 Ebbene, perché sappiate che il Figlio dell'uomo ha il potere sulla terra di rimettere i peccati", si rivolse al paralitico, dicendo: "Ti dico: àlzati, prendi il tuo lettuccio e va' a casa tua".
25 And at once, rising up in their sight, he took up the bed on which he was lying, and he went away to his own house, magnifying God.	25 All'istante quell'uomo si alzò davanti a loro, prese il lettuccio su cui giaceva e andò a casa sua, rendendo grazie a Dio.
26 And astonishment took hold of everyone, and they were magnifying God. And they were filled with fear, saying: “For we have seen miracles today.”	26 Tutti furono pieni di stupore e innalzavano lode a Dio. Presi da timore, dicevano: "Oggi abbiamo visto cose meravigliose".
27 And after these things, he went out, and he saw a tax collector named Levi, sitting at the customs office. And he said to him, “Follow me.”	27 Dopo questo Gesù uscì e vide un pubblicano di nome Levi seduto al banco delle imposte, e gli disse: "Séguimi".
28 And leaving behind everything, rising up, he followed him.	28 Allora, lasciando ogni cosa, si alzò e lo seguì.
29 And Levi made a great feast for him in his own house. And there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others, who were sitting at table with them.	29 Poi Levi gli preparò un grande banchetto in casa sua. C'era un gran numero di pubblicani e di altra gente seduta a tavola con loro.
30 But the Pharisees and scribes were murmuring, saying to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”	30 I farisei e i dottori della legge mormoravano e dicevano ai discepoli di Gesù: "Perché mangiate e bevete con i pubblicani e i peccatori?".
31 And responding, Jesus said to them: “It is not those who are well who need a doctor, but those who have maladies.	31 Rispose Gesù: "Le persone sane non hanno bisogno del medico; sono i malati invece ad averne bisogno.
32 I have not come to call the just, but sinners to repentance.”	32 Io non sono venuto a chiamare i giusti, ma i peccatori affinché si convertano".
33 But they said to him, “Why do the disciples of John fast frequently, and make supplications, and those of the Pharisees act similarly, while yours eat and drink?”	33 Gli dissero allora alcuni: "I discepoli di Giovanni digiunano spesso e vi aggiungono orazioni; così pure fanno i discepoli dei farisei. Invece i tuoi mangiano e bevono".
34 And he said to them: “How can you cause the sons of the groom to fast, while the groom is still with them?	34 Rispose Gesù: "Vi pare possibile far digiunare gl'invitati a nozze, mentre lo sposo è con loro?
35 But the days will come when the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast, in those days.”	35 Più tardi verrà il tempo in cui lo sposo sarà portato via da loro; allora faranno digiuno".
36 Then he also made a comparison for them: “For no one sews a patch from a new garment onto an old garment. Otherwise, he both disrupts the new one, and the patch from the new one does not join together with the old one.	36 Diceva loro anche una parabola: "Nessuno strappa un pezzo di un vestito nuovo per attaccarlo ad un vestito vecchio; altrimenti si trova con il vestito nuovo strappato e al vestito vecchio non si adatta il pezzo preso da quello nuovo.
37 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine ruptures the wineskins, and it will be poured out, and the wineskins will be lost.	37 E nessuno mette del vino nuovo in otri vecchi; altrimenti il vino nuovo fa scoppiare gli otri, si versa fuori e vanno perduti gli otri.
38 Instead, the new wine is put into new wineskins, and both are preserved.	38 Invece il vino nuovo si mette in otri nuovi.
39 And no one who is drinking the old, soon wishes for the new. For he says, ‘The old is better.’ ”	39 E nessuno chiede vino nuovo dopo aver bevuto quello vecchio, perché dice: "Il vecchio è migliore".
