1 Now it happened that, when the crowds pressed toward him, so that they might hear the word of God, he was standing beside the lake of Genesaret.	1 - Mentre intorno a lui la gente s'affollava per udire la parola di Dio, egli stava presso il lago di Genezaret;
2 And he saw two boats standing beside the lake. But the fishermen had climbed down, and they were washing their nets.	2 E vide ferme alla riva del lago due barche, dalle quali erano scesi i pescatori per lavare le reti.
3 And so, climbing into one of the boats, which belonged to Simon, he asked him to draw back a little from the land. And sitting down, he taught the crowds from the boat.	3 Egli salì su una di quelle barche, su quella di Simone, e lo pregò di scostarsi un po' da terra. E, seduto sulla barca, ammaestrava la folla.
4 Then, when he had ceased speaking, he said to Simon, “Lead us into deep water, and release your nets for a catch.”	4 Quando cessò di parlare, disse a Simone: «Prendi il largo, e calate le vostre reti per la pesca!».
5 And in response, Simon said to him: “Teacher, working throughout the night, we caught nothing. But on your word, I will release the net.”	5 Simone gli disse: «Maestro, noi abbiamo faticato tutta la notte e non abbiamo preso nulla; però sulla tua parola calerò la rete».
6 And when they had done this, they enclosed such a copious multitude of fish that their net was rupturing.	6 Ciò fatto, presero tanta quantità di pesce che si rompeva loro la rete.
7 And they signaled to their associates, who were in the other boat, so that they would come and help them. And they came and filled both boats, so that they were nearly submerged.	7 Allora fecero segno ai compagni dell'altra barca che venissero ad aiutarli. E vennero e riempirono tutt'e due le barche in modo che quasi affondavano.
8 But when Simon Peter had seen this, he fell down at the knees of Jesus, saying, “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.”	8 Ciò visto, Simon Pietro, si gettò ai ginocchi di Gesù e gli disse: «Allontanati da me, perchè son uomo peccatore».
9 For astonishment had enveloped him, and all who were with him, at the catch of fish that they had taken.	9 Infatti un senso di spavento aveva colpito lui e tutti quelli che eran con lui, per la pesca dei pesci che avevano fatto;
10 Now the same was true of James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were associates of Simon. And Jesus said to Simon: “Do not be afraid. From now on, you will be catching men.”	10 così pure Giacomo e Giovanni, figli di Zebedeo, compagni di Simone. E Gesù disse a Simone: «Non temere, d'ora innanzi tu sarai pescatore di uomini».
11 And having led their boats to land, leaving behind everything, they followed him.	11 Ed essi, tirate a riva le barche e abbandonata ogni cosa, lo seguirono.
12 And it happened that, while he was in a certain city, behold, there was a man full of leprosy who, upon seeing Jesus and falling to his face, petitioned him, saying: “Lord, if you are willing, you are able to cleanse me.”	12 Mente si trovava in una di quelle città, ecco un uomo coperto di lebbra, il quale, visto Gesù, si gettò bocconi per terra e lo pregò dicendo: «Signore, se vuoi, tu puoi mondarmi».
13 And extending his hand, he touched him, saying: “I am willing. Be cleansed.” And at once, the leprosy departed from him.	13 Ed egli stesa la mano, lo toccò, dicendo: «Lo voglio: sii mondato». E subito la lebbra sparì da lui.
14 And he instructed him that he should tell no one, “But go, show yourself to the priest, and make the offering for your cleansing, just as Moses has commanded, as a testimony for them.”	14 Ed egli comandò di non dirlo a nessuno: «Ma va'», gli disse: «Presentati al sacerdote ed offri per la tua purificazione quel che Mosè ha prescritto e questo serva loro per testimonianza».
15 Yet word of him traveled around all the more. And great crowds came together, so that they might listen and be cured by him from their infirmities.	15 Ma la fama di lui si diffondeva più che mai, ed accorrevano molte persone per sentirlo e per essere guarite dai loro mali.
16 And he withdrew into the desert and prayed.	16 Ma egli si ritirava in luoghi solitari e pregava.
17 And it happened, on a certain day, that he again sat down, teaching. And there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting nearby, who had come from every town of Galilee and Judea and Jerusalem. And the power of the Lord was present, to heal them.	17 Un giorno Gesù stava insegnando, mentre attorno a lui eran seduti i Farisei, i dottori della legge, venuti da ogni paese di Galilea e di Giudea e da Gerusalemme; e la potenza del Signore era quivi presente per compiere delle guarigioni.
18 And behold, some men were carrying in the bed of a man who was paralyzed. And they sought a way to bring him in, and to place him before him.	18 Ed ecco degli uomini, che portavano sopra un letticciuolo un paralitico e cercavano d'introdurlo per metterglielo dinanzi.
19 And not finding a way by which they might bring him in, because of the crowd, they climbed up to the roof, and they let him down through the roof tiles with his bed, into their midst, in front of Jesus.	19 Ma non potendo, a motivo della folla, trovar modo di introdurvelo, salirono sul tetto, e, fatta un'apertura tra le tegole, lo calarono giù in mezzo col letticciuolo, dinanzi a Gesù.
20 And when he saw his faith, he said, “Man, your sins are forgiven you.”	20 Vedendo la loro fede, disse: «Uomo, ti son rimessi i tuoi peccati».
21 And the scribes and Pharisees began to think, saying: “Who is this, who is speaking blasphemies? Who is able to forgive sins, except God alone?”	21 Allora gli Scribi e i Farisei cominciarono a pensare e dire: «Chi è costui che dice bestemmie? Chi può rimettere i peccati se non Dio solo?».
22 But when Jesus realized their thoughts, responding, he said to them: “What are you thinking in your hearts?	22 Gesù, conosciuti i loro pensieri, rispose così: «Cosa andate pensando nelle vostre menti?
23 Which is easier to say: ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Rise up and walk?’	23 Che cosa è più facile il dire: - Ti son rimessi i tuoi peccati, - oppure il dire: - Lèvati su e cammina - ?
24 But so that you may know that the Son of man has authority on earth to forgive sins,” he said to the paralytic, “I say to you to: Rise up, take up your bed, and go into your house.”	24 Ora, affinchè voi sappiate che il Figliuol dell'uomo ha sulla terra il potere di rimettere i peccati», disse al paralitico: «Dico a te, lèvati su, prendi il tuo letticciuolo e va' a casa tua».
25 And at once, rising up in their sight, he took up the bed on which he was lying, and he went away to his own house, magnifying God.	25 E alzatosi sull'atto, in lor presenza, prese il lettuccio dove giaceva e andò a casa sua, glorificando Iddio.
26 And astonishment took hold of everyone, and they were magnifying God. And they were filled with fear, saying: “For we have seen miracles today.”	26 E tutti furono presi da stupore e glorificavano Dio; e sbigottiti dicevano: «Oggi abbiamo veduto cose meravigliose».
27 And after these things, he went out, and he saw a tax collector named Levi, sitting at the customs office. And he said to him, “Follow me.”	27 Dopo queste cose, Gesù uscì e veduto un pubblicano, di nome Levi, che sedeva al banco, gli disse: «Seguimi».
28 And leaving behind everything, rising up, he followed him.	28 E colui, abbandonata ogni cosa, si alzò e lo seguì.
29 And Levi made a great feast for him in his own house. And there was a large crowd of tax collectors and others, who were sitting at table with them.	29 Levi gli fece un gran banchetto in casa sua, e c'era una gran folla di pubblicani e di altri che erano a tavola insieme.
30 But the Pharisees and scribes were murmuring, saying to his disciples, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?”	30 E i Farisei e i loro Scribi mormoravano e dicevano ai discepoli di lui: «Come mai mangiate e bevete coi pubblicani e coi peccatori?».
31 And responding, Jesus said to them: “It is not those who are well who need a doctor, but those who have maladies.	31 Gesù rispose loro: «Non hanno bisogno del medico i sani, ma i malati.
32 I have not come to call the just, but sinners to repentance.”	32 Io non son venuto a chiamare a penitenza i giusti, ma i peccatori».
33 But they said to him, “Why do the disciples of John fast frequently, and make supplications, and those of the Pharisees act similarly, while yours eat and drink?”	33 Quelli poi gli domandarono: «Per qual motivo i discepoli di Giovanni e quelli dei Farisei digiunano spesso e fan delle preghiere mentre i tuoi mangiano e bevono?».
34 And he said to them: “How can you cause the sons of the groom to fast, while the groom is still with them?	34 Gesù rispose loro: «Potete voi far digiunare gli amici dello sposo, mentre lo sposo è con essi?
35 But the days will come when the groom will be taken away from them, and then they will fast, in those days.”	35 Ma verrà giorno in cui lo sposo sarà tolto ad essi e allora, in quei giorni, digiuneranno».
36 Then he also made a comparison for them: “For no one sews a patch from a new garment onto an old garment. Otherwise, he both disrupts the new one, and the patch from the new one does not join together with the old one.	36 Poi portò loro un paragone: «Nessuno attacca a un vestito vecchio un pezzo di panno nuovo; altrimenti si strappa il nuovo e la giunta del nuovo non combina col vecchio.
37 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the new wine ruptures the wineskins, and it will be poured out, and the wineskins will be lost.	37 E nessuno mette vino nuovo in otri vecchi; altrimenti il nuovo rompe gli otri, si versa e gli otri vanno in malora.
38 Instead, the new wine is put into new wineskins, and both are preserved.	38 Ma il vino nuovo si deve mettere in otri nuovi, così si conserveranno l'uno e gli altri.
39 And no one who is drinking the old, soon wishes for the new. For he says, ‘The old is better.’ ”	39 E nessuno che beve vino vecchio, ne desidera del nuovo, perchè dice: - Il vecchio è migliore -».
