And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:
Speak to the sons of Israel, and you shall say to them: The man who will have made a vow and espoused his soul to God shall give the price according to the estimation.2 'Speak to the Israelites and say: "If anyone vows the value of a person to Yahweh and wishes todischarge the vow:
If it is a male from twenty years to sixty years, he shall give fifty shekels of silver, by the measure of the Sanctuary;3 "a man between twenty and sixty years of age wil be valued at fifty silver shekels -- the sanctuaryshekel;
if it is a woman, thirty.4 a woman wil be valued at thirty shekels;
But from the fifth year until the twentieth, a male shall give twenty shekels; a female, ten.5 "between five and twenty years, a boy wil be valued at twenty shekels, a girl at ten shekels;
From one month until the fifth year, for a male, five shekels shall be given; for a female, three.6 "between one month and five years, a boy wil be valued at five silver shekels, a girl at three silvershekels;
At sixty years and beyond, a male shall give fifteen shekels; a female, ten.7 "at sixty years and over, a man will be valued at fifteen shekels and a woman at ten shekels.
If he is poor, and he does not have the means to pay the estimation, he shall stand before the priest, and however much he will value him and see that he is able to pay, so much shall he give.8 "If the person who made the vow cannot meet this valuation, he wil present the person concerned tothe priest, and the priest wil set a value proportionate to the resources of the person who made the vow.
But an animal which could be immolated to the Lord, if anyone has vowed it, shall be holy,9 "In the case of an animal suitable for offering to Yahweh, any such animal given to Yahweh wil beholy.
and it cannot be exchanged, that is, neither better for worse, nor worse for better. And if he has exchanged it, both that which was exchanged, and that for which it was exchanged shall be consecrated to the Lord.10 It cannot be exchanged or replaced, a good one instead of a bad one, or a bad one instead of a goodone. If one animal is substituted for another, both of them wil become holy.
An unclean animal which could not be sacrificed to the Lord, if anyone has vowed it, shall be led before the priest,11 In the case of an unclean animal unsuitable for offering to Yahweh, whatever it may be, it will bepresented to the priest
who, judging whether it is either good or bad, shall set the price.12 and he wil set a value on it, in relation to its worth. His valuation will be decisive;
But if he who offers it was willing to give, he shall add a fifth part above the estimation.13 but if the person wishes to redeem it, he will add one-fifth to the valuation.
If a man has vowed his house, and he has sanctified it to the Lord, the priest shall examine it, whether it is good or bad, and it shall be sold according to the price which he will have established.14 "If a man consecrates his house to Yahweh, the priest wil set a value on it, in relation to its worth. Hisvaluation wil be decisive.
But if he who vowed it was willing to redeem it, he shall give a fifth part beyond the estimation, and he shall have the house.15 If the man who has vowed his house wishes to redeem it, he wil add one-fifth to the valuation, and itwil revert to him.
But if he has vowed a field of his possession, and has consecrated it to the Lord, the price shall be estimated according to the measure of the seed. If the land would be sown with thirty measures of barley, then let it be sold for fifty shekels of silver.16 "If a man consecrates one of the fields of his ancestral property to Yahweh, its value wil becalculated in terms of its yield, at the rate of fifty silver shekels to one homer of barley.
If he has vowed his field beginning from the current year of Jubilee, as much as it may be worth, so shall it be estimated.17 "If he consecrates the field during the jubilee year, he wil abide by this valuation.
But if, after some amount of time, the priest shall evaluate the money according to the number of years that remain until the Jubilee, then the price shall be reduced.18 But if he consecrates it after the jubilee, the priest wil calculate the price in terms of the number ofyears stil to run until the next jubilee and the valuation wil be reduced accordingly.
But if he who had vowed it, was willing to redeem his field, he shall add a fifth part of the money to the estimation, and then he shall possess it.19 "If he wishes to redeem the field, he wil add one-fifth to the valuation, and the field wil revert to him.
But if he is not willing to redeem it, then it shall be sold to any other; he who vowed it is no longer able to redeem it.20 If he does not redeem it but sel s it to someone else, the right of redemption ceases;
For when the day of Jubilee arrives, it shall be sanctified to the Lord. And as a possession that has been consecrated, it rightfully belongs to the priest.21 when the purchaser has to vacate it at the jubilee year, it becomes consecrated to Yahweh, like afield vowed unconditional y; ownership of it passes to the priest.
If a field has been bought, and it is not from the possession of ancestors, it shall be sanctified to the Lord.22 "If he consecrates to Yahweh a field which he has bought, but which is not part of his ancestralproperty,
The priest shall evaluate the price according to the number of years until the Jubilee; and the one who had vowed it shall give to the Lord.23 the priest wil calculate the valuation in terms of the number of years stil to run before the jubileeyear; and the man wil pay this sum the same day since it is consecrated to Yahweh.
Then, in the Jubilee, it shall be returned to the former owner, the one who had sold it and who had held it within the lot of his possession.24 In the jubilee year the field wil revert to the vendor, the man to whose ancestral property the landbelongs.
All estimation shall be weighed according to the shekel of the Sanctuary. A shekel has twenty obols.25 All your valuations will be made in sanctuary shekels, at the rate of twenty gerah to the shekel.
The firstborn, which belong to the Lord, no one is able to sanctify or vow, whether it is an ox, or a sheep, they are for the Lord.26 "The first-born of livestock is born to Yahweh; no one may consecrate it, whether it be cattle or sheep, for it belongs to Yahweh anyway.
But if it is an unclean animal, whoever offers it shall redeem it, according to your estimation, and he shall add a fifth part to the price. If he is not willing to redeem it, it shall be sold to another for whatever amount it was estimated by you.27 But if it is an unclean animal, it may be redeemed at the valuation price with one-fifth added; if theanimal is not redeemed, it wil be sold at the valuation price.
All that is consecrated to the Lord, whether it is a man, or an animal, or a field, shall not be sold; neither is it able to be redeemed. Anything, once it has been consecrated, shall be the Holy of holies to the Lord.28 "Nothing, however, that someone vows unconditional y to Yahweh may be redeemed, nothing hepossesses, be it a human being or animal or field of his ancestral property. What is vowed unconditional y isespecial y holy and belongs to Yahweh.
And all that has been consecrated, which is offered by man, shall not be redeemed, but shall surely die.29 A human being vowed unconditional y cannot be redeemed but wil be put to death.
All the tithes of the land, whether from the grain, or from the fruits of trees, are for the Lord and are sanctified to him.30 "Al tithes on land, levied on the produce of the soil or on the fruit of trees, belong to Yahweh; they areconsecrated to Yahweh.
But if anyone is willing to redeem his tithes, he shall add a fifth part to them.31 If anyone wishes to redeem part of his tithe, he will add one-fifth to its value.
Out of all the tithes of oxen, and sheep, and goats, which cross under the rod of the shepherd, every tenth one that arrives shall be sanctified to the Lord.32 "In al tithes on herds or flocks, the tenth animal of al that pass under the herdsman's staff wil beconsecrated to Yahweh;
It shall not be chosen by what is good or bad; neither shall it be exchanged for another. If anyone has exchanged it, both that which was exchanged, and that for which it was exchanged, shall be sanctified to the Lord and shall not be redeemed.33 there wil be no examining whether it is good or bad, and no substitution. If substitution takes place,the animal and its substitute wil both become holy without possibility of redemption." '
These are the precepts, which the Lord commanded Moses for the sons of Israel on mount Sinai.34 Such were the orders which Yahweh gave Moses on Mount Sinai for the Israelites.
