Love justice, you who judge the land. Think of the Lord in goodness and seek him in simplicity of heart.1 Love justice, you who judge the earth; think of the LORD in goodness, and seek him in integrity of heart;
For he is found by those who do not test him, yet he reveals himself to those who have faith in him.2 Because he is found by those who test him not, and he manifests himself to those who do not disbelieve him.
For perverse thoughts separate from God. But his virtue, when it is tested, corrects the foolish.3 For perverse counsels separate a man from God, and his power, put to the proof, rebukes the foolhardy;
For wisdom will not enter into a malicious soul, nor dwell in a body subdued by sin.4 Because into a soul that plots evil wisdom enters not, nor dwells she in a body under debt of sin.
For the holy spirit of instruction will flee from falsehood, and he will withdraw himself from thoughts that are without understanding, and he will not be reached when iniquity overcomes.5 For the holy spirit of discipline flees deceit and withdraws from senseless counsels; and when injustice occurs it is rebuked.
For the spirit of wisdom is benevolent, and will not release the evil speaker from his talk, because God is a witness of his temperament, and a true examiner of his heart, and an auditor of his words.6 For wisdom is a kindly spirit, yet she acquits not the blasphemer of his guilty lips; Because God is the witness of his inmost self and the sure observer of his heart and the listener to his tongue.
For the spirit of the Lord has filled the world, and he who contains all things, retains knowledge of every voice.7 For the spirit of the LORD fills the world, is all-embracing, and knows what man says.
Therefore, he who speaks unjust things cannot escape notice, nor will the chastising judgment pass him by.8 Therefore no one who utters wicked things can go unnoticed, nor will chastising condemnation pass him by.
For inquiry will be made into the thoughts of the impious, his conversation also will reach the hearing of God, to the chastising of his iniquities.9 For the devices of the wicked man shall be scrutinized, and the sound of his words shall reach the LORD, for the chastisement of his transgressions;
For the zealous ear hears all things, and the disturbance of complaining will not be hidden.10 Because a jealous ear hearkens to everything, and discordant grumblings are no secret.
Therefore, keep yourselves from complaining, which benefits nothing, and refrain your tongue from slander, because secret conversation will not pass into nothingness, and the mouth that deceives kills the soul.11 Therefore guard against profitless grumbling, and from calumny withhold your tongues; For a stealthy utterance does not go unpunished, and a lying mouth slays the soul.
Do not court death by the error of your life, nor procure your destruction by the works of your hands,12 Court not death by your erring way of life, nor draw to yourselves destruction by the works of your hands.
because God did not make death, nor does he rejoice in the loss of the living.13 Because God did not make death, nor does he rejoice in the destruction of the living.
For he created all things that they might exist, and he made the nations of the world curable, and there is no medicine of extermination in them, nor a kingdom of hell upon the earth.14 For he fashioned all things that they might have being; and the creatures of the world are wholesome, And there is not a destructive drug among them nor any domain of the nether world on earth,
For justice is perpetual and immortal.15 For justice is undying.
But the impious, with hands and words, have called death to them, and, esteeming it a friend, they have fallen away and have made a covenant with death, because they deserved to take part in it.16 It was the wicked who with hands and words invited death, considered it a friend, and pined for it, and made a covenant with it, Because they deserve to be in its possession,
