CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINKING JAMES BIBLE
A Canticle in steps. They have often fought against me from my youth, let Israel now say:1 Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways.
they have often fought against me from my youth, yet they could not prevail over me.2 For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.
The sinners have made fabrications behind my back. They have prolonged their iniquity.3 Thy wife shall be as a fruitful vine by the sides of thine house: thy children like olive plants round about thy table.
The just Lord will cut the necks of sinners.4 Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that feareth the LORD.
Let all those who hate Zion be confounded and turned backwards.5 The LORD shall bless thee out of Zion: and thou shalt see the good of Jerusalem all the days of thy life.
Let them be like grass on the rooftops, which withers before it can be pulled up:6 Yea, thou shalt see thy children's children, and peace upon Israel.
with it, he who reaps does not fill his hand and he who gathers sheaves does not fill his bosom.
And those who were passing by have not said to them: “The blessing of the Lord be upon you. We have blessed you in the name of the Lord.”
