1 A Canticle in steps. They have often fought against me from my youth, let Israel now say:	1 Cantico di Maalot. BEATO chiunque teme il Signore, E cammina nelle sue vie.
2 they have often fought against me from my youth, yet they could not prevail over me.	2 Perciocchè tu mangerai della fatica delle tue mani; Tu sarai beato, ed egli ti sarà bene.
3 The sinners have made fabrications behind my back. They have prolonged their iniquity.	3 La tua moglie sarà dentro della tua casa Come una vigna fruttifera; I tuoi figliuoli saranno d’intorno alla tua tavola, Come piante novelle di ulivi.
4 The just Lord will cut the necks of sinners.	4 Ecco, certamente così sarà benedetto L’uomo che teme il Signore.
5 Let all those who hate Zion be confounded and turned backwards.	5 Il Signore ti benedirà di Sion; E tu vedrai il bene di Gerusalemme Tutti i giorni della tua vita;
6 Let them be like grass on the rooftops, which withers before it can be pulled up:	6 E vedrai i figliuoli de’ tuoi figliuoli. Pace sia sopra Israele
7 with it, he who reaps does not fill his hand and he who gathers sheaves does not fill his bosom.
8 And those who were passing by have not said to them: “The blessing of the Lord be upon you. We have blessed you in the name of the Lord.”
