Psalms 127

CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINNEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 A Canticle in steps. Blessed are all those who fear the Lord, who walk in his ways.1 A song of ascents. Of Solomon. Unless the LORD build the house, they labor in vain who build. Unless the LORD guard the city, in vain does the guard keep watch.
2 For you will eat by the labors of your hands. Blessed are you, and it will be well with you.2 It is vain for you to rise early and put off your rest at night, To eat bread earned by hard toil-- all this God gives to his beloved in sleep.
3 Your wife is like an abundant vine on the sides of your house. Your sons are like young olive trees surrounding your table.3 Children too are a gift from the LORD, the fruit of the womb, a reward.
4 Behold, so will the man be blessed who fears the Lord.4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior are the children born in one's youth.
5 May the Lord bless you from Zion, and may you see the good things of Jerusalem, all the days of your life.5 Blessed are they whose quivers are full. They will never be shamed contending with foes at the gate.
6 And may you see the sons of your sons. Peace be upon Israel.
