CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAINKING JAMES BIBLE
Unto the end. A Psalm of David. How long, O Lord? Will you forget me until the end? How long will you turn your face away from me?1 Help, LORD; for the godly man ceaseth; for the faithful fail from among the children of men.
How long can I take counsel in my soul, sorrowing in my heart throughout the day?2 They speak vanity every one with his neighbour: with flattering lips and with a double heart do they speak.
How long will my enemy be exalted over me?3 The LORD shall cut off all flattering lips, and the tongue that speaketh proud things:
Look upon me and listen to me, O Lord my God. Enlighten my eyes, lest I fall asleep forever in death,4 Who have said, With our tongue will we prevail; our lips are our own: who is lord over us?
lest at any time my enemy may say, “I have prevailed against him.” Those who trouble me will exult, if I have been disturbed.5 For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy, now will I arise, saith the LORD; I will set him in safety from him that puffeth at him.
But I have hoped in your mercy. My heart will exult in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, who assigns good things to me. And I will sing psalms to the name of the Lord Most High.6 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.
The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted.
