1 Remind them to be under the control of magistrates and authorities, to be obedient, to be open to every good enterprise.	1 Ricorda loro di essere soggetti alle autorità costituite, obbedienti, pronti a ogni opera buona,
2 They are to slander no one, to be peaceable, considerate, exercising all graciousness toward everyone.	2 non dire male di nessuno, non essere amanti delle contese, al contrario, essere remissivi, dando ogni prova di mitezza verso tutti gli uomini
3 For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, deluded, slaves to various desires and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful ourselves and hating one another.	3 Poiché un tempo anche noi eravamo insensati, indocili, traviati, schiavi di ogni sorta di passioni e voluttà, immersi nella cattiveria e invidia, detestati dagli altri e pieni di odio tra di noi.
4 But when the kindness and generous love of God our savior appeared,	4 Ma quando si manifestò la bontà e l’amorevolezza di Dio nostro salvatore,
5 not because of any righteous deeds we had done but because of his mercy, he saved us through the bath of rebirth and renewal by the holy Spirit,	5 allora egli ci fece salvi, non per merito di opere giuste fatte da noi, ma in forza della sua misericordia, mediante il lavacro rigeneratore e rinnovatore di Spirito Santo,
6 whom he richly poured out on us through Jesus Christ our savior,	6 che egli ha versato abbondantemente per mezzo di Gesù Cristo nostro salvatore,
7 so that we might be justified by his grace and become heirs in hope of eternal life.	7 in modo che, giustificati per la sua grazia, diventassimo, nella speranza, eredi della vita eterna,
8 This saying is trustworthy. I want you to insist on these points, that those who have believed in God be careful to devote themselves to good works; these are excellent and beneficial to others.	8 Parola sicura: e su questa verità voglio che tu insista fermamente, chè quelli che hanno esercitato la fede in Dio si studino di compiere opere buone. Queste sono belle e utili per gli uomini.
9 Avoid foolish arguments, genealogies, rivalries, and quarrels about the law, for they are useless and futile.	9 Invece schiva le questioni stolte, le genealogie, le dispute e le contese intorno alla legge: perché sono inutili e vane.
10 After a first and second warning, break off contact with a heretic,	10 Dopo una o due ammonizioni fuggi l’eretico,
11 realizing that such a person is perverted and sinful and stands self-condemned.	11 sapendo che un tale individuo è pervertito e pecca, già condannato per suo stesso giudizio.
12 When I send Artemas to you, or Tychicus, try to join me at Nicopolis, where I have decided to spend the winter.	12 Quando ti manderò Artema o Tichico, affrettati a venire da me a Nicopoli, perché ho deciso di passare là l’inverno.
13 Send Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their journey soon, and see to it that they have everything they need.	13 Quando accomiaterai il dottore della legge Zena e Apollo datti molto da fare perché non manchi loro niente.
14 But let our people, too, learn to devote themselves to good works to supply urgent needs, so that they may not be unproductive.	14 E imparino anche i nostri a compiere opere buone per le necessità urgenti, perché non siano gente inutile.
15 All who are with me send you greetings. Greet those who love us in the faith. Grace be with all of you.	15 Ti salutano tutti quelli che sono con me. Saluta quelli che ci amano nella fede. La grazia con tutti voi.
