Hosea 12

1 Ephraim has surrounded me with lies, the house of Israel, with deceit; Judah is still rebellious against God, against the Holy One, who is faithful.	1 Ефраїм оточив мене брехнею, дім Ізраїля — обманом. А Юда ще й вередливий супроти Бога й супроти святого, який — вірний.
2 Ephraim chases the wind, ever pursuing the gale. His lies and falsehoods are many: he comes to terms with Assyria, and carries oil to Egypt.	2 Ефраїм пасе вітер; за східнім вітром женеться, всякденно множить брехню й насильство; укладають союз з Ашшуром, несуть олію в Єгипет.
3 The LORD has a grievance against Israel: he shall punish Jacob for his conduct, for his deeds he shall repay him.	3 Та й з Юдою в Господа розправа: і він покарає Якова згідно з його путями, згідно з його ділами він йому відплатить.
4 In the womb he supplanted his brother, and as a man he contended with God;	4 В утробі за п’яту взяв брата свого, своєю силою боровся з Богом.
5 He contended with the angel and triumphed, entreating him with tears. At Bethel he met God and there he spoke with him:	5 Боровся з ангелом — і подужав; плакав — і прохав у нього ласки; зустрів його в Бетелі і говорив там з ним.
6 The LORD, the God of hosts, the LORD is his name!	6 Але Господь, Бог сил небесних, Господь — ім’я його.
7 You shall return by the help of your God, if you remain loyal and do right and always hope in your God.	7 Тож повернись до Бога твого, пильнуй любов та правду і чекай на Бога твого постійно.
8 A merchant who holds a false balance, who loves to defraud!	8 Мов Ханаан тримає у своїй руці вагу неправдиву, він любить утискати.
9 Though Ephraim says, "How rich I have become; I have made a fortune!" All his gain shall not suffice him for the guilt of his sin.	9 Ефраїм мовив: «Таки розбагатів я! Здобув собі достатків! У всіх моїх трудах не знайдуть у мені кривди, що гріхом було б.»
10 I am the LORD, your God, since the land of Egypt; I will again have you live in tents, as in that appointed time.	10 Я — Господь, Бог твій, з Єгипетського краю, — я знов оселю тебе в наметах, як у дні призначеного свята.
11 I granted many visions and spoke to the prophets, through whom I set forth examples.	11 Я мовляв до пророків, помножив я видіння, через пророків промовляв я у притчах.
12 In Gilead is falsehood, they have come to nought, in Gilgal they sacrifice to bullocks; Their altars are like heaps of stones in the furrows of the field.	12 Гілеад — то сама несправедливість, вони — чиста марнота. Биків жертвують у Гілгалі; їхні жертовники будуть, мов каміння купи на бороздах у полі.
13 When Jacob fled to the land of Aram, he served for a wife; for a wife Israel tended sheep.	13 Яків утік в арамське поле, Ізраїль служив за жінку, за жінку стеріг вівці.
14 By a prophet the LORD brought Israel out of Egypt, and by a prophet they were protected.	14 Через пророка вивів Господь Ізраїля з Єгипту, через пророка він ним піклувався.
15 Ephraim has exasperated his lord; therefore he shall cast his blood-guilt upon him and repay him for his outrage.	15 Тяжко доводив Ефраїм до гніву; за те ж і кров його впаде на нього, і Господь його поверне йому назад його зневагу.
