1 After this first vision, I, Daniel, had another, in the third year of the reign of King Belshazzar.	1 La troisième année du règne du roi Baltassar, j'eus une vision. Moi, Daniel, après ce que j'avais vu au commencement,
2 In my vision I saw myself in the fortress of Susa in the province of Elam; I was beside the river Ulai.	2 je vis dans ma vision, lorsque j'étais au château de Suse, qui est au pays d'Elam; je vis donc dans cette vision que j'étais à la porte de l'Ulaï.
3 I looked up and saw standing by the river a ram with two great horns, the one larger and newer than the other.	3 Je levai les yeux et je vis; et voici qu'un bélier se tenait devant le marais; il avait des cornes élevées, et l'une était plus haute que l'autre et croissait peu à peu. Après cela
4 I saw the ram butting toward the west, north, and south. No beast could withstand it or be rescued from its power; it did what it pleased and became very powerful.	4 je vis que ce bélier donnait des coups de corne contre l'occident, contre l'aquilon et contre le midi; et toutes les bêtes ne pouvaient lui résister, ni se délivrer de sa main; il fit ce qu'il voulut, et il devint puissant.
5 As I was reflecting, a he-goat with a prominent horn on its forehead suddenly came from the west across the whole earth without touching the ground.	5 Et j'étais attentif; et voici qu'un bouc venait de l'occident sur la face de toute la terre, sans toucher la terre; or ce bouc avait une grande corne entre les yeux.
6 It approached the two-horned ram I had seen standing by the river, and rushed toward it with savage force.	6 Il vint jusqu'à ce bélier qui avait des cornes, et que j'avais vu se tenir devant la porte; et il courut sur lui avec l'impétuosité de sa force.
7 I saw it attack the ram with furious blows when they met, and break both its horns. It threw the ram, which had not the force to withstand it, to the ground, and trampled upon it; and no one could rescue it from its power.	7 Lorsqu'il se fut approché du bélier, il l'attaqua avec furie et le frappa, et il lui brisa les deux cornes, sans que le bélier pût lui résister; et l'ayant jeté par terre, il le foula aux pieds, et personne ne pouvait délivrer le bélier de sa main.
8 The he-goat became very powerful, but at the height of its power the great horn was shattered, and in its place came up four others, facing the four winds of heaven.	8 Or le bouc devint extraordinairement grand, et, lorsqu'il eut crû, sa grande corne se rompit, et quatre cornes poussaient au-dessous, vers les quatre vents du ciel.
9 Out of one of them came a little horn which kept growing toward the south, the east, and the glorious country.	9 Mais de l'une d'elles il sortit une petite corne qui s'agrandit vers le midi, vers l'orient et vers la force.
10 Its power extended to the host of heaven, so that it cast down to earth some of the host and some of the stars and trampled on them.	10 Et elle s'éleva jusqu'à la puissance du ciel, et elle fit tomber des forts et des étoiles, et elle les foula aux pieds.
11 It boasted even against the prince of the host, from whom it removed the daily sacrifice, and whose sanctuary it cast down,	11 Elle s'éleva jusqu'au prince de la force, et lui enleva le sacrifice perpétuel, et renversa le lieu de son sanctuaire.
12 as well as the host, while sin replaced the daily sacrifice. It cast truth to the ground, and was succeeding in its undertaking.	12 La puissance lui fut donnée contre le sacrifice perpétuel à cause des péchés, et la vérité sera renversée sur la terre, et il agira et il réussira.
13 I heard a holy one speaking, and another said to whichever one it was that spoke, "How long shall the events of this vision last concerning the daily sacrifice, the desolating sin which is placed there, the sanctuary, and the trampled host?"	13 Alors j'entendis un des saints qui parlait; et un saint dit à un autre, je ne sais lequel, qui lui parlait: Jusques à quand durera la vision, et le sacrifice perpétuel, et le péché de désolation? Jusques à quand le sanctuaire et la force seront-ils foulés aux pieds?
14 He answered him, "For two thousand three hundred evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary shall be purified."	14 Et il lui dit: Jusques au soir et au matin, deux mille trois cents jours, et le sanctuaire sera purifié.
15 While I, Daniel, sought the meaning of the vision I had seen, a manlike figure stood before me,	15 Or, tandis que moi, Daniel, j'avais cette vision et que j'en cherchais l'intelligence, voici qu'il se tint devant moi comme une figure d'homme.
16 and on the Ulai I heard a human voice that cried out, "Gabriel, explain the vision to this man."	16 Et j'entendis la voix d'un homme au milieu de l'Ulaï; et il cria et dit: Gabriel, fais comprendre cette vision.
17 When he came near where I was standing, I fell prostrate in terror. But he said to me, "Understand, son of man, that the vision refers to the end time."	17 Et il vint et se tint près du lieu où j'étais; et lorsqu'il fut venu, effrayé je tombai le visage contre terre; et il me dit: Comprends, fils de l'homme, car la vision s'accomplira au temps de la fin.
18 As he spoke to me, I fell forward in a faint; he touched me and made me stand up.	18 Et, comme il me parlait, je tombai le visage contre terre; et il me toucha et me replaça debout,
19 "I will show you," he said, "what is to happen later in the period of wrath; for at the appointed time, there will be an end.	19 puis il me dit: Je te montrerai ce qui doit arriver à la fin de la malédiction, car le temps s'accomplira.
20 "The two-horned ram you saw represents the kings of the Medes and Persians.	20 Le bélier que tu as vu, et qui avait des cornes, est le roi des Mèdes et des Perses.
21 The he-goat is the king of the Greeks, and the great horn on its forehead is the first king.	21 Le bouc est le roi des Grecs, et la grande corne qui était entre ses yeux est le premier roi.
22 The four that rose in its place when it was broken are four kingdoms that will issue from his nation, but without his strength.	22 Les quatre cornes qui se sont élevées après que la première a été rompue sont quatre rois qui s'élèveront de sa nation, mais non avec sa force;
23 "After their reign, when sinners have reached their measure, There shall arise a king, impudent and skilled in intrigue.	23 et après leur règne, lorsque les iniquités se seront accrues, il s'élèvera un roi au visage impudent et qui comprendra les énigmes.
24 He shall be strong and powerful, bring about fearful ruin, and succeed in his undertaking. He shall destroy powerful peoples;	24 Sa puissance s'accroîtra, mais non par ses propres forces, et il ravagera tout au delà de ce que l'on peut croire; et il réussira et agira. Il fera mourir les forts et le peuple des saints,
25 his cunning shall be against the holy ones, his treacherous conduct shall succeed. He shall be proud of heart and destroy many by stealth. But when he rises against the prince of princes, he shall be broken without a hand being raised.	25 selon sa volonté; sa main dirigera la ruse et son coeur deviendra arrogant, et, dans l'abondance des prospérités, il fera mourir beaucoup d'hommes; il s'élèvera contre le prince des princes, puis il sera brisé sans la main des hommes.
26 The vision of the evenings and the mornings is true, as spoken; Do you, however, keep this vision undisclosed, because the days are to be many."	26 Cette vision du soir et du matin dont il s'agit est véritable; scelle donc cette vision, car elle n'arrivera qu'après des jours nombreux.
27 I, Daniel, was weak and ill for some days; then I arose and took care of the king's affairs. But I was appalled at the vision, which I could not understand.	27 Et moi, Daniel, je fus longuement malade pendant plusieurs jours; et quand je me levai, je travaillais aux affaires du roi, et j'étais étonné de la vision, et il n'y avait personne pour l'interpréter.
